LCS had snow I think it was at level 8 ambulance mission or police one cant remember, and after that level im sure it just disappeared, which probs been pointed out before but would you want it as a weather variable in gta V? And would u want it to build up if it snowed for long periods or would you want it to or at least expect it just to go when it hits the ground now I wouldnt want it to be stupid and no doubt some people will start suggesting snow balls and snowmen judging by other threads on here lol

if they did snow they would have to have wind too though trees blowing I think gta IV had the occasional bit of litter floating around but never to the extent of thinking it must be windy lol

Well in the mountains, Yes. But I don't think Los Angeles (Los Santos) gets any sort of snow.

Sure, it's something we'd all like. but can we please think about hardware limitations before making such threads, you have to understand that implementing weather changes to such a realistic degree, would be tasking. So tasking that perhaps other more important features will have to be dropped to compensate.

I doubt hardware issues has anything to do with it, more the fact that it doesn't really snow in California.

There are enough mountains with snow in California. Lots of them are higher than 2 500 meter. And the hardware shouldnt be a problem. Think about the snow in Just Cause 2. There have been huge areas with snow and that didn't cause any problem.

I never played JC2, did it actually snow in that game, and collect on the ground? or are the areas with snow pre-determined areas that always have snow? for example the mountainous regions, those always have snow on them - year round, right?

BIG difference between the two things. GTA could implement snow in the sense that there are areas that always have snow and always will - because they were designed like that in production (this is not an issue). Although areas that are always covered in snow is not very likely for an open world game like GTA.

To actually implement seasonal weather climate, in a huge open world - is beyond the realms of today's console hardware, far beyond.

If Your's looking for a GTA were as seasons pass by, snow realistically falls and procedurally collects on the floor, on objects and buildings e.t.c you'll be waiting for some time is all i'm saying.

No, Just Cause 2 doesn't have seasons. It snows, but only in defined areas / on the tops of the mountains. But seasons wouldn't make any sense. Los Angeles has a mediterranean climate, so there is not much snow in the winter if anything.

This is not L.A, is a fictional city called Los Santos, they can put all types of environments.

They may have snow up realy high in the mountans. They did it on Red Dead Redemption. Snow adds more realison to the game on the high mountan tops. The mountan off in the distance in the trailer looked pritty tall so there may be snow ontop of it. However in LS and a majority of the map there wont be any snow.

sure it does... Mexican snow, central and south american snow...

I had hoped that one of the DLCs for IV would have a drastic weather change, but nope. Perhaps V could introduce some crazy weather stuff in a DLC if the story for the DLC took place after the main story, rather than running simultaneously to the mains story.

maybe an earthquake, wild fires in the hills, or a hurricane (but does Cali get many hurricanes?) could be introduced in a DLC.

GTA LCS doesn't have snow. I played level 8 ambulance and police missions and no snow. The only snow in any GTA game was in the mission in Liberty City in GTA San Andreas. Since GTA V is in Los Santos, I doubt there will be snow.

Sure why not, maybe we get a new trailer on Christmas showing the character on top a mountain with snow and saying "Merry Xmas from Rockstar" and then the cam goes away and show how big the landscape is.

Or maybe not...

Snow appears in Liberty City Stories. It's level 8 (?) in the car dealership mini-game.

Someone beat me to it already.

Buffalo Soldier

If they were going to do it - they shouldn't of missed the opportunity, they could of done it with Liberty City and it would of been amazing to see the snow in New York kind of thing.

But now with San Andreas, no chance - and IF Vice City is on the agenda to replicate after 'this era' and San Andreas's remake and V is all over, and we head back to Vice - then I can't see snow appearing in GTA for a long time, which sucks.

There was snow in LCS, but it was only accessible during the Car Salesman missions. It was only for the PSP though (I think; that is the only place I've seen snow in LCS).

Snow would be unrealistic and just wouldn't look right in Southern Cali, a place well known for it's tropical tempeature.

Yes, snow would be great to have. In Mafia II, it added some fun to the driving aswell as making the game look great.

However, if the driving is going to be like in GTA IV, it will be almost impossible to drive with snow in the road. biggrin.gif
