Notification when quoted?

Is there a feature to get a notification when one of my post is quoted??

Not as far as I know. But, there's another trick. Go to Search and search for your name deepthroatgta6 and you'll find all posts that mention your name, including quoted posts. If you find it difficult, just click this link every time you want to see if there's any kind of discussion about you.

I used to do that (search my name) but was wondering if there was any feature available.

I've searched with the deepthroatgta6 name. It's still pretty confusing, since the censorship applies on the Search Engine too. Try searching with both names, and see if there are different results.

Highly different results.

Searching "chevy chasegta6" gives those posts which have my name filtered while "deepthroatgta6" gives the unfiltered posts i.e. fresh quotes.

Posts in which the filter has been bypassed deliberately are not found in any search.

I think those "bypassed" posts are the ones that have the deepthroatgta6 user name, since it logically should only find the word, not the way it was written.

It's damn confusing, maybe we should just ask the admins to remove that censorship.

That's because you have written that - before your name, so it becomes a new word with that. Remove it or leave some space and it should appear in the search.

It isn't straightforward. Quoting just inserting their post into yours, wrapped with the BBcode to show who you're quoting - but this is completely editable. It's just text in other words. Searching for your own username is the trick I use, and it works well if you set up the options correctly.

The quote button can be linked to an automated PM or a pop up notification action. If someone uses the quote tag, this won't work though but it could be a useful feature. Anyways, sticking to the search function till then.

Not in this version of Invision Power Board. IPB 3.1 has this feature, whenever a post by you is quoted, you get a Facebook-ish notification on the top. Though I think it'd be extremely hard if not impossible to incorporate it here and I don't think the staff will mod this even more

The server might have a heart attack if it sends a notification every single time you get quoted, on top of all the other things it's doing. Not to sound like a dick, but why don't you just....remember where you posted? Every time I come to the forums I go to basically the same places, so I check each one for new replies to threads I've joined. Old school, baby. Use your memory.

That's what I do too, except in the V forums which the OP seems to frequent more. It'd be virtually impossible to keep track of your posts in that spamfest of a forum. But everywhere else, remembering works fine.

miromiro's suggestion is ALMOST working for me so not having any issue now. Keeping track of my posts in the V forums is just impossible for me so I think I'll stop doing it now. Search function will be helpful.

I think keeping track of your posts across the forums is difficult, why does it matter anyway? Just remember where you have posted and keep reading the topics. Having the system notify you every time you were quoted will kill the servers.

Why not track the topic? If you save that function for the ones you need to know about in the V section that are hard to keep up with, it will suffice just fine. At the bottom of any page in a thread click Options and Track This Topic.

^ Been doing that. Its more about keeping track of on-going conversations in between of a heap of spam or not always spam but a huge number of posts, for e.g. Trailer analysis thread.

If you're wanting to keep track of ur posts, just go to your profile and click "Find all posts by this member" and click Post preview on the post u wanna see in the topic, and voila.

I already knew about the function. Its basic and in daily use man. The same problem goes here: have to read so many posts to find any replies.

And to call it off, I am okay with not getting notifications. The search function is satisfactory and so is "tracking topics", "previewing my posts" and "REMEMBERING" as well. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
