iGrandTheftAuto
What makes GTA IV a good/bad game for you? To me I think the music wasn't good at all. There were probably 2 or 3 good songs in the whole game. Music is a big part of the game to me and I think a song in a different language is alright but at least have a better choice of songs for the songs that are in English. I wasn't a real big fan of Niko or Roman. The story wasn't as interesting as every other GTA in the series. The good? I'm not really sure what was good about GTA IV for me. I think the graphics of the city were great, I liked the fact that they finally brought the statue of happiness into the game to make it really seen like real life NY. I liked a few of the missions, but I didn't like how short they were and how you could fail if a car that you weren't in was destroyed. I feel like if the car is damaged you could steal another. The only time I liked to fail because a car was damaged was when one of the charecters was inside it when it was destroyed.
AceRay
Story... not interesting? Sorry, I can't compute that. Niko is a hugely complex character and Roman is hilarious, but I guess its your sh*tty opinion so your loss. I understand not liking the songs, but there is such a huge variety. I agree that VC has the best soundtrack of all time but when people say "OMG no good songs" they probably only listen to one of two stations. I recently discovered Radio Broker and its a fantastic alternative to Liberty City Rock or LCHC for rock music. Beat has a few good tunes and that jazz one was really snazzy. Oh yeah, and then you have the Vibe, which is fantastic. So, no, the music is not bad at all.
super_slav
The story was awesome, easily the best of any GTA in the past.
sonnyBlack
GTA IV was great. Although since I played so much SA, it took me a bit to get used to the new stations in IV, but I loved the Beat, Classics, LRR, Tuff Gong (<3!), San Juan Sounds, and Massive B had some good sh*t too. Niko was a cool protag to me as I felt a connection with him, although to a lesser extent since I never fought in a war or witnessed the messed up sh*t he seen. But I definitely felt for the poor guy, and it helped me stick with the story from start to finish. Didn't have an issue with Roman either, he wasn't annoying to me. Him and Brucie were very memorable, they were the comic relief I love. The only things that bothered me was the map and that there was not as many fun features to mess around with after the story. I mean since III, I always dreamed of a massive city map like IV's, but SA just spoiled that for me. It showed me how fun having a huge map with lots of 'dead space' (aka countryside) could bring a lot of fun and wonder, so when I finally did get that massive city map we saw in IV, I didn't want it as much anymore, so I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. And the lack of fun cheats, the limited number of taxi missions, limited number of vigilante missions, and lack of other side missions meant there wasn't really much left to do in the game besides go on rampages, or street races. I didn't care for going on play dates with Roman so much, so I usually kept my phone off. Although I enjoyed the street races, it would've been better if there was a Wheel Arch Angels I could've pulled my car into so I could rice out my automobiles. Fast and Furious style. It was still a great game in its own right. LC looked spectacular, I'll still just sit in a taxi and take in all the scenery. They did do an amazing job in its detail. Although it wasn't my all time favorite GTA, it's definitely high up on my list.
Algonquin Assassin
I never used to like GTA IV's music, but when you start to go through the stations it's not that bad. My favorite is The Vibe. Gives me a lot of the smoothness Emotion did in VC. The only thing bad in GTA IV is the lack of rewards. Other than that it's a fantastic game. The story is easily the best in the series IMO. KaRzY6
I have to agree. The story didn't have me attached. The best gta storylines: GTA:SA = Best, loved the storyline. It had me so attached, that i couldn't stop playing it. GTA:VC = I liked the VC story, just wasn't as good as SA. GTA:LCS = Loved this game. To bad didn't come out on PC. GTA:VCS = Didn't mind this. GTA:IV = Loved everything about this game, besides the storyline. GTA:III = To those III fans, I'm sorry, but i hated this That's what i think about all GTA storylines. MUSIC: Hated the GTA:IV music. I liked SA the best, because i love rap. MAP: I hated the map. All city, i liked in GTA:SA how you had the 3 different cities, countyside, desert, mountains etc. Besides the storyline, music and map. I loved it What do you guys think?
Tomern11
What makes it good to me? The stunning graphics, the physics, the storyline, the protagonist, the map, the vehicle wreckage, the video editor, the attention to details. Pretty much everything. Sure, the music was mostly mediocre, but luckily, the music was the only problematic aspect of the game to me. IV is my all time favorite GTA, and video game actually. AceRay
One thing I don't like is how forced the relationship between Kate and Niko was. They had no chemistry and I couldn't really understand why Niko would want Kate so much. In some ways, Kate is like a prototype Bonnie from RDR, but Bonnie is a million times better. She's more interesting because of her role in the story and actually sympathies with Marston rather than Kate who pretty much judges Niko at every opportunity. TSoul1315
Characters: 9/10 Storyline: 10/10 Vehicles: 10/10 Graphics: 10/10 Other Things: 10/10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pros: GTA IV has great graphics. I really like it for what it is. Cons: On Xbox 360 & PC, it seems a little laggy at times. Summary: It's good!

