Algonquin Assassin
Just to bring this up I can't believe I didn't mention it, but I think Scarface: The World Is Yours is pretty underrated. It's a shame it was last gen because I think it would've been even more amazing on 360 and PS3. IMO it has a better economical system than the GTA games. Atleast it puts money to good use. Such an awesome game, but I feel it would've been more favourable as a current gen title. There's also the whole movie/video game adaption turnoff most people have when a video game is turned into a movie and vice versa. I think this shows it can be done right with some vision behind it. na89340qv0n34b09q340
Overrated Call of Duty (Especially Black Ops and 4) - I usually like to defend Call of Duty, and it's a good game, but for all the hype it gets among kids it isn't as good as people might think. Pokemon - It's great to go back and play a nostalgic game, but I think nostalgia carries Pokemon too far. Once again, it's a great game on its own, but it's not as fun to play as you get older and for all the hype it gets it isn't fun. (Also I was never able to get the online multiplayer to work, but I never have with any DS game.) Fallout - Same as with Pokemon, it's not fun to go back and play after you've explored your way through the whole game. Underrated Freeciv - A free and open source clone of Civ 2. I've seen it mentioned among the Civilization fan-base and the open-source gaming community, but nowhere else. It's probably even better than Civ 2 because you can pretty easily edit the game to your liking. Modern Warfare 3 - It doesn't deserve all the hate it gets, but this happens with whatever was the second most recent Call of Duty. It had the best multiplayer so far anyway. kaisersoza_66
As an overrated game i have to say COD, only beause the formula for the past few games hasnt changed all that much. Its the same offering every year only now, only with a few extra emblems to choose from than before. one or two things have changed, but only to make the series more ridiculous, It started out quite realistic in its beginnings. Then suddenly every cut-scene looked like it was made by Michael Bay .The scenes were just too over the top and too many IMO. How many times can one character survive almost certain death? Everytime a new COD comes out the explosions get that little bit bigger, the villains more psychotic and ruthless, theres always that obligatory f*ck with your senses thing they do now; MW2 no russian, MW3 the american family on vacation and the little girl dies
Algonquin Assassin
Am I one of the only people that doesn't mind COD? I mean yeah the concepts have been getting a bit stale, but IMO that doesn't make them bad games. I really liked WAW and Black Ops. It's not a series I'd rush out to buy every game, but one here and there is fine. It's a shame how it's saturated the market because I don't feel they're that bad. DonkeyEatingCheese
Underrated: Mafia 2: Great story, great characters and good graphics. Sure it wasn't as good as GTA but I still enjoyed it. Red Faction Guerrilla: Seriously f*cking amazing game. Destructible environments, a great sci-fi setting and dunno about the story. Didn't pay much attention to it. I think it was better than most of the games we see these days. Little Fighter 2: A little gem of a game that me and my cousins loved to play. I had never heard of it until I saw a few pics of it. I f*cking loved this game. Definitely recommended. Stubbs the Zombie: I don't think many people have heard of this game. Its so f*cking epic. You play as a zombie that can fart and throw out his intestines at people. I could never find it for the original Xbox so I had to get it on PC. I wish they would make a sequel. That would f*cking rule!! Overrated: CoD FIFA Edited January 13, 2013 by rotipuj
Finn 7 five 11
Modern Warfare 3 - It doesn't deserve all the hate it gets, but this happens with whatever was the second most recent Call of Duty. It had the best multiplayer so far anyway. It sucked because; - Spawns were ruined already and on top of that it had a revenge spawn system, people spawn literally directly on top of you all the time or like 10 metres away, Free for all is impossible if you go on a 3 kill streak because everyone just spawns near you and converges from all directions because the maps are just willy nilly with no lines of sight. I've seen so many clips where people spawn but get killed by a claymore/bouncing straight away or get hit with a grenade the second the spawn, and these things happen in a row. Respawn--> Bouncing betty---> Respawn ---> Grenade ---->Respawn----> Claymore - Deathstreaks...rewards for