Vice City DLC

I was just thinking, I would totally pay for a TLAD/TBOGT sized Vice City DLC.

Obviously this would be total fan service, 80's themed and everything. I could understand why this wouldnt happen, R* probably wouldnt want to retread on something they've already done (as in 80's Miami). But I think with new characters and the GTAV engine it would still be fresh and interesting - whilst recapturing the 80's vibe that everybody loved about Vice City. I could imagine it selling well.

Size wise it makes sense, the Vice City map wasnt too huge - so a recreation of a map around this size would make sense as DLC.

I think I get so excited over the idea of this because of nostalgias sake - and I'm desperate for some more 80's music! The radio stations in Vice City were my favourite in any game ever!

Buffalo Soldier

No, f*ck that - Vice City deserves it's OWN game.

Why should Liberty City and San Andreas be remade in their own game? And Vice City pushed down to a sh*tty little DLC?

I would rather see a southern Florida based game than a little nostalgia based DLC. Also , why are you thinking about DLC already ? We barley have any details on the base game yet.

GTA V is a new game. Maybe with some old things from GTA SA and features from TBOGT but vice city? No way

GTA V has an own story, listen good to the trailer, listen to what he say

I'm telling you, Vice City will be a PS Vita exclusive & later ported to home consoles. However, it won't be set in the 80's as they would want to reuse cars & other assets from IV & V.

Would like to see Vice City re-created in it's own full game. icon14.gif

DLC should simply be new stories and missions. But the full map of GTA V should be released with the original game.

No,just keep Vice City and Florida for GTA VI,that is what will probably happened,DLC for V will be probably like for IV,on a same map with a few new interiors.

In the time when GTA IV still was not release, they are working on V.

So now V is not released, they might already got started working on VI.

So perhaps, it could be Vice city.

It depresses me to think of how far away this will be. Lets concentrate on V sad.gif

I think they are waiting for new consoles for Vice City, in my eyes and many eyes it was the best GTA yet. They need to get it right.

Go look at some photo's of Miami, I dont want to even begin to imagine how they can approach a new Vice City. Which is probably what they are sitting on thinking about right now.

Stupidest idea ever OP, I feel like I don't need to explain why but I guess I have to.

DLC is not a whole new city. DLC is an add on, as in it'll be new stuff to add to GTAV's LS. R* didn't spend 4 years on a new city to just clear it out and make a new city for DLC.. That's just...

What makes sense is doing a LITTLE GTA map in a DLC variety extension. Vice City was really rather small, and this is Los Santos at least, it should be rather big. Already though, I'm craving new maps. Let's hope that DETROIT CARCER CITY rumor comes to fruition!!

Vice City was small because it had a development cycle of a whopping 6 months. You guys are grasping at straws trying to justify how VC could be DLC. It's just silly. Rockstar is not gonna waste VC on a DLC.

The rumor of a "game changer" could be that instead of DLC offering new story and characters to a common map, they can do both? It's hard to see that I admit, but it's something they might look into. The idea with DLC that we know of is that Red Dead Red offered a major game revision with Undead Nightmare, and it was a great success, I think no DLC before was as impressive

What a load of bunk!!! R* knows the limitations of how much data to put on the disk. There is nothing saying that a whole, other city can't be put on another disk. If you were simply basing that assumption off of the amount of content that did for the GTA IV DLCs, then that is silly because it was an entirely different approach in how R* wanted to make DLCs and the amount of content they decided to put on the disk.

DLC is expansion, yes, but Rockstar set out to see how to define it in their own way... NOT copy other companies' models and that's part of why I see them trying new things with it. For one, it's a shared resources setup, and the basis is using the new engine to create the old game maps in a more realistic fashion, I don't see it jumping back in time to the 1980s, but allowing the GTA V characters a new map for instance

Creating a full current-gen GTA city just to have 20-30 missions story with new gameplay activities? that won't happen. If there's a DLC for GTA V, it would something within the original map of the game, no additional areas will be added.

Once again, if we take the:

"GTA IV was a foundation for future ones" theory, then R* used the DLC as test subjects so they could expand exactly for this purpose.

Obviously, you're assuming either way. The thing to remember, the time they've spent on the project has been in secret, and NO ONE has been able to concisely say when that DLC project started, they could have teams working on all the mapped areas before anything else, which is how Aaron Garbut admitted the game process works before in GTA's past

Ever since finding out we're revisiting old maps, the idea in my mind is that the builds have to be expedited because of new hardware upcoming, and only a limited time developers will work on the current gen consoles, and it's sad in some regard, but exciting moving to next gen as well, since it keeps allowing more progress to be made.

I'm pretty sure Vice will come, not necessarily to DLC, but perhaps to PS Vita, and Wii U

Vice City can, and should be its own contained game. Even if they were to only focus on the city itself(which would be a travesty) for DLC, it would be way too risky. This is because they would have to count on a large enough fanbase owning machines that contain enough memory to hold such a large file(many newer, value priced 360's come with next to no disk space).

Im sure Rockstar has thought about such scenarios, which is why it wouldn't surprise me if V had a dual release(disc and DLC), and the marketing team really put emphasis on the fact that it can be downloaded during the lead up to release.

I believe that we will be surprised by what R* has in store for V's DLC(local city add-ons, character add-ons, etc), but Vice wont be one of those surprises.

I would also be curious as to how R* would approach a modern day VC, as the previous game had such a deep emphasis on Vice/Miami's identity circa 1985, and that identity died with the 80's. Cant wait to find out...
