From today, to the 5th April, may I call my self an Australian too, please ?

Have arrived at the Rialto in Melbourne *yaay*.

Tomorrow we will get the car delivered, and off to Otway Nat'l Park !

Been working on a farm in the Otways for the past 3 months, beautiful area.
You still here mate? You'd have to be a local by now.

Not getting rid of me that soon mate, about to apply for my 2nd year here so you Aussies'll have to bear me a bit longer. Mad though, nearly a year I've been here now, gone so quick. Yeah, I've been stuck on a farm in Gellibrand, just south of Colac for the past few months, nice little area.

Only got a week or 2 left until my regional work is done and I can apply for 2nd year, not sure where to head for next.

We changed our routing...

We will be in Colac from tomorrow on. For 3 nights.

Have arrived in Colac, passing through Gellibrand.

Latter is a very pretty village which cafe we will probably be testing if it is open during the next few days.

Saw our first Galahs, on this trip there. Also noticed the derelict Jaguar in someones forecourt and the parked-up 1970s Chevy Impala driving out of Gellibrand.

Great area of Australia, I think. The forests around here are really impressive !

No. Sorry.

Start and finish of this tour is Melbourne.

We hope to get as far as White Cliffs/Broken Hill.

But first we will visit the Australian Grand Prix from Thursday onwards.

This is not our first trip to OZ. But my first to Victoria.

I have seen Sydney before already in an earlier trip. )))

Seeing all the arid areas of OZ before, it really needs getting used to all the traffic and everything.

))))

Also as an example the parking-lot of the 12 Apostels on the Great Ocean Road was about as big as one in front of a K-Mart...

And it was full, yesterday !

Unbelievable, the ammount of people wanting to see it.

I hope it will be a little less after this long week-end.

But anyhow we are having a great time here !

Finally off to Otway Nat'l Park today.

))))

The Aussie GP I reckon actually has a great atmosphere. Have headed into the city on numerous occasions to watch them and have always preferred the F1's to the national V8 Supercars, our touring car series. The track itself is great, nice and flat and views are largely unobstructed, so you'll be able to get a good glimpse of the cars from all around. A mate of mine is a 17 year-old driving in the Carrera Cup which I believe is on a short while before the actual race, so watch out for D. O'Keeffe, totally did not DNF in race 1. :whistle: sh*ts & gigs aside, you should have a great time there man, there's been talks of shutting the whole thing down for the past few years, Bernie Ecclestone isn't too keen on having a GP here at all, so make the most of it while it's still around!

My views might be biased as a Melbournian, but I really saw nothing special in Sydney the few times I've been up there anyway. I find the people are generally a bit more rude up there, if you want to chill on a nice holiday with laid-back people Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide would be the places you want to hit up. Plus, we have the best live music scene in the whole country and it's dirt f*ckin cheap. :p (free gigs in Brunswick and Collingwood have some hidden gold).

Great Ocean Road is an awesome spot too, have never driven the whole thing but have gone down to Cape Otway and the 12 Apostles, makes for some good driving too if you're cautious but game. I remember seeing the Split Point Lighthouse somewhere around Apollo Bay/Airey's Inlet when I was little which was in the cult classic TV series Round The Twist, has some sick views of Bass Strait if you get to the top of there.

Hope you're having a great time here amigo, when do you head back?

Thanks for the heads-up !

We have been to Cape Otway on our way to Melbourne again.

The 12 Apostels parking-lot was packed again with those chinese tourists, lol.

We are now in Melbourne again for the Grand Prix and having a whale of a time.

Romain Grosjean sat next to us in our hotel restaurant (Pullman on St. Kilda Road)....

Once the weekend is over we will head off to the Murray River Track to go as far as Broken Hill/ White Cliffs and return back to Melbourne around the 6th to fly back home.

I always forget about the Good Friday appeal and then wake up crapping myself when three or so fire engines pull up out the front with their sirens blaring. Every year I go through the same thought process half asleep thinking there must be a bushfire or some sh*t then hearing them get closer and closer until i realise they are out the front and I'm not sure if it's cops or what the f*ck is going on. Then I remember what day it is and they drive around the block for half an hour f*cking around with their sirens making absolutely sure they have woken everyone up.

