AceRay
I think he's saying that Niko was originally going to be voiced by Sasha in Behind Enemy Lines but didn't. Its also not true, I've never heard about him getting tried out.
BlademanX
Vladimir Mashkov ,very successfull russian actor, was actually invited by rockstar employ for their next big "Frozen" project. But Mashkov turn it down since it was very unclear at the time in what kind of project he got invited. According to mr. hollic for almost a year slavery job, incuding voice acting and animation, he get only 100.000$ pay check. So the queston is could Vladimir Mashkov (behind the enemy lines, mission impossible 4) got more money like ray liotta or would earn the same as hollic. I like how you said only.........Gimme that pay check I can do a good Tony Montana style ridiculous voice. Id take 50 grand or even less. HE should be grateful because then for future project they will invite him back to do the same character or a different character.......... Magic_Al
Mashkov is appearing in Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol but not in a starring role. In the West he is perhaps only slightly more recognizable than a character actor like Ned Luke and would not be able to make salary demands here. Ray Liotta and other "name" actors who have done GTA are a lot more famous. If Mashkov ever was asked to do GTA IV, I'd think his main hardship would be the long time he would have been required to be in New York when he has many projects going on in Russia and elsewhere. I do think Mashkov possibly could have pursued legal action for Niko remaining too similar to his likeness and character from Behind Enemy Lines if he was not paid for this. It's legitimate to say Niko might not exist as he does if Mashkov had never played Sasha.
