SGT. Johnson
Obviously, you're assuming either way. The thing to remember, the time they've spent on the project has been in secret, and NO ONE has been able to concisely say when that DLC project started, they could have teams working on all the mapped areas before anything else, which is how Aaron Garbut admitted the game process works before in GTA's past Ever since finding out we're revisiting old maps, the idea in my mind is that the builds have to be expedited because of new hardware upcoming, and only a limited time developers will work on the current gen consoles, and it's sad in some regard, but exciting moving to next gen as well, since it keeps allowing more progress to be made. I'm pretty sure Vice will come, not necessarily to DLC, but perhaps to PS Vita, and Wii U I don't want Vice City; I'm just saying "It can be done." What I would they rather do is add San Fierro and Las Ventsuras as DLC, so we have a completely redesigned SA. I realize this could be a longshot so I personally would like at least the inclusion of San Fierro because it is still in the state of California (San Andreas). Las Vegas (Ventauras) is stationed in Nevada!!! If none, then I look forward to Las Puerta, San Bernadino, or San Diego.
conopida
No, f*ck that - Vice City deserves it's OWN game. this THIS!!!!!!
Slamman
Come up with something better then 1 word replies. Everyone knows the alternative is it's own game, but the idea is that the map is small enough to do as DLC, however, making it time themed differently is pushing the DLC factor too far ahead of where it's at. MrcTOtheJ
Vice city Warrants it's own game IMO. And odds are the map will be bigger than it was in VC (look at III's LC and then IV's) and 100% redone. If any City DLC happens odds are it'll be the other cities in SA, like Las Venturas or San Fierro, or maybe even a new city that's closer to Los Angles (Los Santos) like San Diego. But I don't see VC happening.

The question is though, how would the city DLC's tie into the story? OT: I say no to Vice City DLC. It deserves it's own game.
MrcTOtheJ
Yeah I have no idea how they'd pull it off. Remeber how we where talking about business empires in that other topic? Well one idea I have could be to have after the story, and you install the DLC you'd basically see an opportunity and go to the next city and there'd be missions focusing on geting some money from various employers there, or just go there and basically have a story focusing on being a boss and taking over LV, or SF. Or if they go the episodes route so to speak the new protag could start in a new city and then get to Los Santos though his story. And if you have the DLC or the Disk installed you could go to the other city(s) in the vanilla game too.
Proud Fool
Isn't the max capacity of a DLC only 2GB or around that much? Can't make a fully detailed VC with that little space, let alone missions and other features.
ZeeKid2k10
Vice City is most boringness GTA.
Slamman
The most BORING GTA is proper English of that opinion. Well, many people felt VC better then GTA 3, and it was. Many people fondly remember it so seeing it again in RAGE gaming tech, worth complaining about/ pining for
walterTM
I'd love to see DLC where you play as a biker. This time with more missions than the last DLCs. I was always looking for a game where you play as a biker. TLAD was good, but I'm looking for a Californian biker gang where you ride across desert and countryside, not in the city like TLAD. Slamman
I say Mark My Words too.. There is rumor of some new location, whether DLC or something else, I am going to say that rumor has enough prior backing for me to believe there's something to it, since the previous rumor was Vinewood! And look.... GTA 5 = Vinewood! You have to remember that Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned all were on one DLC DVD ROM for Xbox. That's why I'm saying some evolution if not more of the same for GTA 5. Edited December 4, 2011 by Slamman
leik oh em jeez!
New city, story, time period... You have got to be kidding me. It wouldn't be DLC, it would be another game.
Slamman
Who says all that? That's a whimsical guess, The idea is DLC would perhaps be a smaller additional map, but share resources, as I mentioned.
leik oh em jeez!
Vice City is across the US from Los Santos. It's not going to happen. IF Rockstar redoes Vice, it WILL be its own game. Mark my words on that. Hell, I'll even put money on it if you don't believe me.
Slamman
...You forgot about planes!! I'm saying to me Vice City was not an amazingly MASSIVE map, and it seems like we're revisiting everything in one way or another
leik oh em jeez!
You're forgetting that can make its own game and sell it for $60 instead of $20. And if they redo it, it'll be bigger this time. Look at III vs IV and SA's LS vs V.
Slamman
I'm thinking a few theories based on how Rockstar handled GTA IV, and one of them is that the maps are created first, before missions and mini games, HOWEVER, the script has to be somewhat developed before hand. People had assumed there was no script, right up until the trailer announcement. You have to expect something unexpected with Rockstar, they are the Fort Knox of gaming after all
Long_Haired_Boy
Why cant Los Santos and Vice City be in GTA V?
leik oh em jeez!
Yeah, doing the same amount of work, but killing 2/3 of your profit is unexpected. Them canceling GTA V right now is also unexpected, that doesn't mean they'll do it. They'll do what makes sense to them. Losing money doesn't make sense. oblivionskate
good hope! but i doubt it too. If they do vice city again I want it to be grand. not a 30 mission dlc. Vice City will return, i might be in my 20's by then (16 now) but it will! lol
Slamman
Well, considering the compression artists and Rockstar's grand scheme to reinvent the meaning and definition of DLC, I'd say it could go in a new direction, Maybe it's just the idea it would disappoint Vice fans if it were only DLC that they are most opposed to
TheGreene2010
They would do a DLC for Las Venturas or San Fierro (If they aren't in the base game) before they do a Vice City DLC.
MarshDanni
Hell no Vice city should be in his own GTA not in a dlc which should be an add on to the L.A GTA VI should be in Vice city
ColeIsaac
I could understand why this wouldnt happen, R* probably wouldnt want to retread on something they've already done (as in 80's Miami). Yeah, it's not like they ever re-treaded on the "present day New York" setting or anything.
Ratone
We don't even know the release date of GTA V nor when the next generation of consoles will be released. I mean, I know people are betting that there will be a DLCs of the same scope (or more) than the ones in GTA IV, but we don't know for sure there will be any. Larikin
Hi guys OP here. I've took everyones comments on board, and the more opinions I read the more I understand the little chance of a project like this making sense. Especially the point one user brought up - they've spent so long creating a HUGE map (according to latest interviews with Dan) - they're gonna want to focus completely on this map for any DLC. I mean thinking about a SA-sized map with the latest technology, there would be so much to see and do to warrant any DLC visiting elsewhere Also the fact that a lot of fans are hungry for Vice City - they're bound to make a full blown game out of it at some point right? Algonquin Assassin
Why do people only want VC as DLC? Isn't it good enough for its own game? Motherf***ers. Seriously though this would make NO sense at all. The whole idea of EFLC was to expand GTA IV's story. Hell even Undead Nightmare for RDR as unrealistic as it was had a small bearing on the original game. This would feel tacked on and un-necessary IMO. I'd love to see VC come back, but as a full game. Not as DLC to a game it has no relation to.
Slamman
Chill, it's just the possibility they could do a Vice map in a DLC type extension, if the idea of expanding the map is done in that regard, it'd again be a new idea for Rockstar to beat others to the table with. @Ratone, You can bet money now then, they WILL HAVE DLC! I'll bet, honestly! haha Edited December 10, 2011 by Slamman
FelipeVinhao
I really doubt a DLC for GTA5 would be Vice City. Because of a summary of everything was already told here and other things: Vice City would deserve its own game; DLC (in the case of GTA) takes place on the original map; It's kind of far of the main story universe and geographically, just as real Los Angeles and Miami; Just because of this distance, if you still believe a DLC will include a new piece of land, it's more plausible to have San Fierro, Las Venturas or a fictional San Diego than Vice City.
