LBYN
Obviously this shouldn't be too much of a problem, seeing as how RDR had a major gameplay component completely devoted to hunting and killing animals, even to go as far as skinning the animal with a blood effect to hit the screen. In GTAIV, you could run around and shoot pigeons in the beak with a shotgun as a minigame, and there wasn't much of an outcry, to my recollection. So I believe it is safe to assume that if they have a minigame involving hunting, that is less than or equal to the amount of detail that went into RDR's hunting component, we'll be safe from online petitions and angry mother's (side note, the mother's bought the game for the little hellion in the first place and then they cry about the game's content? I think a quick Google search could have helped their decision and not the kid tugging on her pant leg screaming I want the game mommy.)

Rauland
why do people think PETA have more power than they do?? They're just an organization. Like all those mother groups against GTA IV, they didn't get the game banned...

aliaseedful
Did PETA complain about killing animals in Red Dead Redemption? Chances are: No. Because they're fictional animals in a videogame. I'm sure PETA is more concerned about Obama swatting flies and other nonsense. If they did complain, I sure as hell never heard about it. But no, obtaining a hunting license will not make people 'stop complaining.' Also, I don't think you understand how laws work. 1. You can't sue somebody for complaining/protesting. 1st Amendment. 2. Murdering an animal because it happened to wander onto your property is not 'self-defense.' I would not be surprised at all if this scary dog you're threatening is a harmless chihuahua or poodle. Or a stuffed animal that wasn't made in LA. Uhhh, they just leeched onto Pokemon. They have nothing better to do.
The_Regulator
PETA are no worse than any other terrorist group to me with some of the stuff I've heard about them doing, so what even gives them the right to complain about anything period? That's like Bin Laden doing what he did with 9/11, applying for citizenship to America (and somehow getting accepted; don't forget this this hypothetical), and complaining about the devastation it caused. It's stupid. Anyone who is dumb enough to listen to them are either just as bad as they are, or they're misinformed as hell. Actually, I think the first thing I'll do when I get the game is blow up a dog with a Rocket Launcher. Just as a simple "f*ck you" to them... acmilano
They never complained for killing 200 pidgeons and 100 seagulls in GTA IV so i don't think they are complaining for animals in V.
BlademanX
Yeh why dont you KEEP Bringing this up and maybe Google can pick it up at release then you can bring it to PETA ;s attention that you can do this in the videogame! Yes please keep discussing and highlighting this! It really helps Rockstar stay away from controversy. *facepalm*********

018361
There is no need to avoid them. If these dog humpers can't understand that a dog made of pixels doesn't feel pain then maybe we should hunt them instead. They will probably make up excuses like " if your dog sees you kill a dog in the game it will hurt his feelings".
Mason GTA
So whenever you see a dog, cat, pigeon, pig, platypus, turtle etc they will stop what they are doing and try to kill you, madly trying to defeat you?No thanks, just have it like RDR when I can kill animals willy nilly please. That's one of the funniest posts I've read in a while. Brb walking in the woods and a random little turtle madly runs up to me and tries to kill me and I blow it's head off
AceRay
I suggest everyone who doesn't know about PETA watch this video. It will tell you how much they matter. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/vie.../4988-Skin-Game

