Drinking and driving

Yep. Twice when I was 17, tippy toeing 3miles home. 3rd time I rallied a mates Mk2 golf from a nightclub back to a house party. Thought I was Mr vettel. Totally ass hole move! Hit a scooby in a roundabout, done a runner. Week later police at the house. End result - court. Banned, again.

Lucky I wasn't caught drunk, glad I sh*t it and ran. One of the lowest moments of my life tho, that following week was torture. Learnt a lesson. 7 years ago and I still regret it, feel sick thinking of my actions, even with the end result being not to bad for either party involved.

In my defense, I got spiked with what I suspect speed or base, hence the oversized balls. Don't usually do stupid things like that.

Digging deep. It's not just an expression that's thrown around the locker room at halftime. It's a way of life. A daily code that drives a champions existence. It's not always glamorous. It's not always blue skies and sunny days, and its certainly not always welcome. But love it or hate it, to become a true champion take pure, unrestricted commitment.

So what would happen if say, you went over to a friend's house, and it turns out there is some kind of occasion and he wants you to have some drinks. So you're fairly a little bit more intoxicated than you should be while driving and he says he's gotta go to bed, and you gotta leave... What do you do?

Personally, in my area, you could travel about 12 miles and see about three or four other cars. So I drove home anyway... Still constantly thought, "Maybe I should pull over," and to this day am way more careful about it, but at the same time I think that when you really consider the impaired states some people drive in, there's really a "level" at which it's not that big a deal.

I mean, I know it's bad to say that, beacuse it shouldn't be tolerated, the risks are immense, etc... However the truth of the matter is that it's got that effect where people find out, "Hey, I can drive fairly well drunk, they're lying bastards," and then think it's okay to do. I was lucky I didn't get into an accident or something... Anything could have happened, a deer running across the road, a tire popping, etc. Plus, once your judgment is impaired it's already too late... Some would argue I should have pulled over and slept in a ditch or something.

Either way I think that sometimes the stern "don't do it" kind of nature of it makes it black and white and causes some people to ignore the dangers of it. I don't really think it's that risky to say, "Well, driving a little tipsy isn't that dangerous," but it would just encourage it to be a habit to say it that way.

To me, it's about the equivalent of waving a gun around carelessly. You could seriously hurt someone, and people aren't careful enough about it, but at the end of the day the actual rate in which people get hurt from this kind of stuff is lower than what it's made to seem, so that's what allows people to leave their guards down.

Anyway, I'm certainly not going to take the "it's not a big deal" position of it, but I do think some people are a little naive about how dangerous it really is, and someday they will probably wind up coming to a situation where they will get behind a wheel when they shouldn't have. So I do agree with the idea that it is somewhat of a, "You have probably done this at some point" thing

But, to all the "goody two-shoes" (just kidding guys, it's good to be responsible) that are super careful about it, have you ever driven sleep deprived? Some studies say it's just as bad if not worse than driving over the legal limit.

QUOTE (K^2) ...not only is it legal for you to go around with a concealed penis, it requires absolutely no registration!

Have driven whilst drunk and under all manner of drugs quite a number of times. Although I at least try to sober up to the point of being able to walk straight first. My legal BAC is .04 and I'm probably beyond that the majority of the time.

Yeah lol, just putting it into a todays context buddy. Saying I thought I was Mr Schumacher just didn't seem right considering his recent seasons.

Drunk driving's on my list of irresponsible - obviously, I don't mean that you should wait for six hours after drinking a beer to drive, but y'know. Everyone should have enough self-discipline to not drive, even though booze weakens your capability to make decisions et cetera, et cetera.

I understand that it can be a humane mistake at times, but most of the time... No, just no.

Same goes for weed, too.

I drive while buzzed way, way too often. That said, I know my limits. If I were ever too tipsy to feel comfortable driving, I wouldn't. It's finding that line for yourself that people have a real problem with.

I don't have any tickets on my record, however I was pulled over once after having 4 beers with a friend about 3 miles from home for going 45mph in a 35mph zone. I was very honest and straightforward with the officer and ended up taking a field sobriety test. I passed all the tests she gave me, then the last thing to pass was a breathalizer (sp?). I blew a .06 so the officer said she wouldn't give me a ticket but because I was above a .04 she wouldn't let me drive home. Apparently anything above a .04 is technically impaired.

I could never do that. Driving normally requires a great deal of concentration and I couldn't even think how it's possible when your out of your mind.
