gurral
So, I'm playing GTA IV and EFLC on my PC. Playing on medium textures, pretty low (10-20) on view distance etc. with these specs: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 1GB OC AMD Athlon2 X4 645 3,1Ghz 8GB Corsair DDR3 RAM 1333mhz I know my CPU isn't more than okay (if you want too max all games), but my big problem is the very variable framerate. I can have really good stretches of like 10 minutes when everything runs like a dream, between 40-50 FPS with low peaks at like 35, can drive through Star Junction at like 40FPS. Then SUDDENLY, it starts to stutter, and my FPS drops to like 20-30 with occasional peaks around 35. It can even go as low as 15 sometimes, especially when driving on the Algonquin Bridge towards Algonquin. I do not have any other applications running when playing (besides when I sometimes use FRAPS to show FPS, which doesn't seem to decrease performance noticeable), I use to even turning on the "gaming" mode on AMD Fusion to get even better performance. Any tips on getting more constant FPS? Preferably around atleast 35-40, as I think it is around there the game runs just fine. I have vsync off btw, not noticed any huge difference when turning vsync on
friendly luggage
Check your temperatures with HWMoniter because if something gets too hot it will throttle down to avoid damage. If you look at the floor and then look into the distance towards the city does the frame rate drop by a lot? Your system isn't weak so you shouldn't have a problem with medium to high settings. Oh and yeah keep vsync off as it just stops screen tearing but even with it off I've only seen one or two screen tears while playing. There's myths about it affecting the fps and loading times while on. Back on the point what are your shadows set at? I find if I go to the last island around the top where's theres loads of trees that's where my fps drops the most.

mkey82
For some reason, star junction does have great performance, the most fluid part of the map for me.
