I bought this for my best friend for his birthday. I just got a text from him that says "I'm in the hotel basement nearly sh*tting myself." Haha

Just wait until he hits the Underground tunnel in Salt Lake City, he's gunna have a heart attack sneaking around those Bloaters
Haha yeah I told him he ain't seen nothing yet.

I actually thought the basement was worse. At least I can see worth a damn in the tunnel

So I decided to go back to Tlou one more time on PS3 to get my platinum trophy by finishing it on Survivor. I have to say, I'm impressed

Even though I'm on PS4, the graphics still amaze me. Hell it looks better then some PS4 games. The story is really emotional. I've completed TLOU like 6 times but I almost shed a manly tear after the suburbs part.

So far survivor has been pretty easy. I'm at the end and I have 2 med kits, 1 smoke bomb, 1 molotov and plenty of ammo. Hopefully I don't get f*cked in the Hospital lol

I really love this game. Truly one of the best games of all time

Edit: Finished it, The hospital was actually pretty easy.

Damn, I've been neglecting the survivor mode for two weeks now. Time to pump action and return to the best exclusive I've ever played.

I was on gamefaqs earlier and this guy reviewed The Last of Us

"I liked TLOU but i think its very mediocre, its not even a good survival horror game, its not even a good adventure game, it tried to hard to be both these things and didnt do a good enough job at any to be anything unique. Its just a bare boned survival horror game with a bad lacking in enemy types, puzzles, combat, character progression, and survival elements.

Then in adventure elements theres not enough exploring, its linear and boxy, with broken stealth mechanics and an annoying gameplay formula.

Its still a good game but i dont at all understand how people are calling this a masterpiece, it just does everything that has been done before(even the story, which is acclaimed as its best part), the game is very bare boned and doesnt take any risks in gameplay(Like RE4) and doesnt offer any tense gameplay(Like Silent Hill) and i cant get over how terrible the character progression is in how nothing changes between new players and experiences players. Its just Uncharted with Zombies, and i hated Uncharted as it was too linear and contextual/scripted, as is TLOU.

You want some true survival horror experiences that offer amazing character progression, puzzles, varried enemies, bosses, etc try any of the other ones because they all do it better then TLOU."

Cringe worthy, just absolutely cringe worthy

His IQ is obviously under 40. He totally failed to see what TLOU was about. A post apocalyptic world....NOT ENOUGH PUZZLES OMG!!!! He probably also can't appreciate a story that is more complicated than save the Princess from green lizardy guy. I really do worry for the human race

It's his opinion, I guess. I don't understand the comparison between Uncharted and TLOU though. Has he even played both games? Besides using the same engine, they're extremely different.

I'm in the basement now and after diving through the area with the creepy corpses, I surfaced on the other side and couldn't find my way back; I never went through the first double door on the left after falling down the elevator shaft. What did I miss through that door? I also had no shiv to open the door outside the hotel with the red X, and I bet there were some juicy goodies in there. :( In the hotel of course I crafted another shiv, but Joel wouldn't place the ladder against the hotel's front window in the lobby so I could climb back out. Bit of an oversight there really.

This game is tough. I can easily see why it won so many awards. Quite apart from the story it's the feel of the thing; the atmosphere. It's amazing. Now I have to find the keycard after powering up the generator, but of course all those runners and that bloater have other ideas. I torch the bloater when he appears and run to the keycard door; I like having my back against a wall. Will the bloater die if I keep torching him? Bombs are ineffective.

Get the keycard first. Next, turn on the generator and then run like a bitch to the door (follow the cords) Forget about the about bloater and just run.

If this fails, I hope you a lot of ammo and explosives

And I recommend molotoving the bloater and then using the bomb. That's how I do it

Interesting; I was under the impression I had to turn on the generator to find the keycard; it'd be too dark otherwise.

I'm not going to ask where it's hidden, but I am going to ask; will I find it by looking around in the usual sort of places? Lockers etc?

Edit: VCRules86 I don't have much pistol or revolver ammo at all, but I have five rifle rounds and I think six arrows, three shivs, the wooden beam with four hits, one molotov with supplies to craft two more, two health packs, I think two bombs and two smoke bombs.

I swear that sounds like I'm minted but when I'm playing I always feel stretched thin.

Just search the rooms and you'll find it. Hint: Its not in a locker.

Lol you should try Survivor mode, then you'll realise how spoilt with supplies you are on lower difficulties

When I've completed the game on Hard I'll try Survivor if I ever play the game again. I only tend to complete games once, and I take a very long time typically.

I never completed GTAV...

That should be more than enough, even on the harder difficulties. Get him with a Molotov, launch the bomb, and if he's still standing a couple of rifle rounds should do it.

I always run for the card key first, then I try to get rid of the stalkers by waiting for them in the same room I got the card key.

That strategy has worked for me a couple times but I don't know if there's a better one, if you guys know a better one you're more than welcome to share here please.

I always get really nervous when I play through this part, the fat guy scared the sh*t out of me the first time I played it.

Heh, just got done with that section, all I had to do was throw two molotovs at the bloater and then he died.

Also, I've been having great fun with photo mode, here are a few pictures I've taken:

I've actually taken a LOT more, this are just some of my first ones taken yesterday. Will upload more tommorrow.

I remember my first run through the basement, I got so scared when I turned on the generator that I just made a run for it and sprinted around a corner and straight into the bloater.

Getting your face torn in half by a bloater is by far the most gruesome thing in the game.

That damn basement sent memory's back to Uncharted 1 when you had to turn the damn power back on in the Vault, F*cking Decendants

It's a shame it couldn't be even more gory though. It feels like it cuts away a moment before the bloater tears Joel's jaw apart.

Actually, for a split second you can actually see Joel's ripped out face.

Has anybody completed it on grounded difficulty?

I have completed the game only ones so far on survivor. Does grounded make much of a difference?

EDIT: Woop, there it is!

Photo mode looks very good.

It is, also, if you're ever wanting to use the "noir" filter, I recommend using it in good lighting.

But keep in mind, not all photos need to be serious.

Fun fact: Joel's character model and textures are 7mb, his cutscene model and textures (that PS4 uses in game) is 50mb.
