Looting Bodies.

I have never seen this brought up before, and searched and didn't find anything. Would you like it if we had to actually loot dead bodies to get money instead of it just laying on the ground after they're dead? I think this would add to the realism Rockstar is seeming to go for. Also maybe find other random things while looting. Like guns, or melee weapons. It might be cool to be able to look through there wallets also LA Noire style. See their ID's maybe photos of their family's, to maybe make you think about your morals. Just a though.

Looting bodies can be interesting if

1- Money is hard to come by.

2- There is a risk doing so.

Meaning, turning it into a risk vs reward gameplay decision.

I'm fairly content with the current method of running through piles of magically floating cash in order to collect it, it's become a staple of the series for me. And nothing beats blasting away a bum with a shotgun and seeing a massive pile of cash appear out of nowhere.

I guess I wouldn't be too upset if they made us have to loot dead bodies, it wouldn't be very difficult. But I feel the current way works just fine and if it were up to me I wouldn't change it.

I'm not sure.

I think the classic GTA method is like a trademark and it would be a shame to lose it. However the looting is definately a more realistic and interesting way to collect cash (and other items) from your victims. I really liked it in RDR, but in GTA those stacks of cash on the ground have always been apart of the series. I don't really care either way.

I liked it in RDR, but it got annoying really fast, one thing I liked about GTA, always have, is during missions some of those enemies drop some good bank and you can just run past them as you go on to the next objective and get the cash, with RDR it was a pain in my ass and a bit time consuming. Good idea in concept, but didn't work out for the best, and I think it was only in because of things like Snake Oil and chewing Tobacco.

Personaly I thinkg trademark sticking with the Glowing money to be the way to go.

Looting would be a great idea. It doesn't have to be full-blown Fallout 3 style looting, it could just be to find things like money and small weapons like switch blades and pistols.

I was so annoyed by the enemies in GTA IV free-roam who would take out a gun to shoot at you, but as soon as the police arrive, they tuck their guns away and run away, and if you kill them, they wont drop a thing. If you were able to loot, you'd be able to get the guns and ammo from these gangsters without having to provoke them to take their guns out, and kill them all before police arrive.

Plus, it will be a great addition in terms of atmosphere, and gives a much darker, seedier feel to the game - especially when your desperate for money.

Also, all enemies can carry extra ammo on them, so if you risk the extra time to loot them, you'll get much more than the one clip already in their gun. Finally, all law enforcement and some criminal gunmen will each carry a back-up pistol on them if you decide to loot them.

An option to rob people on the street without killing them sounds better. Looting would just rise problems and wouldn't really be GTA.

It's called the Wishlist topic isn't!

Couldn't you say that about any topic?

I wouldn't be shocked if they took the looting bodies idea from Red Dead Redemption. Either way works for me. icon14.gif

I wouldn't mind if its implemented into the game the same way that looting is in the Assassin's Creed series, but if it was to be turned into a mini game, I'd have to say no. It would be fun at first, but would also get old fast.

Um no because I don't necessarily want this. I want to know what other people thought of the idea. So stop trying to be a wanna be mod and GTFO.

So since people like the cash just floating there, maybe they could have some cash fall on the ground, but if you decide to loot the body you would get extra cash, and maybe weapons.

I'd love to see body looting. Money just floating around always bothered me in GTA games. In RDR it worked just fine.

All it would accomplish would be adding a pointless extra step to retrieving items from dead bodies and would largely just add nothing. Oh, except of course realism. Because that brick wall of an argument excuses every damn thing doesn't it? You could have a GTA game where you'd have to shave, go to the bathroom, eat, fill up your car, buy groceries, read the news paper, and drink a cola every night or risk him falling asleep in the street and you'd still all cheer because those are all realistic things. Well I think from now on if someone uses the realism argument, they have to support it with other arguments, otherwise they're just trying to end the debate early and knock of for lunch. Because being a game, it still fundamentally isn't real life and real life is boring and stodgy anyways so I don't know why people want GTA to perfectly replicate all the annoyances while all the fun parts, such as arcade games, amusement parks, base jumping, and doing loop de loops in a fighter jet are excluded because those are unrealistic for a criminal whose life should suck all the damn time. It makes no sense. Why are only the bad parts of life worth exploring? Why not the good parts as well? Can someone answer that?

I would love for this feature to return in GTA V, it was brilliant in RDR and helped the game feels more real having the character search a body after gunning them down to steal money and ammo. This whole "not trademark GTA" so what, a lot of what was in GTA IV wasn't "Trademark GTA".

If I'm being honest, the old method felt out of place in GTA IV, getting into a gun fight on a stormy night in Algonquin against gang members, diving for cover and gunning them down one by one only to have the area light up with Glowing Green Money and Glowing Red Guns.

As long as it doesn't come into MP i'd be fine with it.

MP needs the dropped floaty money or you'd just get murdered time and time again trying to loot. Plus bodies dissapear.

I would also like pickpocketing, again similar to Assassins Creed.

The reason to put it in is to create a risk vs reward mechanic; you stand to gain cash and other valuables, but while you wait for the looting timer to tick away a guard/police officer might see you and raise the alarm. It's okay in in some games, but if you get into a big fight then the looting itself can get quite tedious afterwards because it's easy to forget which bodies you've done already.

GTA is very tightly balanced already so that police chases are a fairly regular event, depending on how meticulous you are in your strategy. If you introduced the looting of bodies, you'd have to rebalance everything else and that could mess the game up in either of two ways: one, you end up yawning because you're almost constantly being pursued by the police because of the looting, or two, you get to a point in the game where it's no longer necessary to loot bodies for cash because you're rich enough and therefore you get into trouble with the police much less regularly than you did in the early stages.

I can see it working for certain things with NPCs, maybe non-cash/weapon items, but it would destroy part of GTA's remaining arcade-like charm if they didn't drop cash/weapons in the way they've always done until now. Who would really want to lose the current system, that you can run at full speed over the ground and pick up a shotgun just because you touched it, and instantly select it and turn around shooting it at people? It's great fun. Some games would want you to stand completely still and press a key to crouch down and pick up the gun before you could use it, but they're not GTA.

Im happy just sticking with the floating green wads, it wouldnt feel like GTA if it werent there.

Agreed. There's something satisfying about going on a big killing spree and seeing green wads everywhere. Having to search each body instead just seems tedious and unnecessary to me, in a game which really doesn't need to be that realistic.

They could make it even more realistic than Red Dead Redemption: examine a body's hands and pockets individually like in L.A. Noire. devil.gif

Only if you can freeze time while doing so. lol.

I can't see that working in GTA. Damn it get's so tedious in L.A. Noire too.

It's like "Look ma, I can move his hand and head" "Why son?" "For absolutly no reason at all ma".

I'd assume Multiplayer would switch to the RDR version, you know, actually being good! tounge.gif

What I mean is, Kills and other mission based stuff would grant you XP, Money is just a side bonus to get more XP.
