UberChargedCJ
i have to say something about ESRB's M rating that is more like NC-17 and "no children under 17" the M rating must be unrestricted if accompanied by a adult or parent i do like R rating because is unrestricted if accompanied such as Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian i love MPAA for under 17's need to be accompanied the ESRB is more like USK OFLC (NZ) and BBFC however you can buy R rated movies if your under 17 and accompanied the M rating should be like "under 17's must be accompanied by parent or adult guardian" the M rating should be unrestricted if accompanied right? at the back of the case will say "under 17's must be accompanied by parent or adult guardian" where it says that game contains Edited December 1, 2011 by UberChargedCJ

x kgSully x
It's weak enough, hearing little 10 year olds screaming on GTA IV nearly killed me, and all CODs. The restrictions never impacted me, seeing as I can go out and buy my games without question.
jnzooger
The M rating is like the R rating where with parental consent, anyone under 17 can play/see it. You seem to have parents that are properly protective of you and seem to hate it. How about you grow up a little and learn to stop complaining about everything. Maybe then your parents will see you as mature enough to play the M rated games or see the R rated movies.

UberChargedCJ
yes... well here in australia we can. (not that i need my parents) so in australia OFLC rates GTA V as R18?
JoshGTAfreak
The ratings are necessary. Not all young minds can handle GTA games appropriately. To be honest, you sound like the kinda kid that would be affected by it. Oh and in Australia, we only have M15+ as the maximum rating for games. Vegetarian Piranha
well at the moment we dont have a R18 rating for games, its still a work in progress and can take up to 2 years to finalise. so the highest rating we'll get in australia is an MA-15+, if GTA V is released as an R18 title, it will most likely be illegal here but then R* would have to make/re-edit GTA V to a suitable level for the australian classification board. This content is strong in impact. Many retailers have a policy of not selling games with this rating to people under 17, at least without parental approval." what the f*ck it's an parental approval? mubd
I'll assume you're saying 'what the f*ck is a parental approval?' Parental approval means that you have to go into the store with your parents to purchase it so the people at the store know that they aren't selling the game to a person under 17, which is usually to keep a sh*tstorm from brewing in the local papers about parents finding out their kid has bought a 'murder simulator' at [X] store without their knowledge. I was 14 when GTA IV came out (in Australia) and I had to bring my dad along so I could buy the game, because MA15+ titles are legally restricted from being sold to people under 15 without a parent or guardian. dirtycopVCPD
NESRB = nazi entertainment software ruining board Yes, lets compare people who rate video games to people who murdered millions of people and threw their bodies into ovens, that's mature. Quite frankly if you're underage and your parents won't let you play M-Rated games, then the ESRB is doing its job IMHO. Now what, if anything, this has to do with GTA V is the big question. Knife
I don't see why it matters really, just send the adult to the checkout to pay and go wait outside or something. This isn't very GTA related and I'm afraid as you can see from the responses so far, it's not going to be a very good discussion so I'm locking.
