MrcTOtheJ
Ok so let me start off by saying, This is not a "Ways to make Money topic" This is a topic discussing empire construction like in VCS, and if it will return and how it will work. Evidence hinting at Empire propriety In the trailer we see a man hammering in a Foreclosure/for sale sign in front of his house, now by no means dose this instantly mean we'll be buying houses and businesses but it is a minor hint. Also Rockstar released a statement saying the game will focus on "The pursuit of the Almighty Dollar..." which could mean in these economically challenged times running a criminal empire. Also it seems the Protag/narrator has been around the world of crime for quite some time so he might want to use his knowledge to run the city. How will it work? Will rather simply for just buying a house. You'd walk up to the sign and click, say Triangle on the PS3 or Y on the X-Box 360 and the house is yours. Or you could call the number on the sign and buy it that way. (Idea provided by GTAGaming1) For businesses it'd be the same initially, accept once you go in there'd be a icon where you could manage your business, what type of business will it be, will there be a cover business to cover any illegal activity there (more on this later) and things to improve the business such as additions to the building, and new equipment for what ever is going on there. Unlike in VC the building won't be generic and dependant on what business type it is, it'll be an actual building that you'd buy that is for the most part static, you'd be able to change things about it , such as restore some dump of a house in the ghetto, or renovate some old Warehouse on the docks. Types of Business that could be ran could be anything from drug smuggling stash houses, to even official businesses. Also official business could be used as a cover to take police attention off of what ever illegal activity is going on there, though you'll have less room to do what ever shady things you do there. The Police Force... And You! Running an illegal business will attract police heat, there'd be side missions that would focus on reducing this, or alternatively you could halt whatever is going on at a business for a time to reduce heat, but that means reduced profits too. Or alternatively you could pay the cops off. After a business's heat reaches a certain level your business will be raided, you'll get a call or text from an employee there saying they need your help, and you can stop it, though that usually means more heat on your empire as a whole. Legit businesses such as restaurants and the such, will not attract heat, unless they are a cover business for something else. Other Gangs Much like geting grief from the local police, other criminal empires will come to focus on your empire too, trying to take over business and turf that belongs to you. When an attack begins you will much like with a raid, receive a call or text from an employee to get over there and help. You can help or lose a business to the game your choice, Lose money, or lose bullets? There'd also be the opportunity via side missions to take out other gang's business or forge a treaty with a gang so they won't f*ck with your sh*t. Why should it be in? Well it seems GTAV will have a major focus on money, making it, spending it, etc. What better way for a criminal to make it that to rise up though the ranks of the criminal underworld that is Los Santos than to end up running a giant Empire and gang along with it? So what do you fine people of GTAFourms think? Yay or Nay to running an empire? Edited December 2, 2011 by Mr.c TO the J

I think on the Tralier the house was on sale and it had a number with it to so never no you just ring that number and buy the house so it's a another hint that we might see mobile phones
MrcTOtheJ
Huh, calling the real estate agent to buy it, that's something I haven't considered yet, and it could work since odds are the Mobile Phone is returning. Good Idea, I'll update the OP and give you the credit.
tmac9wr
Cool concept. I think it would be great to have the pre-set buildings that Vice City had (making fake money, etc) that you could get interesting missions from...but also wouldn't mind these static buildings you're suggesting. Could be a cool way to go.
Leve-O
Really liking the ideas here! I loved the empire system in VCS, so I think it would be awesome to expand on that. Would be cool to use businesses as a way of washing your money.
MrcTOtheJ
I'm glad to see other people like the idea of this returning, IMO the empire construction of VCS really made the game stand out. @tmac9wr Well they'd be pre set like the buildings in VC like the printing company, that’s what I meant by static, though you'd be able to change what you'd be making to doing there to some extent like VCS, but unlike VCS changing the business type would change the building 100% there'd be some minor differences but it'd follow the same lay out. skillz7855
I think the guy selling the house could possibly be the protagonist so it could be the property your selling.
