Huge 3-team trade:

Lakers get: Chris Paul

Hornets get: Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic

Rockets get: Pau Gasol

I would have liked this trade more (but not completely) if we only lost Scola OR Martin. But instead we lost our entire in-out game and a serviceable backup point guard. Not sure why Houston had any part of this deal, because they only saved $3mil in cap space. Gasol is owed a f*ckton of money ($57 million over 3 years) and is 31 now. This doesn't help us whatsoever. Rebuilding mode AGAIN. They are also rumored to be pursuing Nene from Denver. It would help the front court but we have no one to score now.

The Lakers, on the other hand, now have a video-game-ridiculous back court and kept Bynum for a potential Dwight Howard trade down the line. What the f*ck man.

I don't like how every team in the league now thinks they need three superstars to be a contender. There are 8 good teams in the whole NBA and the rest are fodder. This sort of thing is not good for the health of the league.

Somebody else weigh in here because I want to go punch an infant.

As a Celtics fan this is another reason to hate the Lakers. We're f*cked this year. I'm really starting to hate Danny Ainge unless he can pull off another monster trade like 2008 but that is highly unlikely.

That aside I'm also f*cking stoked the Clippers have apparently got Caron Butler now (yeah I dig the Clippers, just wish they would go back to my home town of San Diego). Tyson Chandler also goes to the Knicks. Maybe he can actually help the team what they can't seem to do right....defend.

Butler will be a deeper option for the Clippers, which hurts his fantasy value but adds some much needed depth.

I like Chandler in NY because they could use some front court defense, but Chandler isn't really the kind of center D'Antoni usually goes for. He has zero ability to score on his own. It may still work out, though.

The owners and Stern have blocked the Paul trade: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21718..._Paul_To_Lakers

What I don't understand is how? The NBA is all about matching money, so as long as everything evens out things are supposed to go off without a hitch. What I think is that the NBA is trying to sell the Hornets (since they basically own them) instead of contract them, and this trade would kill their selling power. Sounds like f*cking tampering to me, but from the league office.

Funny thing is is that Hornets would be getting some good players and a 1st round draft pick. Chris Paul obviously doesn't want to be in New Orleans and rumors are surfacing that he won't even show up for camp, I honestly don't think he is a good fit in LA anyways, they need a 'real' and non-injury prone center to compliment Kobe. It also looks like Dwight Howard is heading to the Nets.

Nets get Dwight Howard

Magic get Brook Lopez and two 1st round picks

Doesn't look like that's gonna happen now. The Magic seem too pissed to just let that happen.

Speaking of the Magic, Celtics sign and trade Glen Davis to get Brandon Bass. This is a f*cking steal in my opinion. Glen Davis had some flashes of greatness off the bench for some of the season but by the end he was just flat out painful to watch. Didn't seem to be on good terms with Doc Rivers either. Whatever though.

Marlowe.

Brandon Roy has retired.

It's not entirely shocking, but still quite sad. So young.

I think it's time that the Blazers' fans start admitting they made a mistake drafting Greg Oden over Kevin Durant . . . and that they are doomed! Doomed, I say. Doooooomed! tounge.gif

I'm glad to see the Paul and Howard trades fall through. The "superteams" are pushing me further away from the NBA, to be honest. It's just going to become less interesting to watch over the next few years.

superteams aren't just in the nba though, we've seen them with the eagles in the NFL and the miami marlins have been spending crazy money this offseason. i agree with you though it's not good for competition.

My Knicks finally got the big man they needed. But my problem with this team has to do with the coach.

I've read Tyson Chandler and Knicks have come to a agreement but they must wait for something, not for sure what.

But many other Leagues have rules and regulations to stop these sort of things.

ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Clippers and NBA-owned Hornets have agreed in principle for a deal sending Chris Paul and two future second-round picks to the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and a Minnesota first-round pick.

The Clippers have a fun roster now. I want to play as them on NBA2K. DeAndre Evans, Baron Davis, Mo Williams, Caron Butler, Blake Griffin, and now CP3. Also that pick belonging to Minnesota could end up being #1 overall. The Clippers gave up quality young pieces but it's a great deal for both sides.

Baron Davis is with the Cavaliers if I remember correctly or unless he changed teams during this off-season.

CP3 to Griffin already sounds exciting with the addition of Caron Butler it should be interesting. I think they'll struggle inside defensively with Kaman heading out.

I had a fun Christmas Day watching my Knicks beat the hated Celtics. Knicks defense needs a lot of work, but at least the effort was there. Sucks losing Shumpert for 2-4 weeks.

