Depends - not necessarily if they optimise it better than IV. IV in any case was not as bad as some people made out. Yes, it could have been done better, but my old core2 duo and 8800GT ran it nicely on medium - when I upgraded to an i7 and at GTX 285, boy was it a treat on high settings!

 

LA Noire for the PC out this coming week is going to be an interesting benchmark for what we might expect from V on the platform - assuming it comes at some stage.

I'll be playing the story on PS3 when it first comes out, then once i have completed it I shall buy the PC version and f*ck about on that.I just hope my PC that I use for GTA IV will be able to handle it. I dont actually use a PC to play PC games though, I use an Apple iMac, I have partitioned my hard drive so i can run Windows XP and Lion

GTA seems like a game that should be played on a consol IMO. So it will either be PS3 or Xbox 360.

pc, i love modding the game to make it exactly how I like it, it has extended the amount of time I play GTA4 at least 10 times, i still play it every couple of days now thanks to being able to mod the game.

Need expert advice. I've been 50/50 on buying a PS3 for a particular game, and since V's announcement I thought I'd use it as my deciding factor.

 

What do you guys think are the odds that the PC will get a simultaneous release this time around? 50%? 10% as in it probably not? 80% as in probably? Because if I knew the PC version was to release 6 months later I'd start clearing my room for space and looking for a space for a new TV and PS3.

 

Just as I did with my PS2 and San Andreas back in '04 anyway. :|

It's interesting the PS3 is ahead of the 360 in the poll so far, because the hardware sales race between consoles is currently 57.6 million to 55 million with the 360 in the lead. Also interesting since GTA IV had an edge on the 360, both in how well the RAGE engine performed and in the earlier availability of DLC, and superior sharpness and detail from RAGE on the 360 continued to be evident in Red Dead Redemption. It's also interesting the PC is in the lead considering disappointment in the PC version of GTA IV.

 

However, the gap between the consoles' install base has greatly reduced since 2008. Back then the 360 had a over 2.4-to-1 install advantage, but the 360 version of GTA IV only outsold the PS3 version by 1.8 to one, demonstrating a higher percentage of PS3 owners were interested in it despite apparent material advantages to the 360 version.

 

RAGE is better each game and it's possible any performance gap between consoles is gone in future games, and it's also possible Rockstar is considering a simultaneous PC release as they are doing for Max Payne 3. They could be waiting to announce GTA V's release date until they decide that.

I would go for P.C but i feel its easier on consol and my P.C would'nt run the game anyway. So PS3 for me.

Xbox 360 for me as thats the only console I own at the moment, I never buy these sort of games for my PC as I just cant get along with the controls.

PC if released on all platforms on the same date. Modding + possible higher player count makes PC version so much better.

 

If not then i will see how much of a difference/ any exclusive content the ps3 or 360 has. That will determine which i will get on the console.

PC for me since I don't have a console and don't intend on buying one at present now that they've supposedly reached the end of their life cycle. As for whether my rig will be able to handle it, well that's a different matter altogether. But given that I can play GTA IV at about 25 - 30 FPS on somewhere between low - medium settings, I hope I manage to run this one well enough !!!

when i opened this topic i expected pc to be the last on poll but now i see the most of players who voted will play on pc so why does rockstar delay every gta game for pc? i hope gta v will come same day as consoles this time but i will play it on pc anyway if it doesn't

An interesting poll anyway - PC is right up there. This might be a biased sample as we have a lot of people who are into modding and have high end rigs on this site, but anyway, perhaps R* should take note?

@ajdopajdo - It's not every GTA. GTA and GTA 2 were first released for PC and I believe the PC version of GTA V will most probably be released simultaneously with the consoles as Rockstar will be selling their PC games for $60 starting from Max Payne 3, not to mention that Rockstar Leeds is very interested and great at developing the PC versions of current (L.A. Noire) and future (Max Payne 3 etc.) Rockstar Games.

 

@To those who said it is meant to be played on console and dislike the PC control scheme - You should know that by playing on the PC, you have the choice to either play games with Keyboard + Mouse or Game Controller ( XBOX 360 Official Controller etc.)