CheesyJ
Generally, the sheer realism of the game was great. The story was interesting and complex, as well as being very realistic as a crime game. The graphics, at that time, was top notch. They really did raise the bar as far as gaming graphics were concerned. The whole city fit into these excellent graphics very well.
Cheat
"What makes GTA IV good" is a question way, way too broad to ask, at least from me. It's purely impossible to give one concrete answer, but I wish not to express the other extremity either and end up rambling about all of the things that make IV such a great game, an unforgettable phenomenon. But one of the most significant singular things that make IV such an awesome game for me personally is how absolutely correctly and beautifully the city of Liberty City has been done, modeled, perfected and filled with ridiculously huge amounts of marvelous details. And it's not just the city's building models and objects I'm talking about, but the general atmosphere - pedestrians walking around, doing realistic things, though satirical, yet real-life reflecting commercials and radio shows blending in with the sound of police sirens, peds having conversations, subway cars rattling against the rough metal of the tracks and car engines humming to create an urbanly hectic, yet ever-so attracting combination of sounds and an unique soundscape of a true metropolis. I've been to New York City, and Liberty City doesn't just have similar vibes - it is similar. It looks and sounds like the Big Apple, the City That Never Sleeps, the atmosphere is perfectly correct to form the most amazing and beautiful setting the video game world has ever seen. bujo
Improved graphics and physics were probably the best thing in IV. The city was smaller than SA,and not so much diverse in lanscape. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but that was probably reason for leaving planes out. Radio stations are ok,but quality of Vice and SA is hard to get. Mine favourite The Journey... The thing that really pissed me of (and many other people) was the very bad preformance in start. It took 4-5 patches to make it right. SA never had those problems, it worked like a clock from day 1. Voice acting (for Niko & Roman) was pretty much dissapointing. Dialogs in serbian were hilarious, i laugh my pants everytime i hear roman say "мислио сам да ћу умрети,и отићи у рај човече" !!! It would be far better idea to hire someone speaking native any slavic language. Niko sounds like 90% of antagonists from american action movies. It takes more than phony accent to sound like a russian Edited December 5, 2011 by bujo

Algonquin Assassin
I thought Brucie was great. Sure he was an idiot, but his role was a good contrast compared to some of the more serious characters in GTA IV.
ccrogers15
Good: The graphics The voices The Music Bad: How characters act rubber. The driving is messed up. The multiplayer is flawed and glitchy. Just to name a few... And to the comment far above, i agree. GTA SA had the best story line and got me attached to. Call me crazy, but it felt like i was in the game and made me mad we could not see ceaser, kendl and sweat outside of missions at the end, and it made me mad we killed ryder and made me sad we killed smoke. To be honest, ive played GTA SA over and over AT LEAST 200+ times. Edited December 7, 2011 by ccrogers15
danjodan
The Good : The graphics were great considering its an open world game. The city is extremely detailed. The voice acting is great and so are the characters. The Bad : The game lags alot on PS3 and sometimes on 360 version. The PC version was awful when first released, Patches have improved it a bit. The MP could have been better.

Vercetti27
Good - Edgy atmosphere. like doing phil bell's missions at night, listening to the journey. Time Square looked amazing New range of missions- like Lure when you can kill the guy by shooting at his tv Great physics Finally a great villain/antagonist that you really hated Bad - Once you've completed the game the only things to do are get stevie's cars, do police work or just cruise the city Lack of things to spend money on Thats it for me
Seleets
I'm probably gonna sound like an asshole, but I loved everything about GTA IV. Every GTA game is unique in one way or another, or at least most of them are. Although I do wish there was more to do after you finish the story. Police Most Wanted, strangers, Little Jacobs' jobs etc... too repetitive.
