I loved those pictures, one of my favourites was the one of Marilyn Monroe with her back to the camera, I read the text under and it said something about not even having to see her face to know who she was she was so famous.

Alright, so yes, the video says "day 1" and it isn't "day 1", but shut up. It's Christmassy, damn it.

Okay, time for something to play with. A big thing about Christmas is toys after all, and even if we are a little old for most of them, it doesn't stop us having a little fun from time to time, and that's all year round. Let's move into the 21st century a bit and go all digital on this sh*t. The premise is simple - give this stick man life, and give him an adventure. Be careful what you draw though...

Anyway, RIS that image on Google leads you to quite a disappointing Snopes page.

Haha that's a letdown. At least now I don't have to stay up at night wondering how that turned out.

Also Craig, my sis already sent me the Draw a Stick Man thing yesterday. tounge.gif

There's a few things today, so clicking the box will only give you one of them.

First, it's a recent discovery of mine which, while cool, isn't really enough to warrant a day of it's own. It's a zombie font, or rather, the zombie font. Alright, yes, it's Christmas, but even the undead want to get involved sometimes. Haven't you always wanted to give somebody your delicious brains? Make a difference this year. Close the lid of your laptop and go and volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Secondly, let me just say I'm a sucker for food. I don't care what it is so much, I just love it. I admire the way dishes are made and presented, and find it increasingly difficult to get good food. I'm not much of a cook myself, but I understand some of you may well be, so here's a recipe for something dubbed "Fancy Macaroni". Ignore the "woman" part of the URL and the blatant female representation through-out, 'cos this dish looks tremendous. Let's usher in the age of the male cook and give the gift of food this year.

Lastly, I lied - there are more photo-based gifts. Here's another lot, this time showing cleverly crafted "see-through" screens. Real photographs are used and strategically made into desktop backgrounds to create the illusion of a hollow computer.

Thanks. I'm not a cook, but I appreciate many do like to cook over the festive period (and not just the main dinner) so I may toss in a few more recipes I've found if people are up for it.

10th is not going to be over, it's only quarter to 3 in the afternoon, and that's with GMT...

Well, maybe. It'll still be there when you wake up? Along with 11 perhaps. Just think of it like you forgot to open the door, so you have two waiting for you. That's how I did it. Either that or eat them all on the 24th and cry.

I've had a go myself and it's suprisingly difficult. Well, I say surprising, I didn't expect it to be easy exactly but I had a bit of difficulty. It turns out I have less control over aspect ratios on my laptop than I'd like. I suppose with a bit of work I could make one but I don't spend enough time looking at my desktop to make it worthwhile. That, I'd probably turn my laptop on hungover and wonder what the hell was going on. Anyway, moving on.

Only a quick one today because I'm not feeling too hot, but the show goes on. Besides, I don't know how much I can explain about today. I'm giving you a collection of 20 beautiful scenic wallpapers because finding one to use can be a pain in the arse.

Also, have a story about rats showing empathy because I feel it's quite relevant to Christmas. Why? In a roundabout way, it shows that even rats will help their own in times of distress and need, often showing little regard for reward. There's a saying I know; "you can always judge a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him". I love that quote, and it rings true all year round, not just at Christmas time.

Finally, just because...

Well, I did say I'd throw in a red herring.

No idea, but I bet they're regretting these two loose in it.

I had my rotator going for a good few months showing all kinds of gorgeous looking nature backgrounds, but like I said, I didn't really see my desktop all that much to feel like I was using it enough. I definitely cycle through a lot of these styles of wallpaper though. Best thing is, I don't have any icons on my desktop so it's just pure bliss.

Same as what I did. Downloaded that 'XP Winter Pack' thing that allows for rotating desktops, turned all my icons off, and made it so that taskbar automatically hides itself. I always have music playing on my PC at night, so tend to leave the desktop on, and these are just what I was after.

I feel good about my hand-picked wallpaper. I only change it once in a long while. Maybe today is a good day for a change. Thanks for the material Craig, great stuff.

I have about 40 nice wallpapers in my rotator and maybe 3 of them are sexy women style ones. Naturally my wife only enters my office when one of the sexy chicks is my wallpaper.

Let's thank Craig for this entertaining advent calendar. Thanks for doing this, Craig.

A good exercise for the heart is to bend down and help another up.

You ever have that "I wish I had thought of that" moment? Join the club. Be it emails to Santa for a small fee or double sided tape for those awkwardly shaped gifts, everyone has an idea but then feels disappointed to know that it's so simple it's groundbreaking. Some of them are actually so complex they're... well, still simple. You'll get what I mean.

Also, we all remember Line Rider, but points indeed go to the creator of this video who made a somewhat "festive" track that makes my efforts in college look like a three year old drew it on a napkin.

Finally, I present to you, a very merry Christmas bad-ass.

Love you, Craig.

Gotta say, I don't go for the typical scenic backgrounds. Pretty pictures of scenery, doesn't do much for me. Just gives me an 'office' kind of feel. I feel no more emotional connection to such images as I do for the default Windows pictures. Just my preference.

"Emotional connection" might be a bit of an embellishment, but I do feel like I would like some sort of attachment to my wallpaper. It is, after all, the only thing on my desktop, save for my RAM and CPU widget. I hide/remove all the shortcuts.

I used to have a rotator, and I have a folder dedicated solely to wallpapers, but when I got my new computer, I decided to pick one and stick with it. This is the one I chose.

Some other ones I like:

A cat apparently looking out a spaceship window.

A tree on a serene hillside (personal favorite).

Simply, a fox in the snow.

Secondly, I hope you don't mind me using your thread to pimp my Youtube videos...I'm not too concerned with playcounts and all that, but I like to show this band to whoever's willing to hear it. I believe I showed you already, Craig, I'm talking about Organic Stereo.

The other night, I was up all night uploading simple videos (really, just images with the music over it). I had uploaded one a year ago (She Has a Rainbow) and it quickly became my most viewed video. I liked associating songs with images like I did, and it seemed like people at least wanted to hear the music, so I did the whole album.

Hope you enjoy.

For those looking for an organic, wintery sound, Organic Stereo and Boards Of Canada are the way to go.

While we're on the subject of wallpapers, I was wearing this one long into February before I took it off. There's a better version somewhere on my computer where it's cleaner and with a black background, but I can't find it for the life of me.

Look at that, I'm giving you stuff and it isn't even time for today's box.

Christmas to me was always about TV. In the UK, it's a ritual - Queen's speech, a crappy quiz show tarted up with tradition and either a Bond film or Jason & The Argonauts. As I got older, this never changed, but the level of cheap wine from my gran did. I'd be lucky if I made it through five minutes of ma'am's drivel. However, there are some films so bad that they're crap all year round. No amount of alcohol or Christmas cheer can make them any better, so here's 10 films so bad they're hilarious. If you see any of these being shown on TV (or in the bargain bin at the DVD rental shop), avoid it and go and pull your uncle's cracker instead.

To conclude, it seems that even museum curators have a sense of humour...
