brs320
This seems like a topic nobody's touched on yet, and it popped into my head. In GTA IV, the pedestrian/ car density seemed pretty barren for a NYC atmosphere (Yea, I know they probably did that to allow quicker travel/ reduce lag or something, but it always kind of bothered me) I've never been to LA, but I'm pretty sure they have some worse traffic than here in NYC. How do you think this will play out in GTA V? Will we continue to have fairly empty roads/sidewalks in the city, or will we see some increased traffic? Looking at the trailer, some parts seemed to have a fair amount of people, but it may just be for theatrical purposes. Obviously in the wooded areas, we would see lee people, but in the city, I think we should have a bit more traffic, to keep things lively/ interesting. Thoughts? (Sorry if this seemed kind of scatter brained, gimme a break, it's 1 AM here haha)
Jeeebuuus
I know they would like to make it as real as can be. But hardware limitations do limit what is possible. We are not there yet as to what is allowed. 2013 will give you a taste of what is possible.
ArienMC
I agree. Time Square was always dead in the game, barley anyone walking around, not a lot of cars, etc. They need to fix that.
DXfan01
LA freeways have some of the worst traffic in the world
sonnyBlack
To be honest I thought IV was just fine. I know it's way more packed in NYC, but in a game like GTA that'd make joyriding a nightmare. So for gameplay purposes, I'd be fine if they kept the density close to how IV was. However that doesn't mean I'd be against having an option in the menu to control vehicle/ped density, since I wouldn't mind on occasion to amp things up a bit when I feel like it. Sometimes I get in the mood to create big explosions and having loads of cars on the street would help, but I wouldn't want the streets to be so full of cars all the time. I'd like it, if there were a setting you could change.. like a slider
x kgSully x
It would be cool if GTAV had more traffic in the cities on highways, and less on the country roads, and differences in traffic at night?
ewankirky
Depending on the time of day, i.e. Rush hour could be packed roads/freeway for a couple of hours. Using the in game time, between 12am - 8am: very quiet 8am - 10am: very busy 10am - 4pm: normal 4 pm - 6pm: very busy 6pm - 10pm: normal 10pm - 8am: quiet. This would give another think to think about when tackle a driving mission, i.e. time of day to do it. Police getting caught up in busy traffic / nice quiet road where the police can chase you for hours.
Civkiller
I've never been to NYC but I know that at times you're not even able to walk cause of how many people there are, but besides right downtown in GTA IV I was content with the amount of traffic/pedestrians in a few small areas and other areas not so much. Just a slight adjustment with the amount is needed pending on the proper locations for where there should be an extensive amount of vehicles and people however, like some of you said that hardware limitations is what is preventing this. Hell at least GTA IV was the most advanced form of a living city for consoles compared to the majority of games out there.
jdbug28
Id like a vehicle density slider (mine would be maxed out btw) you would have to drive slowly in the city to squeese past cars while the police are after you. However on the freeway it should have lots and lots of vehicles, more than IV but more spaced out. I hated it in IV when i came across 4 cars tailgating each other. When the front car went EX T R E A M L Y SLOWLY the cars stopped and each of them crashed into each other like a wave and it just looked stupid when the driver got out and instead of looking at the damage he/she went for a stroll down lane 2 (there should be a lane 3) Sorry for going a bit off topic
MilezDawg
I thought IV had a godd bit of NPC's in the Times Square area. I always jumped in a NOOSE Van and just drove up and down the sidewalks. Fun times
Closson
i thought this screen from the trailer was pretty convincing that the freeways will be improved: more than two lanes and the freeway going over looks beautiful!
Carbine23
well probably not a lot during night because i've been to L.A. before and it's dead at night except for the clubs probably. It's no NY but nighttime should be interesting in GTA V
