Bring the blood bowl demolition derby back!

I know I'm not the only one who misses this right? The ability to hop into an arena and crash up a bunch of stock cars. Blood bowl was fun. And I want it back. A small ringed area that make it only possible in multiplayer if you can find any friends to do it with does not count. I want it as a single player activity and also a multiplayer one having players fill in for bots. Of course, there will be a change. Instead of checkpoints that add more time, have a 2 minute timer that resets to full upon impact with another vehicle. Like how a real derby works, although these ones might take a while with that system. Maybe have a damage meter like in destruction derby or test drive eve of destruction (driven to destruction for UK residents).

 

But mainly I just want it back. Who's with me?

 

Edit: Okay, just so we're clear, I want the demolition derby to be like this.

Yes, it is a real sport. And anyone can enter as long as they have the fee and an old car with all the glass removed.

Honestly as long it's an optional mini game I don't care. I was never really in all the racing and that kind of stuff, I just want to shoot people, drive luxury cars!

I'll answer what I answer in most cases : I don't really care if it's here or not, but if some people really want to have it, then why not, an extra side mission is always welcome as long as it's not boring as hell (like ambulance mission).

I like the idea of a demolition derby returning in Grand Theft Auto V as a side task. The Blood Bowl from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and the Bloodring from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City were quite fun and it would be quite cool for something similar to return. I agree that it would really show of the physics in terms of vehicle damage, which I'd imagine would be rather impressive in Grand Theft Auto V.

 

A two-player head-to-head mode being incorporated with it in Grand Theft Auto V would be pretty cool also, in my opinion.

I am totally with you man. I've been missing this since the old days when there was Destruction Derby 1 & 2 by Psygnosis for PS1.

 

But they should do it different to how it was back in GTA: SA. It was too isolated from the outside world, being in a separate loaded interior universe ("black hell" and so on, if you guys remember), you just felt it every single time you have been there in that dark arena, even if you didn't know about 3D modeling and the separate loaded interior universe, it felt strange.

 

They could put this inside an open arena of Los Santos and somewhere outside of Los Santos near the desert and make it as a Main Event where you actually see people coming to this place like a real audience would do. So that it just doesn't feel like being in a separate loaded 3D model all the time you are there. They could include Missions where you dig up cars for other drivers and get some money out of it. And so on, there is plenty R* could do with it. Remembering the idea of doing real Monster Truck shows in GTA: SA? It was once planned in a german forum as a mod for GTA: SA but dismissed later because of insufficient time. I really would love to crush some Cars in an arena. I don't even remember any game, that really offered that kind of fun in a good made/produced way. They all were just trying but didn't hit the point.

 

So to make it short: I really would like to see Destruction Derby and Monster Truck shows in GTA: V as an optional playable feature. With a nicely made damage model, that doesn't destroy your engine when you got hit by a bullet (ironically meant) somewhere on the rear trunk. Besides of that, the visual appearance of the damage model in GTA: IV was quite good. Since you were able to crush a car nearly into a half and were still able to sit in it, even if it wouldn't want to drive you any further at this point.

I'd like a racing track in the game where you could race AND test drive cars (alone). In GTA SA me and my friend used San Fierro airport as a racing track.

I agree! I actually missed the arena racing in GTA4. I loved them in VC and SA, always made a nice side challenge. To me GTA is about the cars as much as the crime angle, whether its modding, racing or just collecting and figuring out which ones i wanna store in which garage.

 

I would love to see an outside oval circuit in the game with loads of events available, from destruction derbies, to nascar, to indycar, even truck racing. The important thing would be that unlike in previous games, it would be outside, part of the exterior map, and have a huge crowd watching and roaring.

I hope it returns now that you've brought it up. And that man talking about "black hell" and separate loaded interior; I completely agree. It felt distant and tacky...if it return I would love for it to be open and part of the free-roam world.

 

Oh and multiplayer potential on destruction derby/arena based races is phenomenal.

destruction derby online, 20 cars, no weapons, last car working wins... points (XP) given for any damage you inflict to enemy cars, for wrecking cars completely and for getting one of the top positions. (1st, 2nd, 3rd.)

all cars start in a circle facing each other in some arena.

 

maybe some obstacle dirt bike races in the stadium also....

 

id still want ordinary street races though

Totally agree. With the new physics, I think a demo derby would be a hell of a lot more fun than in previous games.

I would never have a problem with it. It would be pretty epic. Although, it would have to be done better than in SA. It was quite frustrating in that game.

The Blood Ring with IV damage physics? That'd be pretty friggen fun. Although I remember the gameplay being kinda irritating, especially when you got sandwiched between a bunch of cars with only a few seconds left to get to the next checkpoint. Made worse if one of those cars happened to be on fire.

 

I think I'd like to see the Hot Ring more though, maybe even on a proper size track, like say, the Auto Club Speedway

Actually, why not be able to choose which one to do at the stadium location? I don't see why not.

The timer would reset to 2 minutes for every hit, just like in a real derby. Yeah, the hotring should return too. Imagine what a RAGE physics stock car pile up would look like.

Ambulance missions aren't too bad, its fun trying to fly through the streets as smoothly and quickly as possible, the derby was alright, 8 track sucked ass though.

I would like to see what they could do with a gravel arena for crash derby, it would be awesome if you clould just drift circles around with the new driving physics.

I don't really know how you could possibly make smashing cars into one another in an arena at high speeds boring.

God I miss this sh*t. The more I think about it the more I loved the mini games of SA. Remember the pizza delivery missions? Or was that VC, either way, more additions are welcome because IV was lacking.
