Should GTA V have Co-op support?

Remember in San Andreas when we could go to a place near Grove Street, where we can go into a red icon with two people? After going through, your friend could choose to enter into the game as a cop or whatever he chose?

http://www.gtainside.com/downloads/download2/2player1ho.jpg

Well, I was thinking if this feature, the feature of local co-op gameplay, to be added into GTA V. I understand that this feature was inside of SA because there was no online, but this feature wouldn't have hurt GTA IV if it were to be in there. I loved how me and a friend go just roam the city, blow up place, kill people, share the excitement, but in GTA IV it required my to go online, and play with people who would half the time just end up killing you. Many won't see it my way, but all I am trying to say if that it will not hurt the game in any way. We obviously would get online in GTA V, so what is wrong with local gameplay?

How it will work:

I'm thinking these feature can probably be accessed from safe houses in GTA V. There will be a similar icon to SA, where when you step into, it will give the second player to connect and choose his character. After both you and the friend can leave the safe house and explore openly. Maybe R* can add missions which you and a buddy can do.

Will it be splitscreen?

A wide issue, but also an easy issue to solve. Depending on R*'s choice, we probably would get one screen for both players. But, R* can put in two screen so both players can view their own screens and not worry about the other player wandering further away from you and your camera view being disoriented.

What are the limits?

I'll say the same limits as in SA. I was not to keen with the idea of limits, but I can understand a large memory issue. I'll say you could probably be about 5 meters away, and if you wander too far, the game would either just spawn you and your friend back to your safe house, or kill you both. But, limits should very well be in the game, no doubt.

More then two players?

Many would want more than two players on one console to play, but I can see major lag issues with this. And it probably would be way to crowded for the camera. Two players seems good enough, I see no reason to adding more. If R* by any chance does add more, I'll say 3 is the maximum.

Possibility of any of this happening?

Many, many features were stripped from GTA IV, planes being one of them. I think that there might be a 50-50 chance on it happening, but it might just be lower. We don't really see two-player local games from R* anymore, but if they are trying to recreate SA, then this feature would not hurt to add in. I for one would enjoy this feature, and maybe many others. I can understand people saying that whatever I said could be done online, but sometimes we don't have the very best Internet connections, and sometimes we like playing alone aside from the world.

In the future please post this kind of stuff in the wishlist topic. We really don't need so many threads like this.

Thanks.

Sure I'd love to have San Andreas style co-op. Me and my friend had a blast with it, and it sucked that co-op got removed in IV.

So Yeah I'd love local co-op

As much as I loved GTA:SA, the local co-op sucked IMO. The player wouldn't be able to get their own screen due to hardware limitations, which they could get around but the game would look like GTA3 so it'd have to be ball and chain co-op which is awful. All that said, I am hoping they have online co-op in the story mode. Say what you will, co-op makes every game more fun (except when it's ball and chain) and I can't see it being that hard to add as they already have the multiplayer code in.

I think it would have to be specifically made missions for co-op separate from the singleplayer.

GTA:SA style of Co-op would be coold as an OPTION , if its forced on you (like Resident Evil 5) then it would ruin GTA V for everybody..

I swear they've already confrimed a Co-Op mode...

We are very proud to officially announce that Grand Theft Auto V is in full development.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.

A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.

This is all they've confirmed.

Aha a wannabe Moderator. Without threads like these the forums would be dead. If everyone just puts their stuff in the wishlist, what are we supposed to talk about then?

it would be a nice addition to the game, but it's not necessary, and SA was really fun to play local, but it was a bit much "limited" to what we could do. If they can make it a lot better with local play than it would be awesome, but if it's like SA it's just cool.

Yes !! In online multiplayer there should be a co-op mode for 4 players... maybe create your own business/gang? That would be f*cking awesome. Just four people is all I want! But knowing Rockstar you never know what to expect. GTA San Andreas co-op offline was perfect with the two people, I loved it! If GTA V is ala GTA IV graphic-wise and GTA SA feature wise why not?

I'm thoroughly against the main story being fully co-op; it completely disrupts the narrative. You could have this really involved character called Chris, but then tagging along is Chris' mate Dave just in case you decide to play with someone else.

It would make paying for the PS3 version worth it. Instead of doing it just so I can play it asap and not have to wait for PC version.

Obviously YES cool.gif Also, at least 4 players for heist activities? Would be very nice to have it splitscreen with a friend on the couch. But I seriously doubt that's possible on current gen consoles. At least this generation we have online unlike the PS2/XBOX era. But it is a damn shame the coop splitscreen isn't used much in games in general. That's why Halo was such a huge success for the XBOX in the first place.

Seriously, a lot of shooters don't have this option anymore but now even overrated race games like NFS (Burnout) : Hot Pursuit don't have splitscreen multiplayer either suicidal.gif I used to play for hours and hours with a friend splitscreen with the original Hot Pursuit on the PS1. EA really blew it. Also, why the hell don't race games like NFS also don't have replay videos anymore??? I want to see how I drove and where I can improve and I just like watching a cinematic race with different camera angles biggrin.gif EA should be ashamed with both the lack of splitscreen multiplayer and replay videos which were already featured on the PS1 FFS angry.gif

EPIC intro of NFS III : Hot Pursuit including some cinematic camera angles with real shots and rendered real time gameplay cool.gif

Replay video from original NFS III : Hot Pursuit on PS1 and PC

Splitscreen possible on PS1 but not on PS3/360? sigh.gif
