Meezarawcks
So apparently there is this book being written by David Kushner that goes through the history of GTA and the Houser's. I've noticed a few posts about it but felt it deserved a topic of its own: "Grand Theft Auto is one of the biggest and most controversial videogame franchises of all time. Since its first release in 1997, GTA has pioneered the use of everything from 3D graphics to the voices of top Hollywood actors and repeatedly transformed the world of gaming. Despite its incredible innovations in the $75 billion game industry, it has also been a lightning rod of debate, spawning accusations of ethnic and sexual discrimination, glamorizing violence, and inciting real-life crimes. Jacked tells the turbulent and mostly unknown story of GTA's wildly ambitious creators, Rockstar Games, the invention and evolution of the franchise, and the cultural and political backlash it has provoked. Explains how British prep school brothers Sam and Dan Houser took their dream of fame, fortune, and the glamor of American pop culture and transformed it into a worldwide videogame blockbuster Written by David Kushner, author of Masters of Doom and a top journalist on gaming, and drawn from over ten years of interviews and research, including firsthand knowledge of Grand Theft Auto's creators and detractors Offers inside details on key episodes in the development of the series, including the financial turmoil of Rockstar games, the infamous "Hot Coffee" sex minigame incident, and more Whether you love Grand Theft Auto or hate it, or just want to understand the defining entertainment product of a generation, you'll want to read Jacked and get the real story behind this boundary-pushing game." Now at this point you might ask, "Why are you posting it in the GTAV forum (insert expletive here)". Well the pure reason is I heard a RUMOR that the book will be released in April and the author stated the book will be released simultaneously with the game. The article can be found here: http://www.gamestrend.de/articles/v/b9a9df...-um-den-Release It is in German so I Google translated it for you English readers: GTA 5 - Again rumors about the release 09.12.2011 - 20:47 Grand Theft Auto V, there is again only one thing: rumors. And once more they affect the release date of the game. It's bubbling again. Again, there are a few days ago a rumor regarding the release date of Grand Theft Auto V, the latest offshoot of the series. So far there is only a trailer and no other information. Rockstar and Take-Two talk sometimes covered. But the rumors are all the more diverse. The newest and latest rumor is that Grand Theft Auto V after the 3rd To be published in April 2012. It is even relatively close to it. That's the date on which a new book to appear. Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto is the book and wants to tell the story of the series. And offer a wealth of background information. According to the author of Grand Theft Auto V is an important game and the book should be available before the game. Many sites take on the event and report that the release could possibly be set shortly thereafter. But seriously: Who really believes please? We can at least try to look into our crystal ball. One second. Ah. Done. Yes. The game is definitely after the third April appear. But probably not soon after. We touch on even more in winter. I am mostly posting this because I thought the book should be pretty interesting read. As far as the RUMOR goes that's just the fuel to keep the fire burning in this thread. So please let the flaming/speculation/discussion begin. Or not...your choice
USAPatriot
I'd be interested picking up a copy if it isn't overpriced. Might have some good insight in how these guys think, and what was the inspiration. Thanks for posting. Never would have known about this otherwise. I agree the book should be fun to read. I wonder exactly how much info he got from R*/Houser's seeing as how they are all so secretive. The author himself is pretty renowned so lets see. USAPatriot
If it is a book about him and his brother, I am sure they opened up, otherwise they wouldn't have a book about them. It might even be a book that "special editions" of GTA V come with, just an idea. Might have some cool insight on how they designed certain aspect of the game. No exclusive interviews. Just research of the past. Yeah I understand your point here but usually info on R* is hard to come by. So the book should be a welcome addition even if it is info we already know. Like most people posted it would be nice to have in a "collection" p.s. anyone have anything to add about the "rumor"? LotusRIP
They should make a game version of the book. That way they make even more money
Meezarawcks
Lol like an interactive book? That would be pretty cool. Unless you meant a game where in gameplay we actually sit and read a book lol Don't know about that
Staten
p.s. anyone have anything to add about the "rumor"? That rumour is not very likely because it looks like Rockstar didn't have any involvement in the book, so there would be no way for the publishers to know when the game was coming out and therefore the publication date will have no connection to the release of V. They just guessed that it would be some time in 2012.

USAPatriot
I think I am going to pick up this book. Would be a nice read, and as I mentioned before, might be smart to sell together as a bundle if some stores want to try and do that.

GTA36362355
So the game is coming only after April 2012. Its obvious that they'll en-cash the hype induced sales of the book. R* seriously knows a lot about making money.
Meezarawcks
Well I don't really think R* has anything to do with the book. It is just a author who seems to be intrigued, dare I say "fan", of the series and wants to document it.
l911
I think Dan Houser and Sam Houser will release own book some day or movie about GTA history. But this book is good for now.
FloRzoniTe
UNOFFICIAL NEWS: Last Night i found out, that the Producer of Grand Theft Auto will first release a Book called "Jacked - The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto" you can already Pre-Order it on Amazon and so on. At January, some unofficial news said that the game will release the first month at 2012. RockstarGames made a statement to this news and said they are not true. Not anymore. Because they first want to release a book at April 3th, 2012 and after this they will release GTA V. So it will not come out before April. Drake1212
The book is not written by Rockstar employees, it has nothing to do with Rockstar, it is just a journalist's summary of Rockstars story. Sorry man.
