imagine GTA V in first person

As an optional feature? Why not, as long as it isn't the main focus and dosen't take from third person.

Honestly I wouldn't use it I like the third person view of every GTA from III onwards.

Yeah while I don't see it hapening, haveing it as an option won't hurt, I won't use it but it'll be nice for those who want to.

How is this not cool? Why would you be against having this as an OPTIONAL feature?

Having watched that video, I reckon it looks great. I actually want to re-install IV just so I can use that mod.

Off topic, welcome to burger shot motherf*cker! How classic. It's that kind of humor that makes the GTA series what it is. That, and pets overnight.com

I can't see anything wrong with it being included. It wouldn't be forced on players, it can just be one more option when you're cycling through views. Besides, GTA games have had front bumper cams when you're driving, which is simply a first-person view from the POV of the car.

A cockpit view would be awesome, but it would require plenty of spiffing up of IV's lacklustre car interiors.

If it was optional I'd check it out sometimes. I can see it being cool for shootouts. Don't care for it so much for vehicles though, when I'm driving in GTA I like to be able to admire and look at the car I'm driving since some look rather nice to me.

Even though I don't mind the option, but then I thought, was there ever a FPS game that you play as a criminal? I mean in every FPS game, you play as a soldier/marine in either a real life setting (MW series, BF3), a historical setting (Wolfenstein series, the COD series that is non-MW) or a futuristic setting (Halo, Doom etc). I never really recalled a FPS game where you can play as a criminal. If R* could make a GTA spin-off using FPV, it will be a refreshing new idea for the stale "soldier boy" storyline FPS games that are being released nowadays.

Yeah, that video's pretty f*cking sweet.

One thing that I've never liked about the people of this message board is the fact that they always try to deny others the fun of using an optional feature. I can understand people saying things like "no, I'd rather have the game take place in Vice City" or "I'd rather not have to complete 'X' type of mission to beat the game," simply because things like that are not optional.

But when it comes to adding certain cheats, certain views, or any other optional feature, it's rather selfish to say that "no, I'd rather not have this feature in the game, simply because I do not like it."

It's optional; if you don't like it, don't use it.

Totally agree, some people apparently need to look up the word OPTIONAL - it's like they don't know what it means.

Or, they seem the think that they way the play and view the game is the only possible way the game could be played.

Or,

Like I said previously, too many people are just set in their old ways and can't accept new innovations like this.

I want the FPS Option icon14.gif .

Please god no, or at the very least just make it optional. HATE 1st person games, all the way back to Goldeneye & Duke Nuke 'Em. Always made me dizzy, and I hate how you constantly bump into stuff at your feet but can't even see it because your vision range is so limited.

In short, it rattles me. A lot.

first person makes game environments look like poop  dozingoff.gif

Have you ever heard of Battlefield?

wow, you're not very knowledgeable on this stuff.

Battlefield is made to be a first person shooter. the reason why third person shooters like gta can have such huge environments yet they look "good" is because the camera is further away from the objects. try adjusting the camera so that a pedestrian's face is right in the camera. doesn't look so good does it? the textures won't look as nice zoomed up either.

I don't mind this concept. People assume you will lose your connection from the main character but imo there are enough cut scenes in the game to see your character and how he acts. It should only be an option though. To take away from the GTA style of 3rd Person would hurt the franchise ultimately.

I don't see the problem if it's optional.

^Yeah this^

Personally, I think I'd prefer normal view, but 1st person would be cool to try out, so if it were optional that would be great.

definately yes - and make it an optional thing (like adding on another view when you cycle through the views).

People say it decreases immersion with your character but I disagree. And on top of that, it increases immersion with the environment and surroundings. Has no one watched that video posted?? Here:

.

That looks f***ing amazing. It feels more immersive. The sounds of the city seem to be more alive and real. Also for people who like to 'act as a tourist' and just explore the city at slow pace can enjoy this little feature. I don't see how it hurts the game at all, all it is, is doing what those first person mods are and I'm sure Rockstar can pull that off.

And also, when I play GTA V, I'm most likely going to use the traditional third person view but only when I'm bored or just want to explore, walk around, soak in the incredibly detailed Los Santos etc... I'll be switching to first person.

I like acting like a tourist in GTA! biggrin.gif

There are WAY too many first person shooters out on the market. Why ruin one of the best things about the GTA franchise?

Dear god. Why are people so thick headed.

OPPPP SHUNNNNN ALLL. How is this not getting through to people. Im going to go hide in the cellar in fear of catching some stupid from the rest of the world.

It's a pretty cool way to explore the city on foot, but it's actually a surprising amount of work. Assuming they let you use it in vehicles, they have to make sure the camera is in a good position (so you can see out of all windows) in every single vehicle in the game, then make the shooting feel good in first person (weapon models will need improving a lot) and more. I'd rather see the amount of work needed to make first person work put into other areas of the game to be honest.

I hope it never does. FPS is all the rage for shooters, but not for GTA, and never will be. I would bet you money that they just won't go in that direction with the franchise

Id love it. I loved it in III/VC, it was one of my favorite features (especially VC on xbox bc you could leave the camera in first person while staning still) . You havent lived until youve enjoyed a nice breakfast watching the VC traffic go lazily by in first person and headphones, its like youre dining at a cafe in sunny Vice City.

As soon as I get a bloody computer that can actually run that gigantic piece of crap port that is GTAIV for PC, im going to download some first person mods.

I swear, you are thebiggest troll, hypocrite, and basher of the GTA series I have ever met, and I've met Saints Row fanboys turn.gif

Third person ftw, FPS for a free roaming non-shooter is crap. Doing things like in Uncharted 3 is impossible. GTA V imo should have the move-freedom as Uncharted 3. I mean, have you seen the gameplay? It's not like you're watching animations anymore!

If I'm right, Max Payne 3 has this too, so GTA V might have good animations too.

Only if you can switch. It shouldn't be permanent. Perhaps it is a cmera view that you can select by pressing the "Select/Back Button". Other than that, NO!

Now, for vehicles and aircraft/seacraft, I would definitely say that we should have SOME form of Cockpit Mode. The insides would have to heavily detailed or somewhat similar to their counterparts.

Have you ever heard of Battlefield?

I use to hate first person until I played MW2, then battlefield.

But I don't prefer first person, even if it was optional because it'll take away the sharp graphics. turn.gif

I mean it's alright in those simulation games, but this is not that type of game, you'll get that in every GTA once you're on a vehicle, however.

Zee is mentioning the mode where you leave a character without moving the controls, the view switches to observing things in the environment, that's likely to stay in the GTA mechanics as well, or a similar thing to avoid burn in (screen graphic residual) Screen Saver effect

Hell no! GTA has NEVER been in first person and I doubt it will ever be...

I don't see the problem in being an option to enable it, though...For those who wanna try.
