GTA IV runs like a boss, EFLC... less so.

Hey guys, I've just installed EFLC after having a load of errors with IV and I've noticed my game runs a lot slower. Now, I can run the game fairly decently but when I max my settings with GTA IV, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it ran pretty damn good. I maxed everything except draw distance I believe, which I kept at 50 and was pleased with anyway. EFLC is a whole different story, maxing the settings made it a bit too slow to play. I'm just wondering, why exactly is EFLC slower than IV? And another question; is their a difference in performance for night and day? IV always seemed to run better in First Person mode and in night, which looked awesome.

 

Here's my specs.

Intel Core2 Quad Q8200

2.33 GHz

4GB

NVIDIA GeForce GT 120

 

Now when I run IV the bar turns red and is pretty high but still runs damn good. EFLC's bar is actually lower and more forgiving yet it's slower, why is this?

 

Thanks for any answer, and if you guys have any advice for what I could do with my computer (overclock, get a better gfx) then let me know, I don't really know how to critique it.

Yeah, I've been told it's a pretty sh*tty GFX card, still doesn't do too bad though.

 

After fiddling with the settings I've found out that its the shadows that are killing my game. Even on low it makes the game run like sh*t.

you will need something with more than 32 shader cores to play EFLC (but it can be done), as rockstar toronto bloated the code further. they made harder to draw polygons, i don't know
