VitoJoe
@The Killa: Do you really think Max Payne 3 is worse, or more "generic" than 2? I understand your love for the original, but 2? Vaas. Badass.
The Killa
Of course I do, are you implying MP2 was a bad game or something? I'd actually have to say it's my favorite MP game. The gunplay mechanics were superb and had real flow to them and rewarded players for carefully planning and utilizing bullettime. The story was also well integrated and brilliantly written, continuing the theme that Max is deeply affected by a woman. One thing you should note that Max Payne 3 failed to do. A subtle sense of emotional connection. Obviously, MP3 graphically outdoes MP2 in every way. Though MP2 has aged well in my opinion. It looks good even today. Doublepulse
Wow, anyone remember the game called Urban Reign for the PS2? To me, this game was f*cking superb and very fun. It was very underrated and no one really talks about it that much, if at all. Easily one of the more underrated fighting games for the PS2, right along with The Bouncer. I love you for bringing back so many memories . Both of those games were awesome! I don't remember their scores, but they deserve more attention. GoldenBlade
There are many underrated games. As for overrated games, I give that award to Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Halo. Not saying that they're bad, they're just overrated.
Durden
The PS2 game "The Matrix: Path of Neo" is utterly underrated. The game was a sh*tload of fun and I beat the game at least 10 times, and it's not short either. Anyone that likes boner-inducing melee & gun combat in slow motion would have loved that game, not to mention if you loved the movie(s). To this day, my favourite PS2 game is tied between GTA SA and The Matrix Path of Neo. I seriously think I'd give my left nut, a lung, kidney, and maybe some of my colon just for a remake of the game by Rockstar. Photo realistic graphics, better controls & gameplay mechanics, etc... Oh man I wish R* would make it. Besides the obvious winner (COD), another severely overrated game is Assassins Creed (series). Is an explanation really needed? At this point everyone should understand. Edited March 3, 2013 by gionascm2

I was addicted to that game so badly. The story was AMAAAAAAAAAAZING, i doubt any other game could beat this storywise. Both the game and movies are truly legends. Slow motion physics and gun physics were beautiful too! As a matter of fact, i want Sony to re-release it on PS3 again as a classic or HD version!! I was addicted to that game so badly. The story was AMAAAAAAAAAAZING, i doubt any other game could beat this storywise. Both the game and movies are truly legends. Slow motion physics and gun physics were beautiful too! Yes, the trilogy is my favourite movie franchise of all time, with the first movie being my favourite individual movie of all time. Wonderful story indeed. It even inspired a few hundred people to make a religion out of the movie. Seriously! The game did a fantastic job of piecing the movies together with the missions and cutscenes. I actually felt like I was playing the movies The gameplay was nothing short of addicting. There were a few levels that I must have replayed at least 60 times each because they were so fun. Like the misison where you fight ~100s of Agent Smiths outside, and you can use the metal pole. Loved that! Or the mission where you fight the guy's bodyguards in his mansion with all of those weapons on the walls. Or the rooftop mission with the SWAT. So many good memories. I absolutely hated that level "Distorted Dimensions" though. I got lost so many times in that level, and don't get me started on the ant creatures. And yes, I have been wondering why the hell it isn't on the PSN store!

