Hardcoded - something encoded within the executable application (compiled to it) and inaccessible to normal users

I know what hardcoded means! (Though Rockstar games are not very good hardcoding the right stuf (think original GTA SA v1.00))

what i meant was:

 

- Trains,  it's hardcoded.

 

What to do with trains is hard coded.

There aren't any text based files (or else editable) that hold informationn about trains.

 

It's all embedded within the exe.

Right so I am assuming you can not change how they spawn but is it possible to some how edit the models to bring trains from sa back if not you could at least re skin theme to look more like trains from sa with "Brown Streak Railroad" brand adds inside the train replaced with adds from GTS SA etc

Also if there are no "text based files (orselse editable)" how is this mod created:

I installed GTA IV again and GTA IV SA 2 "World Motion", but i have the same problem.

The editor doesn't open when i press F7 or F8.

I controlled and now i have these 2 files, that i used to miss before i reinstalled GTA IV and the mod.

 

scripthookdotnet.asi

IVSAVideoEditor.net.dll

 

But the editor doesn't seem to open anyway...

Damn, that blows. I'm afraid I don't know what else you can try to get it to work.

I wanted so bad to make a video in IVSA 2 so bad! :'(

(i planned all the scenes ...)

Make sure the following files are in the ROOT:

 

- xlive.dll

- ScriptHook.dll

- ScriptHookDotNet.asi

 

Aside there should be a folder called 'scripts', in it must be:

 

- IVSAVideoEditor.net.dll

 

Use F7 or F8 to start.

 

Btw, you can't use epm planes, when u open the replays, the video editor crashes. EPM planes are: shamal, rustler and skimmer

It's a script working outside RAGE resources.

 

We did retexture them, but maybe the files got lost in beta 2, i don't know

 

We can't convert the sa train beccause u can only have one typ of carriage.

Well still works so why not craete a script "working outside of Rockstars Adavanced gaming Engines resources" (I do not see how this is possible since it is running on RAGE) Also there is no 3rd rail to provide electricty to the clearly electric powered train But anyawy I might be getting carried away you building GTA Sa on Rage not a train simulator biggrin.gif but to add more a Sanadreas feel to the game it would be good if you added the "Brownstreak Railroad" logo to the train and swapped adds.The only major change I can see for the Re skin in the mod is that the writing on the front has changed.

Even the announcement sounds for train arrivals/departures were changed

 

basically, that's done, about scripts i don't know how to make one, so if someone wants to help come to us

The thing is,

 

It's almost impossible to release multiplayer together with the release, so there should be a seperate release for MP, because

 

- Radio script doesn't work on MP, only IV radio will work, and those files are deleted.

- SA hud script doesn't work, meaning you have a black circle in the radar so you wont be able to see your health and armor

- As of now, I use a clean version of 1070 with IVSA's map, MP won;t even start up because to many files have been modded

- R* still has the handling.dat check (and some others), there is no way we can use stock R* handlng.dat with SA cars (not to mention added vehicles; planes)

- No phone in ivsa script.img

 

For these reasons, we can't put SP and MP in one game, so the beta 3 setup must make 2 installs (if player wishes to install mp)

However, this makes things very complicated, also for Flitskikker.

 

That's why i've been thinking to just release a seperate version for a fresh 1070 install (in a rar package). With IVSA map and other files that don;t cause conflicts with MP.

 

For this we should concentrate on one game, and taking the stats in consideration, more then 80% plays this mod on IV, mostly 1070.

 

Support only is useless, someone needs to change the scripts so they have right coordinates, spawns etc.

No use for MP till we got that.

 

 

EDIT:

I have nothing against EFLC, it's been supported since beta 1 anyway. MP is a different story.

I might know how to bypass the handling check. There are a few things Ive done and I have modded handling on MP.

 

So here are some options to consider.

 

1. Rename the Handling.dat.

2. Make the handling.dat the same size as the original.

3. In EFLC rename the DLC handling.dat, and put all the handling lines in there, which leaves the original handling.dat untuched.

 

Even if the file is caught modded, won't you end up on different servers?

But we should make the custom base jumps for TBOGT MP. I have a cool idea that we should do for the Base Jumps.

 

We have them like normal where you jump from buildings. However, we have one that is at CJ's private airport. It teliports you to the plane from the mission stowaway. It's up in the sky just like in the mission. In the mission its placed up high, above the height limit. If we have the plane spawning up there we can jump from it. However the plane has low draw distance so you can't see it from the height limit.

 

For IV there is a parachute script that we can use. It doesn't work as well as TBOGT's parachute, but its better than nothing.

 

What do you guys think about this idea? I think it would be really cool, and a lot of fun.

Maybe you should check your F lock key. If you use SNT and it works, then I don't know what to tell you then. You might be able to save it in video editor and work on the video from the normal game. Also check to see if the script file is there. When I installed IV SA Beta 2 on my laptop, for some reason the vehicles were untouched, and stayed as the stock vehicles. But if you really want, we may get the cell phone enabled in the script, IDK if its ok with the rest of the team but we may be able to send it to you so you can enter the video editor the old fashion way. You really shouldn't gain anything from it that's for beta 3 because the cell phone is in the normal game an MP won't work. Ill have to look into it. Unless you want to wait till Beta 3, because Beta 2 will not look so nice next to beta 3, I can grantee you that.

 

@Blaster: Upload the MP files on the DB. Ill try to get them to run so they will work both SP and MP for GTA IV. EFLC later. EFLC will need a new config.

Sweet! Synching files. 1 hour left it says. /facepalm... It was re-downloading srt.img for some reason.

 

I have the required files now, but it seems I'm unable to give it a try because I have the Steam version of GTA IV.

It f*cking works! (If you use the Steam version, then don't use the LaunchGTAIV.exe file found on the Dropbox. Copy it from your original GTA IV directory instead!)

This conversion got a LOT more potential IMO. I hope to see several lobbies named "GTA IV:SA" etc after you've released it.

 

So far it's working as it should. However, I seem to be the only one testing this atm?

 

Edit: @msvu: Of course it won't work with a cracked version of the game. You're this active on the forums and you haven't even bought the game? Shame on you!

Garju67, not for testing, this way we keep everyone in one game.

I'd love to, but now I keep getting "You must be logged into Rockstar Social Club...". I've tried using the IVSALauncher and LaunchGTAIV.

 

Edit: SOLVED by launching vanilla GTA IV, logging in to Social Club, alt-tabbing, killing the process GTA IV.exe, and then running IV:SA's LaunchGTAIV.exe...

 

We can't play in the same game unless we have the exact same vehicles.img file though. (I'm obviously using the one from the latest beta).

I can make that happen if it's OK with Blaster and Random. Would be more fun if more beta testers signed up though!

 

I tried deathmatch but it got stuck at 'starting game'. I was trying it with a vanilla GTA IV player though. AND with scripts. If it does work, the spawns will be f*cked up and you might die from the fall-damage. biggrin.gif

No, it should work on beta 2 1070

 

Did u use a save ?

Yes. BTW, why did you make it for Beta 2? Do you plan to do an update?

Yes, they made it for beta 2. And I have no doubt it will get updated for beta 3.
