The Most Awesome Game Soundtracks

I don't necessarily like this track, but I think it fits the game fantastically. It's the best soundtrack I've seen that fits the game.

Most of my favorites, including Metroid, have been named. But no Half-Life? For shame.

One of my favorite pieces of music from any game:

The Getaway was another game with a stellar soundtrack. Here's the main theme:

"DEVO Presents Adventures of the Smart Patrol". And that is all I need to say on the matter.

For original sound scores I particularly like Halo 3's and pretty much all the theme's from King of Fighter's XIII. This one is, "The Second Joker" the theme to my favourite character Ash Crimson.

There's so many more that I like, too many to name but I do like these soundtracks of these particular games:

Jet Set Radio Future

All of the SSX's particularly SSX 2012 the dubstep tracks are very cool to shred with and how the music fades out when you're at high altitudes and how it returns when you descend, especially epic when you land it on the 'drop' of a song. Another game with a good selected soundtrack would be the GTA's, they have a very cool lineup for each radio station.

I thought Fable 2 had a great soundtrack that fitted in perfectly with the setting. As the game had that fairytale atmosphere to it, the music really enhanced the experience.

I wouldn't say its one of the best, but as far as fitting in with the game, its top notch.

The Kingdom Hearts have surprisingly had one of the best soundtracks ever.

From games I've played recently, I loved the soundtrack from Skyrim, I thought it was beautiful.

The Minecraft soundtrack is pretty good too, so relaxing.

Akira Yamaoka is a fantastic composer, his tracks bring the really haunting parts of Silent Hill to a whole new level. Completely different sound, but Michael McCann's work on Dues Ex was superb as well. I find myself going back to both soundtracks often even though I don't actually play either game any more. There's just something about hearing the Icarus Theme while browsing on the internet that seems too hilariously climactic.

Hands down, though, Jeremy Soule is my favorite video game soundtrack composer. The guy's latest work for Guild Wars 2 and Skyrim deserve credit, both keep you really involved in their respective worlds and stay true to the in-game lore by using various instruments you can see in either game. His work on Oblivion and Morrowind, though... good god that is just magical. I can't even fathom how many times I've listened to Oblivion's soundtrack at this point.

The game soundtrack that struck me the most was Red Dead Redemption. It adds so much to the game. Recently I played Max Payne 3 and it too has a great soundtrack.

I'll go old school for and say that Streets Of Rage II has one of the best soundtracks in gaming history.

Here's a few covered by a YTP'er, pretty cool to see how he does them:

Rock 'n' Roll racing had a great soundtrack as well.

Haven't played the game in about a decade but I've recently found myself listening to the music again on youtube. It had some awesome medleys, especially this one:

Makes me all patriotic like...

The best thing about this song is that it kicks in when you are winning.

I think the Hell March song got worse with every red alert game. I did stop playing after Westwood got bought out, the series has been awful since. Act on Instinct from C&C is one of my favorites.

Dunno if it's just me, but I'm actually kinda surprised that nobody has mentioned the stuff that Crush40 did for Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2.

Gotta bump this for what has to be one of the most original gaming soundtracks I've ever heard (and the game isn't bad either!).

check out 26:08 to get a good taste of what it offers.
