Garages

I'd advocate a mix of street parking and garages. I'd also suggest apartment parking facilities, i.e. reserved parking slots in the parking lot or an underground parking garage facility. Also have driveway parking. It would all depend entirely on the type of safehouse. That way you'd have a wide variety of realistic parking options.

As for the issues experienced with street parking: street parking in GTA:IV worked best on wide roads where the flow of traffic was away from your parking slot. For instance, in Hove Beach, and Bohan. It worked less well on narrow streets. It worked worst of all in TBOGT, because the map designers hadn't designed that street to accommodate a parking slot in the first place.

In the new Los Santos, this should be less of an issue. Space is at a premium in NYC/LC and so on street parking is more commonplace. In Los Santos there is far more space. More land means there should be less on street parking in the first place. But even if there is, the wider roads should mean far fewer issues with the traffic. One small AI tweak that might be necessary is to stop the NPC cops from commandeering your cars to chase people.

Oh. And the suggestion about borrowing the Saints Row 'magic' garage mechanism. Park once, take many times? No way. Magic has no place in GTA.

Now that we are in Los Santos again, the apartment thing is dead and we can buy homes again ( I hope ) What would you think about bringing back garages for cars? and in the garage you can put air in tires

Garages yes, of course.

Air in tires? What the hell? suicidal.gif

It really boils down to location. Suburban homes, like the ones you saw in the trailer being foreclosed, are perfect for garages. Parking spaces made sense in IV because homes were 98% apartments. The measly 2% single-unit homes were broken up around LC in places like Berchem and Steinway(?).

Yes, please. They need to have a garage system similar to the way Saints Row does it (Now, don't any of you fanboys freak out because I'm saying this. Nothing is wrong with taking a hint from another game). What I mean by that is having a garage that stores all of your cars (maybe Rockstar can put like a limit of 25 cars, or something like that) and they are all there forever until you choose to delete them. I also like that in that game you can take any car from your garage and, even if it gets blown up or wrecked, it'll still be right back at your garage with no damage whatsoever the next time you go back to it. Is that realistic? No, of course not, but it sure is convenient and more fun. The whole "parking spaces" of GTA IV sucked ass, quite frankly.

I think if a vehicle is blown up or wrecked it shouldnt magicly appear back again.

I also think garages performed 2 functions that I missed in gta IV. 1st feature: being able to fix/restore a rare vehicle back to new condition. 2nd Feature: being able to save and collect vehicles in safety.

GTA SA spoiled us with this giving a whole aircraft hanger.

If we will be able to purchase properties in GTA V, I would like to buy a big warehouse. A warehouse that can contain 10, maybe 20 cars at the same time.

Apart from that, I don't want the parking spaces from GTA IV, cars may get damaged by the police or other pedestrians. Garages are a must.

In San Andreas, some houses were simple apartments or just houses that didn't feature garages. Since it's more realistic for every house to have parking, IV's way or III era's way, I'd prefer lots of houses with garages and a few with front-of-the-house parking spaces.

@Krodigy, the Abandoned Air Strip in Verdeant Meadows from San Andreas had a big warehouse that was meant for several planes, but could be used to fit (and save) far over 20 cars.

Garages, drive ways, allocated street space, should all be variations on the same thing: whatever you park there will still be there again if you save. It all depends on the property, and whats appropriate. All R* need to do is make sure allocated street parking can't be affected by flowing traffic, cops or whatever.

I would also like to see usable hangers at airports/airfields to store planes like at verdant fields.

So everyone's happy, why not have a combination of both? lol.gif

Just what I was thinking. You can still fit in quite a few cars in the parking space anyway, as long as part of the vehicle is within the space then it will save. I would like garages as well- if we get more variety in houses then we should get them. The trailer has given us hints of it already.

I want garages because I didn't like parking out side in the front of my apartment. The garages from San Andreas were perfect, although I would like to fit a lot of cars in them. Also, bringing back a garage to customize your cars would be fantastic! smile.gif

IMO VC had some good garage features. Some could fit a sh*t load of cars, like storage rooms. Some were smaller and could fit two cars. Those were detached or built in to houses. What would be nice is a car collection. You buy or steal rare cars, put them into a place, a storage room you bought, a big one...and then youd have a big choice of cars to choose from. It would be something like Jay Leno has, a big storage facilty where he has all his 200 cars. Ofc 200 is too much. But still. A place quite abandoned, full of cars.

Why use this stupid arcade version to choose a car is my question. Why on earth has nobody thought of combining parking and garages! :0 there's an idea. like when you earn enough money you can buy a house with a massive underground garage or something, similar to batman's or the garage the xmen used or if anyone has seen the green hornet movie, a garage like that one that can hold ten cars with enough space to get in and out safely and not have to make a stupid "unblock me" puzzle out of simply getting your car out of your garage.

And the whole your car will save even when it blows up is for children. that ruins the whole aspect of having a nice car because then you can just let it blow up and then go and get it from your garage which takes the specialty out of it. instead of saving the whole car, why should we not be able to save the decals and the tuning or whatever we had done to it, then find another car that is the same and just pay the 50,000 it would take to fix it up the same way. this will also get rid of some of the extra money that we AAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLWWWWWWWWWWWAAYYYYYSSS end up carrying around, with or without cheats.

The whole parking thing fit in nicely with Liberty City but I'd like to see garages back for all our safehouses - hopefully any apartment safehouses will have an underground carpark/garage underneath the actual building of sorts.

Breaking Bohan

Hell yeah they need to bring back large garages. I was upset in IV when you stole a car you could only keep 1 or 2 outside your house. I liked having a garage where I could store a few more.

Bring it back in V.

I am certainly sure there will be a lot of houses to buy. The fact that Rockstar are back in Los Santos, or San Andreas, tells pretty much.

They're aware that people WILL have high expectations about the game. People will automaticly compare it to Los Santos in SA.. where you could buy loads of houses, customize your character.. So I strongly believe Rockstar will go big on this one.