ZerrickiShadow
Overrated: Call of Duty-I could really just say 'nuff said but I won't. I honestly loved the older Call of Duty games, the first and the second being the best. The third one really did suck in my opinion, but 4 made up for it. Then World at War came out and that was the beginning of the end for that series. It pretty much became a copy and paste series. Any sports game that releases a new game every year- Honestly who buys ever single year's copy? That's just a waste of cash. The way I see it is you should buy whichever one is considered best and not buy another one till next generation or MAJOR updates are in the game. Halo series- Similar to Call of Duty. First one was great, second one was ok, and the rest of the series has been mediocre. Far Cry 3- With cheesy taglines like "Skyrim with guns" and comparisons to Red Dead Redemption I thought this game could either be hit or miss. Now it certainly is a fairly fun game, but gets old half-way through when you pretty much overpower the enemy. The thing about the enemy in this game is they NEVER get any tougher than they were at the start, they still use the same weapons and what not. Mafia II: I feel this game could have been really good but it all feels rushed. The story is mediocre, the gameplay get's repetitive, and it just doesn't live up to the original. Underrated: Mafia: City of Lost Heaven-This game may be dated, but it is still really fun. Sure the weapons and vehicles aren't the best but it is still enjoyable. The story line is also fantastic. Max Payne series- I may have not enjoyed Max Payne 3 all that much but this series is still very good. Probably some of my favorite games of all time. Forty
Underrated: Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix The story itself is pretty standard and the action is run of the mill, but this game features one of the best damage systems in any game to date. Even now 13 or 14 years later, the GHOUL 2 system of body damage is one of the coolest things ever. Each body is layered with skin, muscle, bone, brains, etc, and as you do more damage you literally break their bodies apart. You can slash people up with knives and everything. It's fantastic. If you throw a knife at a guy's neck, he starts gagging and clutching his throat. If you blow off his leg and he's still alive, he'll lay on the ground shooting you. It doesn't look amazing and it's definitely aged, but the game is tons of fun to f*ck around with.
Radoonhagaydoon
Enter the Matrix and Matrix: Path of Neo both should come to PSN as PS2 Classics, imo. I swear Path of Neo disappeared from the game market pretty quick when it first came out.. Enter The Matrix could have been much cooler but after the first level it was just too hard to have fun with. Cheats surprisingly added replayability to Path of Neo, for me at least. It was so much more fun to replay the game again with infinite focus, bullets, all guns at the start, regen health after attacks, deflect bullets. The last cheat (god mode) was just not fun to use, though. More useful for combat practice. Using cheats gave me another few playthroughs. About the game being a button masher, it's not really like that. Sure some attacks require mashes, like the mega fast punches, but you had to have skill and stragedy when fighting different quantities and different types of enemies. More sophisticated than a button masher. Enter the Matrix was hard as f*ck. It was a fun game, though. I got stuck at this part where you had to shoot the tire of an airplane... I could never hit it. I'm off to go e-mail Sony about bringing the Matrix games to the PSN store.

Radoonhagaydoon
You want a button masher? Try DW. A simple game that is very repetitive but somewhat fun in it's own unique way, it's highly overrated tho. Also about Enter the Matrix, I never beat the game since it's bugged as f*ck... on some levels. I only tried Path of Neo once, I'll love to try it again! Secura
It's sad that I have to say this but Okami is severely underrated, it's one of the best PlayStation 2 games ever made and it needs to be recognised for its' achievements in game design. Seriously how many games let you paint the day and night sky. That right there is what makes the game amazing and it's incredibly sad to see just how little it sold when it entered the market. A rather overrated game in my opinion is Grand Theft Auto: SanAndreas, yeah it's a great game but it's not anywhere near as good as it's cracked up to be by so very man people. Maybe it's something that I just don't get, but I prefer my Grand Theft Auto to have a world that I become attached to and I just wasn't in that game. It was a game built on experimenting with the gameworld, after that though it just became a rather boring experience. Maybe it's age but I just don't find the "Oh my God look awesome this is, CJ's got no trousers on and is running around half naked with a purple afro and a dildo for a weapon" as enjoyable as I did when I was twelve. Shiggys
I suppose Skyrim being overrated has already been posted, so I'll just go with my next choice. . . Assassin's Creed. As for underrated? Durden
2 great underrated games that are actually worth a buy considering their ridiculously low price right now: -Mercenaries 2: World in Flames ---imagine GTA but in military version. Kinda similar to Just Cause. Everything destructable. So. Much. Destruction. LOTS of weapons. LOTS of airstrikes. LOTS of vehicles. Very addicting gameplay. Using cheats makes the game more fun. The bad part is that since Pandemic got shut down, the servers are down which means no online mode. -The Saboteur --- Great story about the nazi times, cool parkour lets you climb anything, lots of weapons, cool melee and stealth combat, special upgradeable perks. Also, possibly the hardest platinum of all ps3 games. The bad part is the blood, it looks so, so, soo unrealistic.

I have played the first, that's why I was super excited for Mercs 2 and followed the game similar to how I'm following GTAV (to a much lesser scale, mind you). I spent hours upon hours playing the first Mercs, just going around the map capturing HVTs and blowing up designated targets. Also just randomly destroying enemy bases and hijacking vehicles. I beat the entire game about 4 times. I still don't get why people didn't like Mercs 2, though. The only visible downside was the glitches, but I don't think that really hindered the game so much. Or is there another reason I'm missing? Because I haven't played Mercs in ages.