dying? Really powerful rewards as well, 100% bullsh*t that is, it wrecks it for good players. Final stand gives you extra health and you go down on the ground with your primary still out, and then you come back to life after like 15 seconds. Dead mans hand, a massive explosion if you kill someone on a deathstreak. -Retarded glitches like on the Airport map you can lie down and spray the wall with a gun that has a massive clip and continuously kill people as they spawn over and over and over and over, here is seven moabs in one game using a glitch (that's like 175 kills in a row from one person.) not including the other teammates who had a total of 20 moabs. - killstreaks, Okay so you work hard for your high killstreaks and then you get shot down in one second flat because air support can't even shoot the enemy for 5 seconds after they spawn and launchers are piss easy. - Support streaks....people getting killstreaks even if they die 100 times in between kills which leads to the map being spammed with UAV's of all kinds and stealth bombers and EMP's. -Quickscoping is bullsh*t, you can "quickscope" someone without aiming in, it's called blackscoping, and with practice you can easily do it over and over and over again while rushing. - Shotguns are heaps overpowered considering all the maps are clusterf*cks with no lines of sight. I don't like Black Ops 2 that much, but MW3 is a hunk of junk in comparison and I could list more issues, but I am dead tired.

Outcast
I've been a big fan of the SR series and even championed it to my friends. SRTT was a massive letdown though. I agree, and if we go with the "it's overrated because the fans make it out to be better than it is," people need to remember that not a single positive thing is said about CoD by fans and haters alike for 8-10 months out of the year (January/February-October). And a lot of people seem to begrudgingly play it for some reason. I remember a guy in the Blops 2 thread who did nothing but talk sh*t about the series and how Battlefield is infinitely better and how he'll never buy another one again...then a week before it came out he says "well, I found myself pre-ordering this today..." then the day it was released he's all "this game is actually pretty good, gj Treyarch" or something to that effect. It's only overrated if you feel compelled to buy every damn one. I think you'd get a better opinion of the series if you only owned Black Ops and one of the MW games. I actually think the story was pretty meta when you think of it. As the Saint's gain in power, they soon become shells of their former selves and become more like celebrities, losing focus of their former street gang image and selling out, just like Volatile Games did to the franchise. Its a commentary on the series' progression. Although that's probably giving too much credit.

AceRay
Driver San Fransisco was ace in my opinion.I don't get why people think the story is so bad. Because, you know, the plot of Driver is REALLY important. Its like the main element. Remember the first game's plot? It was amazing. And you can't have a light hearted and fun game, no, you've got to be dark and depressing man! Can't have anything humorous in Driver! Driver SF is awesome. My favourite game of 2011. The Killa
Max Payne 3 is really underrated, and I genuinely mean that with all my heart. People thought it was just another generic, cover based shooter, It wasn't only just that. When game with a specific style of narration and story with elements including Nordic mythology, self-awareness, and edging between comedic parody and hard-hitting noire drama gets changed to "cynical, bitter old man spewing sh*te" then it gets a bit.. y'know - disappointing. Sure MP3's story was still of high quality, but in comparison it just wasn't good enough. But yeah the cover-shooting was a bit of a letdown. One thing I liked about Max Payne 1 and 2 was that you'd bust onto the scene and due to the lack of substantial cover, you'd be forced to act on your toes and fully utilize the bullettime mechanic to your advantage. In Max Payne 3 it was just a bit... "take cover, shoot guys when they pop out of cover.. occasionally do a bullettime dive." I think KOTOR 2 is a bit underrated. The game was a bit of a mess considering bugs, boring graphics, constant framerate drops, etc. Though the story was superb and really stood out, especially for a Star Wars game. The game actually made you question the Jedi order and their intent, and who is truly "good and evil". The light and dark choices were not as binary and obviously represented, and made yourself genuinely question your actions. It's a really good game.
