avito coleone 8
I hope you come man, it would be cool to have another forumer from god's country. As jay said though the real money in construction in Australia at the moment is in the mines (fly in fly out jobs) or in Western Australia. Melb is also going through a housing boom, and vic's population is just continuing to grow. I guess if I land my job in Vic next year I am going to have to get into AFL/VFL. Dont know the rules or anything but I am sure its easy to pick up. Plus the games just seem like massive boozers.

As jay said though the real money in construction in Australia at the moment is in the mines (fly in fly out jobs) or in Western Australia. The mines are pretty tempting but you can't work there your whole life, I know I couldn't. I'd really like to learn some skills in the workplace other than ending up built like a brick sh*thouse. The airforce looks nice.
Jay 425
Dudez this cricket game is the sh*t. Just saw us avoid the lowest test score ever via an edge for 4.
buzbegone 19
Wow, just saw that. After that performance, shouldn't even be allowed back into Australia. All of this wouldn't be happening if khawaja was in the team
avito coleone 8
I know what you mean, the mines are for working 3-5 years, earning your money, paying off your house/s and car/s, and thats it. There is no way I could be a life miner. I mean the money is good, but the life style is sh*tty. However thats the same as allot of jobs. Guess its a case of different strokes for different folks. Corndawg93 1,137
All this AFL talk is making me yawn, how about we talk NRL, like the 4 Nations or Dezzy's new job at the Doggies and so on...
avito coleone 8
Start it, what do hyou think of our preformance in the test man? Back to the cricket, the players should have donated their wages to charity, that was pathetic
Jay 425
Other than the boutiques do we own any brewry's in australia anymore? Coopers will soon be the largest Australian-owned brewery in the country, iirc.
Finn 7 five 11 930
Also Melbourne is a place where you can wander around on a Saturday night and have a fun time... Or get stabbed haha. Who said they went for Carlton? Nobody goes for carlton, your out on your own, myself, well i am a Richmond Tigers Man, Canberra Brumbies, and Melbourne Storm. Jay, you drink Rech's? Jay 425
Drove home from work last night in the middle of an electrical storm. It was pretty intense when the rain came on. Lovely mid-20s today, but mid-30s at the end of the week which will suck. I can tell it's schoolies this weekend because everyone has been trying to get me to cover their shifts at work. ed: Rechs, na. Edited November 16, 2011 by Jay
Chorup 2
The weather in Melbourne has been weird lately...but then again when isn't it? As a Melbourne resident, you either love it or hate it. Was a shame to see Fosters Group being sold offshore, the true Aussie appeal of VB has all but lost its effect. unopescio 1,460
Adelaide would have to be the most depressing city in the world. I'm guessing you haven't been to Canberra?
Kryten. 21
Oh cool, a topic just for Aussies. @talk about the weather, Friday in Melbourne is supposed to be 33 with a chance of thunderstorms. Something about that has me worried. I'm just glad they've finally fixed the air con at work. Its been like a sauna in there lately, even when it was raining outside. Also, good to see the Gold Coast earning the right to host the 2018 Commonwealth games. Will be good for the area and should sure as heck attract a bunch of tourism.
Jay 425
Sly to say that it'll cost taxpayers 1billion dollars. Even though that's primarily on infrastructure that goes beyond Comm Games use. + it'll generate 2billion for the economy. They forget to mention that. 'They' being the media I've been watching half-heartedly.
avito coleone 8
Off to melb tomorrow and then back home again for CFA interviews, got the early morning fliught and late flight, going to be a massive day. I Heard Obama's speech on the radio to the Australian people, man I understand why americans can get so patriotic. Their politicans have some pretty inspirational speech writers. nightwalker83 7
Australians suck tho, you're just convicts and stuff. Not all states in Australia started as convict settlements! South Australia, where I'm from didn't, not sure about the others.
Ari Gold 1,359
As a Melbourne resident, you either love it or hate it. I, for one, love it. Actually, I only love it between November and March. At other times I'm either depressed (a depression which is exacerbated by watching Richmond lose on a regular basis, but, I'm an optimistic lad so I have hope for the future), or constantly sneezing, neither of which are good. Summers here, though, are a f*cking gem, and remind me as to why I love this f*cking city so much.

Summers here, though, are a f*cking gem, and remind me as to why I love this f*cking city so much. Yeh, I prefer having the unpredictable weather of Melbourne, keeps it more interesting. During the next few months, you may get like 3-4 really hot days then storms for the next few. Lol, you can't expect much when Terry Wallace coached your team, absolute abomination of a coach. Give them a few more years and they'll climb the ladder, hopefully beyond that 9th position. The reason I love this city is because there's so much to do. Mainly there are tonnes of sports to go and watch which all have great support, mostly AFL. The A-league is a joke however, although I'll probably attend my first A-league game at the next Melbourne derby. I like Melbourne Heart, but that may be bred from the amount of hate I have for Victory, despite barely following the league. One of the main reasons the NSL was abandoned by the FFA was because of the ethnic divisions between the teams, yet the Melbourne Victory backing is typically Greek and Serbian from what I've seen, and Croatians and a few Macos prefer Heart...although as a Serb you follow Heart don't you? I don't see the league surviving long-term, but soccer is crap in this country at the moment, especially with Preston being demoted once again. If they introduced Melbourne Heart at the same time as Victory, then it'd be a fierce rivalry by now in Melbourne, but the FFA and Victory are stupid and decide to introduce a team 5 years later where the scales are weighed down beyond belief.