ForumName
Or how abut no. No one cares about PETA, no one. They are angry at Obama for pardoning a turkey and say we shouldn't do it because it offends turkeys. Look at what those loons said: "It makes light of the mass slaughter of some 46 million gentle, intelligent birds and portrays the United States' president as being in some sort of business partnership with the turkey-killing industry.Turkeys do not need to be 'pardoned'-they are not guilty of anything other than being born into a world of prejudice. They are innocents who should be respected for who they are: good mothers, smart birds, and interesting animals," I hope we can go in the woods and blow up deer with dynamite just to annoy that annoying terrorist group. WhiskeyFoxtrot
PETA can go f*ck themselves. Its a game, end off. I doubt rockstar will be too concerned, RDR didn't get banned because of it, and i wouldnt be worried. Yeah, PETA gets so upset over the killing of animals in a virtual world. They're f*cking stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if PETA cries about an animal killing another animal in nature. It's the circle of life, hopefully over time, PETA fades into distant memory and is no longer around. I can understand where they're coming from, but the stupid sh*t they complain about is just too much.
Kuunkulta
I suggest everyone who doesn't know about PETA watch this video. It will tell you how much they matter. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/vie.../4988-Skin-Game And there's also the even more entertaining Penn & Teller episode about PETA right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inFtOMx8nDU PETA is like scientology, pure crap and everyone should just ignore them to make them go away. I don't like the idea of shooting dogs, cows, horses or whatever, but FFS IT'S JUST A VIDEOGAME! No REAL harm done so who the hell cares?
Guest
Pfft. A much easier way to do it is to have Trevor scream "HE'S COMING RIGHT FOR US" at an innocent deer chilling in the woods. Boom. Dead deer lying on the floor, ready to be skinned and burned infront of its children then dumped onto the freeway. That should sort PETA out. Hendrix89
Just add them and ignore PETA? Or wait for the Release of Far Cry 3 since that has animal hunting in it, which are needed to craft things and see how PETA and Ubisoft react if they do. killahmatic
I'm not going to read every post but i'm sure someone has said this already: PETA would be far more concerned that dogs can be shot than they'd be for hunting, which is legal in real life. and who cares? PETA is a whiny piece of sh*t. they dont truly care, they just want to start sh*t with anyone.

scareface1970
Do you gamers know the Game FarCry2 you can kill there animals such as zebras, wildebeest, gazelle, buffalo, impala, and gemsbok you also can drive them over . Domestic animals such as goats and chickens can be found in tjis game but you can not kill those. And i thought you can do the same in FarCry3. So i have a little faith in R* i think they know a way to putt animals in GTAV. And PETA Should only be busy with the animals in the real world. scareface1970
definitely not something on my wish list. I could care less how they go about doing it. I've just seen people say we won't see animals ingame because of the outcry PETA would make about it, so that's why R* will leave them out. Go the legal route, and they can't say sh*t. Besides, you geeks will say any thread belongs in <insert topic here>.. Let the mods do their job and stop with the member moderating. It's highly disrespectful to others' threads and topic ideas. So on that note, please stop disrespecting me. Obviously if you go through the time to think out a new way to put it in the game, you DO want it in the game. You can kill animals in other games, there's no reason GTA should be any different. It's not disrespectful to point out to users that a proper thread already exists. It's quite a bit more disrespectful to go on and on creating repeat threads every hour or so and create so much work for the moderators. Instead of looking for loopholes to create new topics, users should be looking for the best related topic. This forum is messy enough as it is. @ liek oh em jeez You are still playing the the role of a wannabe moderator ? Look bro, either you become a mod yourself, or just shut the f**k up for real, because you look and sound so stupid each time you do this sh*t. If you are not a mod (which you clearly are not), most people on here simply will not listen to you or take you seriously at all. If you wanna be a mod so bad, go to Ryan or Adriaan and get on your knees and beg them to join the team. Make them a promise to lick and shine their boots forever if you have to. Enough of your nonsense. On topic: I don't think PETA will have any issue with this, it's just a video game, it's only breathing and living creatures that concerns them. In any case, I'm glad to have wildlife in GTA V for the realism factor, but I'm not too bothered about hunting them anyway. Hunting is not something that's very GTA, for a game that's more concerned with crime and making money, I would not be that bothered if it was not included as a feature in the gameplay. Yeah thats true GTAV is all about crime and money. But we get now in GTAV mountains/hills and country side and if you walk on those mountains/hills or country side and you don't see some wild life it would be a little empty. And yes i know we had the hills and country side also in GTA S.A but now we have modern video games where we can do more. BTW: PETA had tryed to do something about killing animals in RedDeadRedemption. But that game is set in a different time where you had to hunt for meat and clothes. So R * could get away with that. 73duster
^^They may have tried to do something, but the real reason they couldn't do anything had nothing to do with the setting of the game. These activists don't have any real authority to stop anything. The best they can do is to cause a stir, which hopefully for them, leads to convincing people to boycott a product. That is the ONLY thing they are capable of doing. Furthermore, none of these people care enough to take a deeper look into what the setting of a game or movie is. They couldn't care less about WHY something they object to is present. The biggest achievement by any activist is to get companies to put labels on their products. GTA is rated MATURE, so it's already dealt with on the highest possible level. There is no law that prevents a film or video game from having any content that is not followed by a specific rating. Movies get the rated R, and video games get the rated M for mature. Basically, as long as there's no child pornography, there's no law being broken.
