Parkour

Do you think parkour or free running would work in this game.If they were to make it in there I think they would but the basic of it or just not focus a lot on it.I want to see if people think it would be cool or not.If you say what your choice is explain.

Would it really me necessary and worthwhile in a game that encourages you to drive a lot of the time? You know, Grand Theft Auto.

I think climbing fences/ledges in the same way we can in GTA IV is enough.

If that 40-something year old dude we see in the trailer is the player it'd look kind of strange to see him bouncing between rooftops.

In my opinion, I think that parkour or free-running would be an interesting addition to Grand Theft Auto V. In past Grand Theft Auto games, there have been some missions that you have had to escape from the cops on foot, and if police AI in Grand Theft Auto V is going to be drastically improved - then having the ability to climb buildings and jump across roof-tops would be a good idea to counter that to an extent. It could also come into play when you want to steal a helicopter whilst it is flying in mid-air, too.

Of course, this would have to depend on the protagonist/s. A dude in his 40's is obviously not going to have the physical fitness to leap over roof tops and hoist himself up buildings.

if you wanna run from authority across rooftops, buy Assassins Creed, leave GTA for cars and guns people

I'd want parkour and free run a lot. GTASA and GTA4 had some basics so it would suit in GTAV perfectly.

But it's not a pure driving game.

If you wanna guns, buy Max Payne, leave Grand Theft Auto for cars...

Seriously what's wrong with adding another nice feature? Like I said, it's not driving-only game. The hero moves outside the car and free run is one the ways he can move.

It'd be pretty cool to see some parkour moves. Obviously not like Assassin's Creed level of parkour, but just basic stuff like from GTA IV. The parkour was actually pretty realistic looking and it worked pretty well in that game. The only problem is that Niko wasn't too great of a jumper. So my suggestion is to just take the freerunning from GTA IV, change the animations of it into the new character's own "style", and make him jump just a tiny bit further and then it'd be great.

I just don't think it would fit, this is GTA, running from cops in cars and other means, not Mirror's Edge where you run from cops by jumping around.

Not with that old fart if hes the protag.

Haha. If he's the protagonist I want him jumping off tall buildings and doing backflips as well.

Now, I'm not talking about "fancy" parkour, like backflips and pretty things.

But some practical stuff like sliding over cars, wall-kick to reach higher places, faster jumping recovery and faster climbing would be fun. Many, many, many times I was forced to run from the cops by foot, it would make sense if the character helped a little more.

People who are 40+ are still well capable of pulling themselves up onto buildings.

It would be cool, but IMO it doesn't really look like something these kinds of adults would do. ^ Of course, but I don't see their age group as the main influence, you know?

With that said, I think it has more influence on young adults and teens... *ahembully2ahem*

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. The sliding over cars thing sounds really cool too. I can just imagine how great they could make it look.

I don't like the sound of the idea. Combat within the game needs to be improved, but not to the extent where I find myself freerunning.

Ezio Auditore doesn't seem to have a problem, and he's in his 50s in AC revelation

Parkour will never work in a game like GTA and also i doubt it will work in a game not created 100% for that purpose.

Also it would be pointless since GTA is not about that but about Killing, Stealing and having fun.

It WOULD work. If the protagonist has a free running ability, it'll be more interesting running away from the cops on foot.

Also, the player doesn't have to have all those parkour sh*t from Mirror's Edge, maybe some moves that could make the player get through objects/obstacles faster.

I don't care if we have all this fancy free running stuff, but I would love if I could keep my momentum going as I hop a railing, or a fence, or a ledge. Sort of like Battlefield 3, where if you are running towards an obstacle and press jump, you will vault over it and continue to sprint.

Well, i think it wont work, just look at mirrors edge it was a fun little game but people hated it for the most part.

A game like GTA with Parkour would be the same also look at GTA IV imagine Nico or Johnny running like that, it would suck

Parkour is also a in real life a thing over indulgent little kids think is fun wink.gif

I think it's not just me, but has anyone ever grabbed onto something in IV and it wouldn't let you go up? I think this would fix it. If it were included though, it would have to be used as the dude(s) who isn't the older guy.

If they made it flow well, it would be pretty sweet in multiplayer when you often find yourself running for blocks with no car in sight!

I'd just like to see as much climbing elements and freedom when it comes to vertical movement as possible.

That'll definitely revolutionise sandbox again, just like III did.

I like the feature to be add on GTAV and I think will work. The True Crime Hong Kong has a parkour move. And LA Noire has rooftop scene where u can see cole do some basic parkour. I'm not asking for extreme parkour I just want some basic move that's all I want.

With how it's shaping to be the Protagonist, Parkour would not be something worth having in GTAV.

These are the things that ARE useful. No flips or wallride or whatever fancy f*ck parkour enthusiast could do.

Besides, if the multiple character rumors are true, we could have someone more athletic to have these skills, not the old guy lol.
