Chukkles
I love GTA,it's my favourite gaming series but it seems that as graphics are getting more and more realistic to the point of looking almost life like, they are starting to running out of new features/improvements to add to the next game. Will GTA5 be more of a sidestep when compared to IV in terms of graphics and things to do? I know they will add flyable planes but that was a feature of SA anyway so nothing new. What can they add to this game that we've not seen before? I will break down what the previous (notable) games had: GTA3 - First 3D GTA game. Probably the biggest step forward. Vice City - Motorbikes, helicopters, asset properties. Reasonable improvement. San Andreas - Flyable planes, enormous map, swimming capabilities, loads of minigames. Pretty good step forward. LCS, VCS - Side steps, nothing new. First GTA's on portable consoles. GTA4 - Major improvement in graphics for next gen consoles. New game engine. Nice step forward. GTAV - Well what will the next step be? I see it as more of a polished GTA4/ what IV should have been in terms of graphics. Where can they go after this? Unless there is some new technology on the horizon like actually being in the game (when you wear one of them helmets) I see the rest of the GTA's as sidesteps that are running out of ideas. I am genuinely excited about GTA5 but I expect it to be similar to GTA4 just in a different city and more countryside to explore. Where can they go after this game? How can you see it as a polished GTA IV, when you haven't seen it. R* are still revolutionising gaming in everything they do. Facial scans. Ballistic Damage. Character creation. Storytelling. Why do you doubt them so much? They are the single best games manufacturer out there and so many people are blind to their talents.
Hazelnot
*rant* Dude, relax, I didn't complain, it's just the quality of games in general is decreasing, so obviously the quality of GTA (which is still very high), will decrease too. The 3 game series I don't think will go to hell any time soon are GTA, Fallout and Oddworld.
J-B
It is actually pretty obvious GTA is going to become the next CoD. Just look at the sheer number of games. They even made DLCs. How much do you think R* can continue making good GTA games? They will eventually begin making one GTA per year. It's actually sad when you think about it. GTA is pretty much the peak of gaming. When it will end its reign, I doubt any other game series will be able to rise to the level of what GTA currently is and was. I'm actually thinking "Didn't this actually start a long time ago?". Maybe it did. Maybe we're as mindless as those CoD fans. We just want more GTA... -Num3 out. Your logic is seriously flawed. There are absolutely no signs that GTA will become a yearly release franchise. The fact that you said "They even made DLCs." just confuses me. How is DLC bad in any way ? IV's DLC actually felt worth the money I paid for it. New story , new weapons and new features. Way better than any DLC CoD has released , which is usually just 3 maps for $15. While GTA puts out DLC packs that I must have put in at least 30 hours each messing around with the new features and that's not counting all the time I've spent in free mode. All for only $5 dollars more. Dude, relax, I didn't complain, it's just the quality of games in general is decreasing, so obviously the quality of GTA (which is still very high), will decrease too. The 3 game series I don't think will go to hell any time soon are GTA, Fallout and Oddworld. The logic that other games are getting worse so Rockstar games is going to start setting lower bars is just silly. Rockstar has always shown a desire to make their games increase in quality with each release. If Rockstar or Take2 wanted to money grubbing or lazy , Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3 probably wouldn't exist. Most people probably didn't even know what Red Dead Revolver was and Max Payne was all but forgotten by most gamers this generation. Yet RDR was still released and is arguably one of Rockstar's highest quality games to date. MP3 from the looks of the videos being released looks pretty well made and the animations alone that are in those videos show the effort Rockstar is willing to put into a game that may not sell like a GTA will. I didn't make this response to "rant" at you or be a fanboy. I made it to point that their are not very many facts to support your view. Vegetarian Piranha
i liked the DLC, but i hated paying for another 15 hours of gameplay. when TLAD came out in Australia as DLC it was 1600msp and we only have 1500msp (or 3000 bundle) and at thst time i wasnt willing to pay via credit card. and when TLAD and TBOGT was released in stores (on disc) it was about $50.. i thought it was a total rip considering it took 3-4 days to complete everything at a decent pace, so once i finished it i just took it back. *note, its now about $28)

More so with TBoGT. I finished each of the main mission sequences in about 12 hours each. Only took me about 25 hours to beat IV's story the first time through. If I was only gonna estimate value based on story then I got about the same value out of $40 of DLC as I did out of the $60 game. For me all of the true value of GTA games comes out of just messing around in game world. I remember when I first got Vice City I had the game for like a month before I ever actually finished the story. I have to have hundreds of hours of playtime in free mode of all the episodes. I've never really felt like I've been ripped off by GTA. But I guess it's all down to opinion.
Slamman
A lot of gameplay was in the DLCs, sure it's the same map, not much new added, but it was more then just a buncha new cutscenes!! No one remembers new cars and music?? As for the ideas Rockstar gets from all this... Just you wait!!!

Sometimes you get packs for like 800 msp (Or whatever it is on PSN) that only last a couple of hours if that. TLAD took me about 5 days to complete and TBOGT about a week. I couldn't ask for anything more. Not to mention the multi player part.
GTAknowledge
There will always be things to add. They left out a lot in GTA IV because of limited space. If they stop making GTA, then another company will begin to make a similar game. People want games with a big map to explore, realism and crime. Even if GTA simply changed nothing but the map and story, people will still want the game.
Slamman
I don't think there were ideas left out because of limited space. That doesn't register with how people rated the game boring and too stuck to story. DLC was limited, so they could move on to the other games, and builds, sadly