Besides whoever keeps casting her in sh*tty movies does anyone actually like her? I don't think I've heard anyone say anything positive about her ever. No one saying she's funny or anything, nothing. Both her to shows got cancelled here pretty quick (remember how sh*t "Bogan Pride" was?). Maybe c*nts overseas like her or something

Not my photo but look who was on one of the Sydney Trains this morning

2BL41Oir.jpg

I'm quite surprised that everyone seems to be treating him like an everyday person and isn't trying to huddle around him to seek autographs or to push their views and trying to get him to make a change, according to a few posts on Reddit (yes Reddit) he does ride it occasionally.

Here through he seems to be riding with someone else i think (the person in front of him?) It's not every day where you see the Country's leader / Prime minister / President riding public transport without their private security / Police and shutting half the carriage off.

It's all for publicity. I am pretty sure he has a driver take him to the station initially. It kind of defeats the purpose of taking public transport because that driver would be on the clock anyway.

Malcolm really annoys me. Tony Abbott received criticism for everything he did, endured personal attacks and was the target of pretty extreme 'body shaming' that seethed with irony as I witnessed women who criticised his apparently sexist views, yet mocked his choice of swimming attire.

I am by no means a liberal supporter. At all. It just really pisses me off that the massess will cut ol' Malc a bunch of slack because he is well dressed and a well versed orator.

The damn guy has even decided to don hipster glasses and every photo of him is a photo of him taking a selfie.

Australian politics is ridiculous. I guess you don't get much better elsewhere, but God.

im a tigers man so I'm used to us somehow managing to lose unlosable games but I still don't know how they managed to f*ck that up. Giving away an off the ball free kick right in front of goal in the last few minutes and repeatedly kicking the ball back into pies 50m line - way to go tigers

Wanted to say thanks to you Aussies out there and making my holiday here such a special one.

We have arrived back to Melbourne yesterday from Echuca (such a wonderful place). Been to downtown Melbourne to take my last pictures.

"Of what ?" , you ask.

Well, I forgot to take pictures of the Nylex Clock. We took a Silver Top to Alexandra Avenue for a decent picture today.

))))

It was a "must" being a Paul Kelly fan.

))))

I had the time of my life in Melbourne. Thanks for such a nice place. It is not as bad as you all said.

Unforgettable memories !!!

I should probably really be posting this in the Photography thread in the expression part of the forums but seeing as this is an "Australian" thing and has just celebrated it's 30th anniversary I thought what the heck, why not post em here anyway. The 30th anniversary for what you ask? Good question the Steamfeast which is held in Hunter valley every year for 2 days on a April Weekend, I'll be interested in knowing if any other Forum members attended this (Probably could of met you in the process :p ) I was also going to submit the pictures to the local paper but unfortunately it appeared they weren't taking any pictures from the public (usually they do) I've also got more photos so if anyone is interested in seeing them, let me know and I'll post them over in the proper photography topic.

REFER TO MY ORIGINAL POST TO SEE THE PHOTOS!

I've been going every year since I was a little kid (Yes and now i'm an Adult) and I have enjoyed it every year and this was actually my first year where I also managed to take good quality pictures using a proper camera and not some outdated device with a poor camera.

Yes, I heard them all day Saturday which I didn't mind but Sunday arrives and didn't hear one peep out of the steam trains from my place :(

I've never ridden the old passanger trains but hopefully next year I'll find out the costs and if they are reasonable then i'll do it by all means.

I also saw the old NSWGR Locomotive still in the livery below at the steamfest as I was pulling up but importantly by the time I managed to get my camera out it was gone :( didn't see it again for the rest of the day.

I live near a rail line. Mostly aluminium rubbish Metro Trains and V/Line and the daily kilometre plus long freight train. Steam trains come through only during winter which sucks because the last two years it goes to its destination in Gippsland really early in the morning and back to the city past 9pm. Way after dark because it's winter. Said train:
