Why was this left out of the game?

Why was the ability to customize your vehicles in GTA IV left out of the game? You could in San Andreas, and I don't know about you all, but I really enjoyed that feature. Another thing left out of GTA IV is the motorcycle cops, where are they? I really miss running them down in my car, now I know there are other people riding around on motorcycles in the game but there is just that lack of feeling, like haha I just killed a motorcycle cop! WOO! And there is still a few more things missing, like oh Idk Airplanes maybe? What the hell is with that? I understand that in GTA IV the city is modeled after New York, but there obviously are no twin towers in the game to run into. Even if there were, would we be able to do anything to them? No, the game designers wouldn't do that they would make them like all other buildings unmovable and indestructible. So I think they should not have left out Airplanes, the least they could have done was given us back the Dodo, or included airplanes no bigger than a Learjet. Obviously giving us an Airplane like a passenger jet as they did in San Andreas would be stupid, so I think they should have put some Aircraft in, just nothing to reenact 9-11 with. Now this they left out of every Grand Theft Auto game, little kids! Do I need to say much more than how fun it would be to run over little kids in this game? Are the cities in the game really entirely populated by nothing but adults? I don't think so, so I ask again where are the little kids? The last and final question, why did they leave out all of the R/C vehicles? Those side missions were so much fun! I wish GTA IV has those in them. If anyone else thinks of anything left out post it here!

Honestly, I believed they left some of these "fun" factors out of IV to give it more of a darker feel, and this is why I feel they will put these things back in V.

Could you really imagine Niko pimping his car? Its not his style.

Anyway, the feature was useless because you'd lose/ destroy your car instantly. That's why my pimped Remmington in SA is locked inside my safehouse because I'm too afraid to take it out. There needs to be a way of saving cars for it work and to repair them easily.

Hell, I loved that feature, too. Rockstar chose another approach to IV, making it more of a successor to GTA3, than SA, starting from scratch again.

This is a thing that very few people seem to grasp, but the reason airplanes were not included, has nothing to do with 9/11. They were left out because the game only has a single airport, kinda defeating the purpose, and the map having a size that would make airplanes difficult to utilize properly. The only game that was ever directly affected by 9/11 was GTA3, in which they changed the look of the police cruisers and fire dept., in honor of the lives lost.

In order for us to establish that you're a complete nut job? No, that'll do it.

Again, with IV, Rockstar took an entirely different approach to the franchise. It's easy to think of it as a successor to San Andreas, but this is a new era of GTA, and the two eras only share very few basic elements. It's more realistic, it's more serious, it's grittier, and having a criminal, thieving and murdering Serbian immigrant fly little toy helicopters around, sport a fancy 'fro or pedal BMX bikes would clash too much with the feel and setting of IV.

Actually, I think pedal bikes would actually fit in pretty well in IV, considering that in the real NY there are heaps of bikes around. Maybe not a BMX bike but a mountain bike or something. Could have worked well.

I actually think car customization would've worked well in GTA IV. The fact Brucie runs his own custom shop and the game inadvertanly teases the player when Brucie talks to Niko about cars and stuff.

I'm getting the feeling it was going to be a feature, but was removed for some reason. While I couldn't imagine Niko driving some Futoi with neons, crappy chrome wheels etc it could've been done so much better and more realistically than SA.

I'm a car nut in real life (Most cars from General Motors get me hard ph34r.gif ), so it was a bit disappointing for me.

Well, whatever Rockstar has done, at least with the initial release of GTA-V, its bound to be amazing. However, I too would like to see the option of alternative weapons loadouts, so you do not have to keep re-arming with different guns and ammo, and that said, the choice of different places to obtain arms - preferably Ammunation. I would also like to see more clothes stores - even the option of mugging somebody (or even holding them as a human shield) and to get their clothes (and clothing which takes punishment when you are shot or injured, so you have to replace clothing), places you can rob, vehicle modding options, the chance to build specialist weapons (have a gun custom-built ... this way you can make a weapon that best represents your style). The chance to get a haircut and shave, the chance to play male or female versions of the same character ... the option of being recruited into the police, a detective agency or the F.I.B. etc. One last thing, Rockstar, give us a camera! Preferably one which has a flash/no flash option and the option to turn headlamps on vehicles on and off - not have them on automatically.

The option of purchasing safehouses, etc seems to have been covered in the advert for the game. I honestly wonder if they have put in the option of renting an apartment, and if so do you have to pay monthly rent - which if not paid, you get warnings, eventually being evicted, and if you have really ticked off the landlord, they send over some guys to beat you up or whack you. These would make the game much more interesting. Breaking and entering other premises or apartments would also be worth if, along with a way of taking said stolen property to a pawn store.

Honestly, the thing I miss most from GTA III is the jumping car cheat. That was awesome for when you just wanted to have some fun.

I think our answer actually relates to us. We wanted to rush GTA4, but R* didn't give in until 4 years after, you see, if R* made this game a year lated I assure you it would have Bikes and Car Customization. Planes, maybe 50-50, the area isn't very appropriate or safe in Regular GTA or Tlad. Anywho, but who cares, maybe I'm wrong, but apparently some of your complaints are gonna be shot by a heavenly golden bullet that god blessed, and that was used to kill Osama bin laden, used by 20 generations of American soldiers who were all working for all the awesome presidents, all used once, and obliterates, all at the time, 20 head of demons when fired from a soda bottle. Yeah, really what I'm saying is that they're going to add planes.

I'd think a modified Super GT or an Infernus that is fitted with a bodykit would look terrible, some people would prefer supercars completely stock, good cars that would find use for modifications are the Sultan, Sentinel, Futo, Uranus or the Blista Compact.

Yes I would agree with you to return car modifications for GTA V, but only the cars that would seem suitable for this option.

Perhaps it was because it was a new engine and they started from scratch.

I hope they include car customization in GTA V, though. sigh.gif
