My point is this If rockstar gave the mag's a little not alot a LITTLE taste of what gta v will be like wouldn't that sell a ton more magazines ? sure like i just said people could just come online and find out but i think if the mag's had legit info id buy one and i NEVER buy mag's period So my point is this Couldn't rockstar do them a favor and later down the line they'd do rockstar a huge favor ? by claiming one of their lesser known games is better than life it's self ? i'm talking about a future rockstar game that's not as well known as their high profile game's and getting it a really great review ???? Maybe thats sneaky but it's what i would do. To be clear im not suggesting rockstar makes a crap game on purpose and use's the mag's to sell the sh*t because that hurts everyone in the long run. Yeah but if it comes out that rockstar pays for good reviews imagine how bad that'll look ? However, the best approach is securing your own slant, whether in-house, or given an exclusive, or something the other sources lack. I think Rockstar has allowed this over the years, offering interviews and stories off the Nets. (that is anyone not using Internet, they need info updates as well) There are those people As to the silly notion of paid reviews, that's pretty much BS since no one would have to pay me to RAVE about GTA gaming, I do it all for free!! I know this is not directed at me but, Far Cry 2 was a mans game. It had its flaws but its strenghts were its presentation. If you have the time then I would suggest it. I remember that back in the days of San Andreas, R* had a great relationship with many magazines. I remember we were all sharing scans by PM and that sh*t, looks like these days magazines turned up the bullsh*t meter, losing all the credibility. As far as Far Cry 2 goes, I thought it was a okay game. I mean, I tried to play it and enjoy it, and I saw some good features here and there, couldn't get myself to get to the end because of many design flaws, but it had some good points. So it was a flawed game with good potential, but by the end of the day it turned unplayable after some time (specially after you unlock the second map) But I was amazed to see that the game have a 8.5 score on Metacritic, with IGN giving it 8.9 and many other well known review sites giving really good scores. I still think it's pretty weird. I mean, it could be "me", but if you look at the user reviews you'll see that there is a giant gap between the press and the users on this game. So, in short. I'm not dissing the game, but if you watch the reviews, they barely touch any of the big flaws of the game. And we all know how these review sites are, anything they can bitch about it they will. Only after a little while would gaming websites get their previews, most of the time with some exclusive new screens and info too. It looks like this time they will really give info in small drops. Rockstar doesn't give information for magazines, they rather invite gaming sources for a demonstration from the game, and then they specify a date on which these sources can publish their previews about it. It has been their habit for a very long time, from the time I started following GTA SA news. When that time comes, GTA V will take the full cover of each magazine, not an undeserved mention at the corner or at the bottom. I get why, since everything is available instantly on the internet. But magazines are not the internet. Since the last issues of these magazines, GTAV was announced and a trailer was released. When a generally-newsworthy event happens: - The internet reports on it at the soonest possible moment, which is "immediately", essentially. - Television news reports on it at the soonest possible moment, which is whenever their next scheduled news spot comes up (except for rare important events). - Newspapers report on it at the soonest possible moment, which is usually the next day. - And monthly magazines report on it at the soonest possible moment, which is, at best, in the next issue. A GTAV announcement and trailer is a big deal to the readers of these magazines. And the magazine's job is to present that news in a way that fully informs a reader who has no other source. They aren't going to not report on it because "everyone's seen the trailer by now anyway". Probably none of these magazines have anything that would be news to us here.
