No this could be interesting, say you wanted to conceal a shotgun you would have to dress apropriately e.g wear a trench coat use a sawnoff etc

Well you can customize them now so I dont see why not.

Then again. Its not actually GTA if you cant pull guns out your ass.

What a weird fetish Rockstar has. dontgetit.gif

some people just want some things to be too realistic which can either turn out to be an ingenious idea OR a disastrous backfire. Which in this case, would definitely be a backfire.

There is a point here in that maybe buying certain clothes are necessary to hide bigger weapons. Like a 3/4 length coat to hide a shotgun or M4? Otherwise you have cary them openly which, aside from looking like Rambo, attracts potentially unwanted attention.

This is a really stupid idea.

Why? If all the guns are showing, it'd be pretty unrealistic for the protag to be able to run a decent speed along with carry all that weight, its out of the question.

I see you feel very strongly about the subject, your coming across as abit of a jackass atm

sorry if simply giving my 2 cents is a jackass move but I stand by what i say.

Yea, I like this idea. Ithink it should also weight you down to make you move slower. Maybe have a weight limit thats not unreasonable. Maybe two rifles and a pistol?

Nah, I actually prefer the crazy 'GTA pockets' than something that would be realistic.

I actually think if it was done right, it could add a whole new dimension to the game and a lot more strategy and interesting missions. Here's the setup:

-You are limited to 4/5 total weapons, no more than 2 heavy weapons (RPG, assault riffles, etc), but can carry up to 3 sidearms (knives not included).

-You can save your weapons in your car (trunk feature, but only for cars you actually saved your weapons in -amazing use for garages now), house, etc etc

-Missions now feature "planning" phase where you often will have any idea of what force you will meet and what weapons you want to bring/how you get them there, etc. I think this aspect would make the missions much more complex and fluid. Instead of always having your trusty AKs and crap, you might be stuck in a tough spot with only a glock, etc. It also means planning ahead, improvising, etc. I love this approach.

-Makes buying weapons that much more necessary. In previous games once you had the weapons you liked, you never had to buy new ones or even had to buy much ammo. Making you have to "stash" your weapons and sometimes lose them, you likely would have to buy multiples to keep separate stashes in cars/houses, giving you more ways to spend cash and personalize.

-It means no walking around in public with a machine gun, but that's fine by me, just leave it in the car/trunk or hide it/plant it if you need it for a mission etc.

Sure, it means things change and it could be a pain on occasion, but I think it might add a TON of depth to the game including a lot more interesting missions, planning ahead, etc. I'd be all for it!

I always found it retarded that the character could carry so many weapons. Making it more reasonable would make the game much more enjoyable. I'd love to carry a pistol in a leg strap, a knife in another leg strap, an rifle on my back and a temporary weapon (baseball bat, rpg, shotgun, w/e) in your hands.

I never understood what the fun was in having every weapon on you at all times bored.gif

Imagine the protagonist being that old guy. If you would be wearing your full arsenal imagine how slow he would be.

Maybe they should bring back Claude, put this in the game and call him Claude Slow.

I like where this idea is coming from, being able to see the weapons that you currently have on you - however, I think it should be only assault rifles or other large weapons that should be seen. Pistols and small sub-machine guns should be be concealed when the player doesn't have them selected. Similarly to this, the idea of having one of each weapon type; as was seen in most other past Grand Theft Auto titles - should be tweaked. For example:

  • You can only carry one Assault rifle, shotgun or SMG-type weapon and the weapon you are carrying is visible at all times,
  • You should be only allowed to carry one heavy weapon (chain gun, RPG, M60) at a time however it should be made so you cannot change a weapon whilst carrying a heavy weapon, and the protagonist would automatically drop the heavy weapon that they are carrying when it runs out of ammunition. Of course, the weapon could be dropped at the press of a button on the controller (or keyboard).
  • Since pistols, thrown weapons and Micro-SMG's should be concealable when the player doesn't have them selected, the player should be able to carry as many different weapons in these categories as he wishes; however Micro-SMG's should share the same ammunition, same with similar pistols.
  • Hand-held weapons should be split into two categories. Light hand-held weapons, which include small knives and similar weapons - should all be concealable the ability to carry as many as you want should apply. Heavy hand-held weapons such as the baseball bat, large knives and similar weapons should not be concealable, and only one can be carried at a time.

