IMO it would be great if the signal strength varied over the different parts of the map, and in certain remote areas you actually got no signal.

I'll be amazed if cell phones don't play a prominent role in the game again.

I'd really like cheat codes to be separate though, for reasons others have pointed out.

I really hope the cell phone doesn't return, but if it does, I hope it is so the other characters can call you and you don't make any phone calls or answer text messages.

I actually liked the phone, and I'd be happy if it returned. Gave you a place to store all the cheats instead of typing it in on the pad. ;P

The cellphone is the must have of modern culture. If course it would have to be the ubiquitous smart phone. I think we will see the iFruit. Maybe they will satirise the patent wars on radio, TV etc.

The only other communications they way well include are parodies of Facebook and Twitter both from smartphone and computers.

What a question. GTA V is clearly set in modern-day, so of course there will be cell phones. Why would anyone not want cell phones in a modern-day based GTA ? That would be s unrealistic and it would make no sense at all.

The question does not even need asking.

Yes and they should make use of Apps - this is 2011!

Also, the camera needs to have more of a role like in SA.

The cell phones were annoying in BOGT though, because so many sluts kept calling me. It was all fun and games at the start but then I couldn't take it anymore.

Or whenever I tried to spawn a car for a quick getaway in a chase - and ended up going onto my messages and seeing a picture of Luis' 'booty call' lieing half naked... God.

In GTA IV though it was awesome, I think we will always remember GTA 4 for Roman's calls every day;

'Cousin, let's go bowling!' 'Ugh, Not now Roman!' 'Okay Cousin, another time maybe'.

Great man.

I'd be shocked if they DIDN'T have a smart phone as your basic means of communication. Obviously a parody of the iPhone/Blackberry is a must for any modern day american satire. A real cool idea would be if you were allowed to play Gta 1 and 2 on the your smartphone in the game. So technically you'd be getting 3 GTA's in one.

Given the setting, and the time in which this game will take place, of course Cell Phones will make a return. Hopefully Smart Phones. Maybe even a T-Mobile parody called "U-Biatch" or something. I also expect the use of an in-game internet to return.

Yes, but they should make it so the phone doesn't go away when you get shot or jump in water. It's really annoying to use cheats when being shot at by cops in GTA 4....

Yeah, and you should be able to get into a car whilst on the phone as well.

I really hope there will be cell phones in Grand Theft Auto V. Hopefully, there will be more use to it this time.

as part of the in game / online features. wishlist 4 phones.

1. hope the phones have a feature that - when taking photos in game - the player has the ability 2 upload the pic directly online 2 the site of their choice.

2. in game feature where player can call friendlist friends who also own the game & are online.

This would be awesome

Of course but no annoying calls like "Cousin... I think we should get drunk together" just mission contacts should call you and as for friends we call them, they don't call us.

This I agree with.

Also imagine this, you call up a friend and say: "hey wana play golf with me?", friend:"yeah sounds good" you "great be here in 60 mins or your not my friend anymore."

I think the phone calls would fit in just fine into the game...

IF DONE CORRECTLY.

- Have friends call you maybe once every 2 or 3 days, I wouldn't mind this at all...

- Be able to set a time using the d-pad on when you want to meet up and have the time automatically go to your notifications to alert you 2 hours before the event, instead of having being on the other side of the map and having to suicide drive to pick him or her up so they don't get all pissed off.

- Interesting Activities: Cruising around the map, clubbing, strippers club, going out to eat, multiple people hanging out at once (imagine Niko, Badman, and Little Jacob all chilling that'd be hilarious), bar, minigolf, 18-hole golf, basketball... the list goes on, we won't know what to expect but we will work with what we are given icon14.gif .

I voted no. GTA IV killed the idea of a cell phone. GTA San Andreas did a good job, with some bits of humor thrown in, but it's not worth it if there's going to be any chance of the annoyances that we've experienced.

I'd like to actually be able to save pictures....Lots of epic moments in GTA4 i couldnt save pics of. And that made San Andreas epic, the cameras. Along w/ heat seeking missiles and jetpacks.

In GTA:IV, friends did only call every few days. The problem was how many individual friends there were. Between them, the phone calls would add up so the player ends up feeling like they are being pestered all the time.

Rockstar learnt from this. In the subsequent episodes, your friends are a group who behave (for all intents and purposes) like just one friend. So they were much less intrusive.

Rockstar learnt from this also. In the subsequent episodes, your friends give you a two hour window in which to meet them instead of the one hour Nico was given in the vanilla IV game. I like the idea of agreeing a time though; greater flexibility.

However, I do have one criticism of my own about the cellphone system. If a character calls up and you answer the phone, you could be thrown into a mission without warning. This has happened to me on more than one occasion. I just finish an important mission. I need to return to the safehouse to save (I don't like autosave). I get a phone call and ... bam! I'm committed to another mission. If I fail that mission or want to reload for any reason, I now have to re-do the first mission I wasn't able to save.

I understand the cellphone's role in trying to provide a seamless experience, but for me this didn't work. If only there was some kind of telltale indication that answering a particular phone call would result in the start of a new mission. Or add in some intelligence that delays such phone calls until after you have saved if you have autosave turned off.

Full original San Andreas in fullscreen HD accessible via your phone is an awesome idea.

I'm gonna go ahead and call it CONFIRMED! in order to build up such intensely insane fan demand that Rockstar has to include it in order to prevent widespread rioting and a subsequent collapse of western democracy.

cell phones? yes....

maybe introduce facebook on a smart phone, for online and story mode purposes.... as well as ringing people up online, u can instant message them on facebook. using ur phone.

facebook would have to have a GTA humor name though.... something like

GayBook

or

WasteBook

or

RapeBook

or

MyTwitBook (Myspace, Twitter, Facebook combined)

or even a normal name like FacePage

It will be something like Saints Row : The Third. Maybe the iFruit phone biggrin.gif But probably not a big pause like screen. Hopefully you will not lose your mobile screen while being hit or in the water. That was pretty annoying in GTA IV sometimes sad.gif

At 1.43 you can see the touchscreen mobile phone

There are already parodies for iPhone and Twitter in GTA IV

iPhone = iFruit (obvious one)

Twitter = Bleeter (random ped mission in BOGT)

I would definitely like to see the parodies of iPad (iFruit Slab?) and Facebook (Mugbook? as mean as mug shot).
