Trideez
I haven't seen anyone mention this, but there is an article on IGN that said that it is possible that GTA V will be Digital Only. Meaning, NO DISC. I think that is a great idea and would love to see them implement that. R* would no longer be limited by disk space and the cities/states could be HUGE. Here's the article in which the dude makes a great case for it: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/121/1211267p1.html Edited November 6, 2011 by Trideez

RapStyle9
What does that mean? Means that you download the game, instead of putting in a disc Hmmm? Never heard of that. You buy it in stores? Is it avaible then for PS3 and Xbox 360?

nikonatorbelick
well it certainly is a way to end the whole "not enough space on Xbox360 disc" stuff, however it don't think is true, i mean how many AAA tittles have gonne Digital ONLY? none as far as im aware
Trideez
I like to actually own the games I purchase, so that would be a no-go for me. You would actually own it. You would still go to the store and buy it and everything. It's just that what's in the box would be different. The game manual would be in the box, and maybe a nifty peice of artwork that has your code on it.

No packaging/shipping, no disc, etc.

And who better to lead us into that future than Rockstar with GTA V?
abottig
Cut disc production cost and DVD storage issues. Fight piracy and maximize profits? sounds like a long shot. This would not fight piracy. Some 360 pirates could take advantage, and PS3 pirates will surely all be able to take advantage. I don't pirate R* games because they make a product worth more than $60, IMO. R* fights piracy by making amazing games.

leik oh em jeez!
Not everyone has hard drives, and not everyone has their console connected to the internet. Rockstar would never do this. Would idiot told you that?

Or if you just don't have internet access at all. Then you're screwed.

Matty
I would rather buy the disc also, rather then download it. I've said it before, but all Rockstar would have to do to not be so limited to disc space is put the game across several discs - with one or more discs being the install discs (the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 have hard-drives, anyway) and another disc being the "play" disc. I like physically owning games also, rather then them just being virtual data on a hard drive.
Gangsta-NL
I believe it can stop piracy on the consoles but not on the PC: The content that will be loaded on your PC can be manipulated and saved on your HDD, thus allowing it to access it offline. Remember: a game consists of files. The files that has to be loaded, (even temporary) can somehow be saved. This means that you need all the necessary files to run the game offline. Sure, it a hell of a lot of work to do that... But GTA5 is a big game, and pirates will do anything to play it. But see it from the negative side: - What if you have sh*tty internet? Or worse: if you dont have internet? I think it can fit on the Xbox & PS3 with some technical challenges.

Jason Frost
If the game is only digital, I think Rockstar will lose some sales. We are in 2011, but not every console is connected to the internet and many gamers don't know they could do that.
JasperHQ
Wouldnt happen because they would lose alot of sales because some people dont have internet connection.

ccrogers15
actually it was mentioned but its not gonna be digital only. They wont do that. PS3 can use blu ray for it which will hold everything and pc can use multiple install disks. They will lose to much money. I know i wont buy it if its download only, cause i dont have that quick of internet (DSL) and it will take like what... 5 days? Not gonna happen. id rather go buy saints row 3 retail for PC, then mod the logo and call it gta 5 and boom.
