Personally I thought it was fun to look at what R* artists had been upto. Ofcourse a lot of people are of the opinion it was sick.

Anyhow, it was in Los Santos that it first made an appearance... you think it will do it again?

And Do you want it to??

EDIT: For the console owners who have no idea what this is about

Hot Coffee Mod - Wikipedia

The Hot Coffee mod is a normally inaccessible minigame in the 2004 video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, developed by Rockstar North. Public awareness of the existence of the minigame arrived with the release of the Hot Coffee mod, created for the version released in 2005 for Microsoft Windows. This mod enables access to the minigame.

^^^ That.

You know there was a time when you had to ask a mod to add a poll what happened to that system? rolleyes.gif

Well, I doubt pressure is something they are worried about- I mean after the lawyer assasination mission in IV- that was absolute mockery they did.

And about the game banning and sales- the mod came out last time quite some time after the title being released and the publisher had already made a lot of profit by then. Sometimes I feel the mod was an inside job..

Sometimes I feel the mod was an inside job.

With what logic? Do you really think the cost of recalling, modifying and re-releasing San Andreas was less than the profits from whatever people bought San Andreas purely because - after installing a modification - they could access some lame ass minigame? No. Rockstar lost money because of Hot Coffee.

If not this, what other motives would R* have for this 'inside job'?

as I remember it, the Hot Coffee mod was a mini game left in the game coding. It was never meant to be found by the consumer. After this accident was found and they caught all the heat for it, I see no reason why they would leave something like this in any future game they make.

No. Rockstar lost money because of Hot Coffee.

Consider the following:

San Andreas for PC released June 7, it was heavily overpriced at the time of lauch and heavily pre-ordered.

On August 24, 2005, Rockstar announced a mandatory recall for all games still owned by the general public.[citation needed] Consumers who had already purchased the game were allowed to keep it in certain areas, but with the patch installed, although players cannot be forced to return (or destroy) existing copies. Given the higher value of the "uncensored" versions, it is doubtful that many gamers will return their copies voluntarily. However, those who were over 18 (or 21 depending on region) have grandfathered these copies of the game to their collection.

The Recall wasn't there in all countries!! I had bought a copy of the game from my local retailer here after the recall and it was still uncensored.

Games make about 60% profits within 1 week of release, so technically R* already covered the costs of two sets of disks when selling the game. Not to mention the publicity which caused many people to go and get the PC version in places where it wasn't recalled.

Yeah true, it might have caused them a dip in profit but I won't say "they lost money"

By what I know the game is rated +21 or +18, parents have to take responsability not R*, this piss me off, but, i dont think its going to happen.

As opposed to just getting a hooker and looking inside of the car for the same effect?

uhh, it was slightly more explicit than that... it was a minigame.. ie. interactive

I doubt it. They made fun of it in IV, and TLAD showed a man's penis, albeit it poorly animated. Red Dead Redemption had a flash of breast but V? I don't think we'll see it. We may see a flash of nudity, or maybe - again like RDR - semi-censored sex. Don't expect much more.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

Wasn't the recall only for some stores in the US like Wallmart or what ever its called?

SA came out in my country with an 18+ rating and never had any recalls.

Kinda funny when big time stores try to pretend to have morals when they sell weapons right next to the cereal. mercie_blink.gif

Well, in the beta for GTA IV Alex did send a picture of her vagina to Niko. But R* was afraid of *cough* lawsuit *cough* and that's my answer.

Christ the sooner parents stop getting a hissy fit just because little Jimmy accessed some virtual tits in a video game that is clearly intended for an age older than little Jimmy the better we'll do.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar did leave something in, Rockstar thrive on bad publicity it drives sales, and banning or recalling games just makes the game more desireable. Whoever got offended about hot coffee needs to take a look at the age rating of the game, 18 in the UK.

It's pretty strange that movies can have extremely explicit sex scenes, tits, frontal nudity all that stuff but games can't

Odd..

It'll never happen. Although it amuses me that a lot of you don't even know what it is, much less that it was created by someone from here... moto_whistle.gif

Em, you don't get much more interactive with somebody than hiring a hooker lol Unless you skin somebody alive and wear their skin as a suit!

How about choosing positions and having to fill up a Pleasure Meter? In graphic detail with special animations? sly.gif

Seriously, Google it.

What people don't realise is that yes, R* did take a lot of flack for the hot coffee sh*t, but remember they still went ahead and released TLAD, which contained full frontal male nudity. I honestly don't think R* really gives a f*ck about keeping politicians and mothers happy. At the end of the day, if parents don't want their children playing an 18 rated game, then they shouldn't be buying it for them. Simple.

I think some programmers coded the minigame during the development of GTA:SA as a bit of a laugh. But left it disabled and inaccessible in the final published version of the game. I'm not sure they actually intended it to be found, because there's all sorts of bits and pieces in there that are left over when things are cut from the game. In other words, orphaned content isn't necessarily tidied up.

The issue with it was not just about the graphic nature of the latent content. It was also about the fact that it was content that had not been declared by Rockstar and reviewed by various countries' certification bodies. It was as much a violation of trust as anything else. So there were multiple levels of politics involved.

So I would very much think that there will have been an internal crackdown within Rockstar to ensure that ANY latent content gets tidied up before release, no matter what it's nature might be.

What I don't get is why parents complain if they're children see it when it says it is rated M.

I think if a parent sued R*, R* would sue the parent for buying their products for a minor.

I think since Jack Thompson is out of the picture they have the room to show a bit more skin and stuff.

look at how many video games now days have more nudity in it? L.A. Noire sure had it so i don't see why GTA should be any different.

Seriously this isn't a game for kids, so why all this? Sensible mature people? Then don't play the game and buy a Wii.

You can kill people, run over pedestrians, get a hooker and kill her after to get your money back, in latest GTA DLC's you saw one of the politician "balls", so now "OMG EXPLICIT SEX in a game for adults, run fo your lifes".

Really ... that people should definitely get a life.

Doesn't IV answer your question? They completely stayed away from that... most likely will never return to such a thing.