Need to get my hands on an NBA.tv pass, as trial ends on the 9th Jan. sad.gif

Can't be arsed searching for semi-laggy streams, when this thing works in HD and perfectly.

As someone living in South Florida, watching the Heat bandwagon form since LeBron happened has been interesting. People who never watched sports are now die hard heat fans. turn.gif

I can only imagine. I really want to fork up some money for when they head to town against Thunder. I've always been a LeBron fan and if Thunder doesn't win it I'll be rooting for the Heat to. You can see the improvement with them from last year and they're just going to be a force to reckon with for years to come now.

For real they might even have a legitimate starting PG now with Norris Cole. Did anyone watch their game against Boston? The guy closed out the game hitting 3 huge clutch jumpshots in a row.

Also Bynum's first game back from suspension last night, goes for 20/20 cookie.gif

Anybody catch that triple OT game between Hawks/Heat? I told myself before the season started that the Hawks will surprise a lot of people, they are expierenced guys who've been playing together for a couple years now. I enjoy watching Josh Smith, not so much Joe Johnson. Anyways, Chris Bosh looked very impressive by his lonesome (without LeBron or Dwayne) and knocked down some key shots but also f*cked up at some key times aswell. Good game.

Good to see you around, man. Didn't catch the game Cole took over in the 4th, but I read he was pretty poised for a rook. How has he done since? Love the Battier pick up for you guys as well.

Haha, yeah that was a rough one to watch. What are your early impressions on the Knicks? Personally, I love the Chandler signing and believe he can have a major impact on the court and in the locker room. Iman Shumpert has been very impressive in the 2 or 3 games I've seen. I think tonight he had something like 12 points, 2 boards, 7 assists, a block and 5 steals. I dig his energy on both ends of the court. I really really hope he turns out to be our starting PG for the future. From the little I've seen, I think he's capable. Plus it'll shift Douglas to the bench where he's more efficient. But it's going to be crowded once Baron Davis is healthy. Dude was born to play in The Garden and I think it's a perfect situation for him. I fully expect him to excel if he's in good shape.

All that said, I have major concerns about their chemistry. Understandable when you think that only Dougles and Walker were with the team before last season. Everyone else needs to get acclimated with each other in a hurry. I know they haven't had a proper training camp together since Melo was traded, but he and Amare need to find a way to coexist at a high level if we're going to be real threat to contend for a title. And I find myself scratching my head at D'Antoni a lot lately. We certainly have some pieces in place, but we're far from elite.

Oklahoma looks really good this year. If Westbrick can learn when to pass the ball and when to shoot, and can learn that KD needs to get at least one legitimate touch every other time down the floor, they could be a real threat in the West.

It's not even that he needs to pass the ball he needs to take smarter shots and quit turning the ball over. He has been pissing me off since the playoffs last year; to the point to where I wouldn't mind if they traded him off if we get some good value in it.

I would not want to trade him. He is a freak athletically for his position and has a ton of raw talent. He is still young. If this year is when he learns better discipline and ball protection as you mentioned, he will be a legit top point guard.

Believe me, I've been hearing that for couple years now good sir. I do hope he lives up to his potential here in OKC, but I think he is a type of guy who wants to be that guy and he isn't in OKC.

Knicks are a work in progress. Can they make the playoffs and maybe win a round? Yes, but they're not taking that BIG step with this coach. I was against the Pringles hire from the start. Never liked his style. I agree with Sir Charles, it's 'sissyball'. Give me a defensive-minded coach like Thibodeau, or as much as I can't stand him, Phil Jackson.

I love the Chandler move and Shumpert has been a blessing. Pringles finally woke up, gave the rookie more PT and sat Douglas' ass down. Knicks are hurt by the lack of a true PG, so Shumpert has to hold the fort until Baron Davis is ready.

It's scary Knicks are pinning their season on Baron. I just hope we get the motivated Davis.

Should be an interesting game tonight. Philly is playing lights-out basketball.

As for Westbrook, I hope he doesn't get that "Marbury" attitude. Who knows what Marbury and Garnett could have done together? Westbrook and Durant are on the verge of doing something special. But he has to realize Durant is the man. Don't worry about getting yours - be like Magic and make everyone better.

Kobe's heating up had two 40+ point games recently, and people were saying he's past his prime lol. Seeing a Lakers/Heat finals would be awesome, especially since the Lakers would be underdogs which is rare.
