R* said before that 3rd person view is more cinematic and fun. I agree with them. So no.

With first person you lose a lot of things, for one, the physics engine. How would you see Niko fall or his car crash? This would ruin the game for me. Watching Niko crash (especially through the front windshield) was one of the most entertaining things in IV. Secondly, you immediately lose customization! How are you able to see your clothes, muscle and car if you can only see what's in front of you? You'd need a hell of a lot of mirrors.

I don't see the problem if it's optional.

Agreed.

BUT, the only problem with that is that the third person and first camera's probably wouldn't feel that "fluid" for say because they aren't just focusing on one camera, but two, so it could loose some smoothness.

I'd like first and even second person view, but as a view option. It would greatly improve the game fan base to those who enjoy FPS.

FPS driving I'd like. with more realistic features including active instrument cluster, etc.

Again, no first person for GTA

Look out, he's made his point. I'll get on the phone to the Houser brothers and tell them not to put 1st person in the game.

Id love it. I loved it in III/VC, it was one of my favorite features (especially VC on xbox bc you could leave the camera in first person while staning still) . You havent lived until youve enjoyed a nice breakfast watching the VC traffic go lazily by in first person and headphones, its like youre dining at a cafe in sunny Vice City.

As soon as I get a bloody computer that can actually run that gigantic piece of crap port that is GTAIV for PC, im going to download some first person mods.

I agree with Rockstar also. I prefer third person, but they should have both, along with the top down camra. Just for kicks. Sometimes I want to play GTA in first person, but usaly I like 3rd too. The top down camra idea would just be for kicks and isnt that hard to code. It will reference the old GTA games, but I'm not saying they crap up the graphics.

As much as I love realism and that would step it up a notch towards realism, I agree with everyone else in keeping it as third person cause you do get more enjoyment out of it. Even though it would be amazing to see headshots up close lol

Manual view settings would be a fantastic addition to the game. Prefer top down? Move the camera up with the analog stick, set a height, save as custom view 1. first person? move the camera in and save as custom view 2. 2nd person? Move the camera and position it just over their shoulder.

I'd also Like the car view fixed up. I know it seems more realistic having the car view centered on where the character is (driver seat), but it gets a tad annoying when the car is offset. Perhaps move the camera over when you're targeting out the window?

I don't see why we shouldn't have the option of a first-person viewpoint (a la Driv3r). If it's one of the cycleable viewpoints, then there would be no harm done.

See I think the option for it could be cool.

How would you see Niko falling? Through his eye's.

I take it you never played "Dead Island", you get hit by a big Thug zombie and you go flying, it is 1st person and it looks so cool when your flying sideways.

Now going through the windshield would be even cooler if you had in car view, it would be such a shock.

So many guy's here set in old ways, "It has to be this way because it always has been", don't knock it till you try it.

New good bad idea, lock the camera views rather than access to the entire map. The game starts out as classic top down view only and one has to earn their way to the latest camera accomplishments.

How is this not cool? Why would you be against having this as an OPTIONAL feature?

How is that not the coolest thing ever?

Like I said previously, too many people are just set in their old ways and can't accept new innovations like this.

Yeah, that video's pretty f*cking sweet.

One thing that I've never liked about the people of this message board is the fact that they always try to deny others the fun of using an optional feature. I can understand people saying things like "no, I'd rather have the game take place in Vice City" or "I'd rather not have to complete 'X' type of mission to beat the game," simply because things like that are not optional.

But when it comes to adding certain cheats, certain views, or any other optional feature, it's rather selfish to say that "no, I'd rather not have this feature in the game, simply because I do not like it."

It's optional; if you don't like it, don't use it.