This wouldn't be a bad idea at all if it is done right.

I don't think you should be shown having an entire arsenal of weapons, just the weapon you've got chosen. Like if I had a pistol, it might be shown on my waist, or maybe not at all, and be underneath my jacket/coat, etc. A rifle, I think should be slung, but shouldn't be holstered like it was in RDR. But then again, I think if they kept to how they have done it, that would be cool.

I like how in Red Dead Redemption you can put your gun away by pushing L1 so you can run faster. In GTA IV you have to switch to your fists.

no i love my magic GTA pockets. you can pull RPGs, M4s, bike helmets out of them... is there anything they can't do? i'd like to invest in some of these pockets.

I think people are forgetting there are things called CHEAT CODES. If you just have to pull out that RPG and twenty assault riffles and go blow up the city, just use a damned cheat code or pull it from your car trunk. Whats wrong with having a bit more involvement/complexity in the game?

To be honest, I've gotten a bit tired of GTA missions. They're all derivative and after 5+ GTAs since III (including expansions/etc), there's very little that's truly new and refreshing. It gets boring being able to always pull out m4s and RPGs to blow through missions. I want V to be more challenging, be smarter, have more varied missions that put you in tough spots, etc. GTA missions have become soo easy it's ridiculous... Hell, 99% of the missions in IV and the DLCs were a breeze, I think I can count the times I had to replay a mission on one hand. I want to be put in tough spots where I have to improvise. I want missions that simply aren't possible to beat unless you use smart tactics, not just walk down a hallway blowing people away with a AA shotgun. Enough just blowing through through target practice mission after mission.

So you are running and jumping around with a rocket, a sniper, an assault rifle, a pistol, a bunch of grenades, SMGs, and a baseball bat?!

LOL, Just lol

Thats one of the things I don't ever want to be realistic. It'd either be a backpack and dufflebag or carrying one weapon at a time.

If they have to carry all of their guns on their backs, where will they carry their 600+ rounds of ammo? Just have belts of bullets being dragged along as they run? And don't forget the cleaning kit for each gun! /sarcasm

This would totally take the fun out of GTA. I say, keep it like it is. If you want to limit yourself to an assault rifle and a pistol then by all means, go for it. But for those who want to be able to carry loads of guns + ammo, let us do so as well smile.gif

I do think this will be carried from Red Dead on over to V. It was a cool little feature and made the game seem a bit more realistic, from my point of view.

Yeah realistic for the year 1911...not for 2012 or whenever V is set

I'd say options... Such as the option to carry a holster for your hand gun and knife but thats it... This isn't cod so lets leave at that! tounge.gif

It worked in RDR, because that was sort, normal back then. Where as in modern times, it's a nice way to grab attention from the police.

LOL, apparently in Kentucky, it's illegal to carry a concealed weapon over 6ft long tounge.gif

No.

Hilarity.

But yeah it wouldn't be realistic. Although you should be able to run super fast no matter how heavy your weapon is.

I have an idea: What if they offer an "hardcore mode" option to the player. In this hardcore mode: You can only conceal your knife, pistol and SMG. And SMG doesn't have its magazine on. During a battle, you pull up your SMG and then the character puts the magazine in (except the P-90 without sound suppressor).

- Other than these, you have to wear something long, such as trench coat to conceal your assault rifle or your sniper rifle. And you can only conceal one of them under your trench coat.

- Even more, you can't even conceal your rocket launcher, and you can only carry 5 of its ammo.

- There are also limitations for the magazines you carry. Such as, you can only carry 5 magazines for your pistol. You can only carry 6 magazines for your assault rifle and for your SMG. If you want to carry 20 magazines for each, you can't carry anything else but one of these weapons. The character also has to wear a vest, like a soldier, to put all these magazines. (Ofcourse these numbers can change, I only told them as an example.)

- There must also be an option to give up the weapon like Counter-Strike. In GTA IV, you have to spend all your ammo to give up a weapon.

IMO, these limitations will make the player think more, make him plan for the missions.
