i liked gta 4's driving handling on cars, boats, and choppers, but i cant say the same about the handling of motorcycles(from my pov). i hope they are better on v.

i thought they were really good, i only hated one thing, when your doing a front/back flip the bike would swing up the wrong way around and f*ck everything up.

The PCJ-600 and Vader were absolutely awful. They didnt turn at all and when they got hit by other cars, even lightly, would go spiraling out of control. The NRG and Akuma's on the otherhand were awesome. All the choppers handled great though, especially Johnny's Hexer.

I loved the way bikes handled in IV. If you are going to do a flip then while in mid-air, lay off the throttle and just move the joystick. You will move how you want. Its what I'm looking forward to the most in V with the hills. I don't have the link(I don't know how to do that) but if your interested look up "GTA 4 amazing bike stunts" on youtube. It will give you a new appreciation of IV all around.

i hope they improve on the cars, i want to be able to drift pretty good and continuosly around the streets, and the cars felt really sluggish (most of them).

the gear changes were terrible, especially when you take off, it feels like they ride the gears 10seconds too long.

(if you didnt like the motorbike handling in IV, dont even try SR2.)

EDIT: @Oblivion- the redlining on the faggio are the worst by far, you redline for over 10meters lol.

yeah its mostly the sport bikes that were bad thats why i usually cruise around in a car

yes i hated that. in most cars you redlined in first gear for ever. i also hated the traction control. i'd slide out a bit and want to mash on the gas to straighten my self out but i can't because the accelerator wont respond until the wheels catch traction. so annoying

I liked the bike handling in general. The Freeway and Sanchez bikes felt particularly good.

I agree, however, that the sports bikes should be changed to have less of a feeling of weight.

i thought the handling was ok, but it could definitely be fixed up a bit. what most people don't realize when driving a motorcycle is that you need to slow down before you even start heading into a turn. you can't just brake around a corner like you would with a car. which is realistic because on a motorcycle IRL you have to slow down while you're still going straight, before you head into a turn.

Yeah. It definitely needs a big improvement. Especially the brakes. Even at a mediocre speed, the sport bikes take about 8 to 10 bike lengths to stop which is ridiculous. Also, the crash system needs to be fixed. The protag flies off and rolls down the ground for miles together after a crash as if friction and gravity don't exist. Due to the above two problems, bike riding at high speed was always a fatal risk. The skill system should return atleast for motorbikes.

Yea the sport bikes were a bit iffy some times, I especially hate the glitch where when doing a back flip the bike will sorta spin round and completely ruin it and you'll crash. The other bikes are great, I especially love the police bike in TBoGT, such a great bike to cruise around on. I love the car and heli handling but I wouldn't mind the car handling being just a bit tighter/harder, the cars float about a bit too much sometimes but it doesn't make much difference.

I don't know about police bikes but "GTA 4 amazing bike stunts" on youtube will fix any misconceptions. Not mine, just a personal favorite.

Yeah it needs some much needed improvement, it was a step in the right direction, especially with actual back flips with bikes this time around. (in VC and SA it pissed me off there where no back flips on bikes, I raged all the time over it)

In IV though it felt as if the NRG and PCJ were both on ice and skidded all over the f*cking road when you went to turn at times. (it happened quite a bit)

Though I feel that the episodes rectified most of the mistakes, as it was needed in TLAD (a game where you're on a bike 99.999% of the time) and the bikes preformed wonderfully. (In TBoGT they did well too)

I don't want the cars to be so boaty.

The body roll was undeniably terrible. That needs improving.

Also I not fully knowledgable on the subject but with the bikes there is something called counter steering that alot of people wanted to be fixed in IV. Hopefully they will for V.

While in mid-air let go of the throttle and use the joystick to do a backflip. It works, trust me. The vehicle/pressure sensative elements in IV was an advancement for gameplay. It will continue in V. You just have to be very, very patient with the controls. It is really one of the more difficult controls for vehicles in any game in order to be the most realistic. It amazes me that more people don't get that.

i know how to do flips etc.. but 9 times outa 10 it does something ridiculous.

(and last time i checked boats dont have handbrakes, but you can still use them in IV).

Who are you talking to?

Because if it was me, I know how to make a bike backflip in IV. I was just complaining about the III era where the bikes would stop mid backflip and just rotate sideways.

I wasn't refering to anyone specifically. Just that it seems many people don't seem to get how to learn to drive vehicles in IV. It takes time, something that is a craft.

Why complain about III era when this isn't anything like that.

Sometimes in IV though the bike will spin sideways and have you land going backwards, that ain't right and does need fixing.

The whole changing gear too late thing depends a lot on the way you accelerate. If you press the trigger all the way when you're stopped, the car will slip and stay in first gear for a long time, but if you press it gently and slowly press it all the way, it's gonna be fine. It's the same with bikes. There is a reason why you drive with the triggers in IV instead of buttons, so you can dose acceleration and braking.

What about the PC version?? Here we have either full acceleration or none. Thats a pain in the ass. Specially during riding bikes.

Yeah, I agree they should have made something for those who play with keyboard and mouse. But it's understandable, the game was at first only on 360 and PS3 and both have pads with triggers.

There's the same problem with San Andreas. From what I heard from PC players, they had a tough time beating Zero's mission or get past the flying school whereas on console you have all gold medals quickly. GTA games are first thought for consoles and when they make the PC version they don't adapt it well for the keyboard (except Vice City, I've never played it on PC, but I think the first person aiming with assault rifles and M60 that I hated on PS2 is different on PC).

How was it different on consoles?? I mean: the first person aiming of VC. In the PC version, it was like, you the hold aim button to get first person view and M1 to shoot. Pretty easy and comfortable, same went for SA.

It is indeed true: about Zero's missions as well as The flying school missions. The flying missions took 4 hours for me to get through when I played for the first time and got only silver medals except in the basic tasks like take off and landing. Same happened with car-driving school missions.

If a PC release is simultaneous, I hope they have made some way to get around this problem for PC gamers. Seems unlikely but all I can do is hope.

Ok, I just thought in Vice City PC version, you could aim in third person like with SMGs and pistols, guess the video I saw was from a modded version. Anyway, we can't on PS2, we have to aim in first person and it's very poorly calibrated, making assault rifles and M60 nearly useless.

It wasn't a modded version, you can use the assault weapons in 3rd person view as well i.e.by not pressing the aim button. I can't figure how your first person view wasn't helpful as I used to wish that there was a first person view for all weapons. The only prob in fpv was that you weren't able to move while aiming (in VC). SA solved that issue.

But lets get back to topic here. PC gamers need a better control over acceleration and braking for getting optimum handling.
