JerseyGoon
Before I get started I just want to let everyone know I'm still very optimistic about GTA V and I don't think it will disappoint but as a true GTA fan I needed a place to express my opinion. I feel like Rockstar made one bad decision that will forever effect the GTA franchise. They should of never started a new era where the old characters don't exist. GTA is a world that we've become quite familiar with and its filled with characters that we've grown to love. We've built strong relationships with these characters over a long period of time. Its apart of what makes you love this franchise. I can't go on acting like Claude, Tommy, CJ and etc never existed. In my opinion the only thing Rockstar needed to do when they took the GTA series to this current generation of consoles(besides the obvious like better graphics and etc) was expand and add on to each city. They should of stretched the old Liberty City out and made it as big and detailed as the current Liberty City. The old Liberty City just has was way too much history. They didn't even have to bring Liberty City right back for GTA IV in my opinion. This is how I feel it should of went... GTA IV - It would of been a good idea to take us somewhere new and unexpected to explore GTA's new graphics and capabilities. Would of been nice if they chose Carcer City as the location for GTA IV. A GTA version of Chicago(Midwest). Think of how much fun we could of had exploring this new metropolis with so much rich criminal history. The main character could of been a member of GTAs version of the outfit. This way we could still have that independent feel like we had with Niko but still feel like we are apart of something like we did with CJ and the Grove Street Families. The character should of been raised in a family where everyone was Mob affiliated and his father(who is a legend and a made man) raised him to be a Mobster. He would of just been released from doing his first major bid and not ratting. We could of took him on a wild journey to become a made man. All kinds of twist and turns could of developed. Maybe his brother couldn't handle "the life" anymore and turned informant. The character could ended up a capo at one point and developed his own crew(his sisters son(nephew) and a couple of other young guys) giving us a sense of power. Our crew would have had to make money for us and we kick up money to his father. We would eventually own businesses (bars, strip clubs, etc) like Tommy in Vice City and laundered money. The possibilities would have been endless in this new world with these new characters and brand new region. And the most important thing is we never would have had to erase GTAs past. All the old characters and cities could still exist. DLC- We still could have had the Lost and the Damned but it would have been a Carcer City(Chicago) version. We still could have had a Ballad of Gay Tony type of DLC as well. Or we could have been a Gang member with high rank(like Larry Hoover Jr.). This would of been the GTA IV mini version of San Andreas. GTA V- Like I said I'm still very optimistic about the next GTA but I was hoping Rockstar was going in a new direction. Rockstar has been the king of recreating a fictional version of Americas underworld. Right now the richest and most dangerous criminals are Mexican Cartels. I was hoping are next main character would be a Mexican Cartel member. This would of been Rockstars chance to create their own version of Scarface and introduce drug dealing in a major way. They could of created a fictional Mexico, sort of like Scarface the game did when they made a fake country where you went to buy cocaine. The character could of been one of the cartel's top hitmen, and because of his ability to speak good English, was hand selected to collect some debts and make new connections in America. This would of been a nice time to reintroduce us to some of the previous cities and characters. The money concept would make a lot of sense seeing that you would be dealing large quantities of cocaine. The possibilities of what you could buy and get into would be endless. The drug dealing would be an endless game within the game so that even when the storyline ends you still have reason to continue playing the game. Little things like dodging the feds and people getting arrested would create a challenge and Rockstar could reward the player who made the most money without getting caught or cheating. Maybe they could add extra cities as DLC where you could go and make even more money. I don't mean to complain but its hard to accept that all our favorite characters are gone. I just cant erase my memory. Its not too late. I think if Rockstar knows that the fans will not react the wrong way if they bring characters back they will. I want to see every character, gang, mob, and city from the GTA universe back at one time. Like I said earlier I'm just expressing my opinion and this is what the GTA forums are for. But I do believe that if we support the concept of combining eras in this thread and on this forum enough for Rockstar to take notice we could get what we want. Does anyone feel the same way? The_Mario_Man
I don't mean to complain but its hard to accept that all our favorite characters are gone. They are? I saw a copy of San Andreas sitting in a bargain bin last weekend. And looking over at my shelf, my copies of III, and Vice City, and San An are all surprisingly still there. So... no. Our favorite characters are right where they always were. Edited November 5, 2011 by The_Mario_Man
Gomack
tl;dr but from what I gathered you're upset about new era and have your nostalgia goggle set to MAXIMUM. Too bad buddy. Out with the old, in with new. It's time for new legends to be born.

I don't post too often so I had a lot to get off my chest but it's a good read for anyone who will take the time out to look at it.
FaTony
http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/couldof.html Of course, I didn't read anything except the thread title. I don't like reading a bunch of grammar errors.
