How big is Saints Row? Because they included a Jet...

I woudl say that Stillwater is about the size of broker, dukes and algonquin while Steelport is probably a 2/3rd scale of Libety city. I wouldnt say that SR is a good game to use the planes as a size scale though because they have made a sandbox game and added a large bunch of toys to the sandbox so you have more to play with but that compromizes realism.

I would say steelport is just basically a smaller version of LC. Also saints row the third city looked so bland and dull and empty....

Steelport was just a poorly done ripoff of IVs Liberty City. Its actually pathetically undetailed while almost being an exact carbon copy.

Saints Row 2's Stilwater is about a thousand times more interesting than IVs Liberty City, now granted gta3 had a better atmosphere and world than Saints Row but when compared to IV theres no contest. SR 2 has a million cool little hidden locations that are on the map like a Science Museum, Rec Center, Undergroudn Caverns etc. Even Bully had more cool exploration secrets (pirate island) than IV.

The Bully map was just right.

Besides being based on New York I can't say I really felt there very many similarities between Steelport and either version of Liberty City.

It wasn't just based off New York, but also Pittsburgh.

Hence its name Steelport.

Makes sense given that Stillwater was based on Chicago and Detroit.

What idiots here think its going to be bigger Than Skyrim??? Bethesda are way more competent than R*, GTAV is going to be nowhere near Skyrim. Theyre not even doing mutliple cities for crying out loud. Does Skyrim have ONE city? No, because that would be stupid and restrictive. If you think GTAV will be bigger than Skyrim youre setting yourself up for huge dissapointment.

Take your own advice and shut up, sit down, and relax.

i would say that the only reason skyrim seems so big is because you basically have to walk everywhere. i bet if they threw in a car, the world would seem a lot smaller.

Also did anyone notice the Steelport map always being flat?

the city is severely lacking in diversity.

yeah but they only look good at night, and for whatever reason the day cycle doesn't change unless you start the next mission.

GRINCH ASS BITCH

I've never played Skyrim, so I wouldn't know. In regards to GTA:V's map size, I've got a feeling that it's going to be a lot more than just Los Santos. One thing that's really stuck with me after viewing the trailer is the fact that throughout all of the different views of the city, not once were you actually able to see the huge mountain that the three hikers were standing in front of. Of course, you can see the much smaller mountains that surround Los Santos, but you're never actually able to see the "big" one. A mountain that size would be pretty easy to spot from quite a distance, so I get the impression that the map is going to be quite large.

People think they are so clever, telling me that, where in reality i use it as a guage since most people who flame me for saying ANYTHING bad about iv were too young to place Vice City and dont know that quote.

So we can all agree that Vice City was the worst GTA game, amirite?

On topic, I couldn't care less about Skyrim. But who actually has any idea about the size of GTA V's map at the moment? If we take GTA San Andreas as a template, the game should have a map four times larger than the area represented in the first trailer. Or something. They did say Southern California, anyway, so we could be having San Diego for all you know.

Vice City actually had MORE features than GTAIV!

Oh ho ho, you know what Zee, forget what I said about you losing your edge. You're allllllriiiiight.

Srsly tho, as outlandishly hilarious as that statement was, I wasn't talking about features, I was carrying on your point about GTA V supposedly only having one city, thus making it a pile of suck.

There needs to be multiple environments. RDR and SA mastered this, IV not so much.

Yeah, IV got stale because it was just one big lump of city. That's it. That's why V being back in San Andreas is so exciting.

I don't know wtf Skyrim is but I chose 'bigger' just because I want this game so huge that its not even funny.

Bigger is not better. The bigger the map is, the less detailed it is capable of being. Rockstar has shown in previous GTA games that if they make too big a city, they will fill in entire areas with bland buildings, no peds, and half-assed detail just to make the city look "done". I would much, much rather have it be the same size as IV and be incredibly detailed. The size really doesn't make a damn bit of difference if the game isn't rich and alive. You guys have to understand that only so much environmental data can fit in a game reasonably. The bigger you want it the less space they can dedicate to detail. Think about it.

Personally I think Los Santos will be a similar size to Liberty City, and that would be great IMO. Also we've seen that GTA V will have a vast countryside from what we can see in the trailer. It's not about having loads of cities that have hardly any detail and lifeless atmospheres.

I'd be really happy to see Los Santos and the surrounding countryside with the addition of some nicely detailed towns. This isn't GTA San Andreas, this is GTA V. It's time for something different that moves away from the old. This is just my opinion, As much I love GTA SA I wanna see something new.

And back on topic... I have skyrim and the map is actually gigantic. It'll be hard for rockstar to make a map as big as skyrims with all the detail that rockstar put into there cities. Although you never know... Rockstar are a clever company so we'll just have to wait and see. smile.gif

I'm confused. Is this yet ANOTHER map size wishlist thread or is it a skyrim fan just bragging about his new favorite game?

I think it's safe to say it's a bit of both.

But hey, I've read worse topics. Like that one where that guy asked whether we'd rather play as God or Satan...
