Trideez
Thanks for PWNING these stupid f*cks Sergio. Of course Grove Street will be in V, it will be a street in Ganton. And of course there will be Families and Ballas, the Crips and Bloods are as iconic to LA as any of those buildings you posted, it simply wouldn't be LA without them. SilentSeas
So it appears we are returning to the same old LS. Will we be seeing familiar faces? I wouldn't say we're returning to the same old LS as R* included a lot of famous LA landmarks in SA as shown in Sergio's posts.
Miamiguy
So it appears we are returning to the same old LS. Will we be seeing familiar faces? Sorry to disappoint you, but all those buildings are in real life too. We are not returing to anything old. This is a new recreation of LA, in SA it was also a recreation of LA. They will recreate, not redo everything. This is NOT old SA.

reform
Thing is, GTA3 LC was nothing like real live LC, which is partly why they wanted to redo it in GTA4. San Andreas Los Santos was very similar to real life LA so they may stick to the basic framework of SA LS, but expand upon it, flesh it out a bit, and so on. I wouldn't be shocked if many of the places and place names return.

TheIntellectualz
This sounds stupid, but will we be seeing some of Los Santos from 2004 like Grove Street, Glen Park and the beaches, so like Los Santos from SA, but with way more stuff around it or a different thing overall. Muscle beach, Venice Beach, Santo Monica, & Vinewood are in the game so I don't see why not
Brawly
I think Ganton will be much larger like Compton this time.
Algonquin Assassin
There may be a few things like how Francis International was in GTA IV and we know Vinewood exists, but I wouldn't go expecting other famous landmarks and such to retain their names. Everything will most certainly be revamped like it was in GTA IV. Also to whoever said Mt Chilliad has been confirmed can you post a link please? Those mountains haven't officially been given a name yet. I actually think it would be boring if they recycled names again to identity certain areas. People this isn't the old LS in HD. In actual fact it probably wont carry over much from the old LS at all. Edited November 6, 2011 by Miamivicecity

They will recreate, not redo everything. This is NOT old SA. Sure, but everything that exists in both games because of existing in Los Angeles will probably have the same parody names (unless they think of better ones). There is not necessarily an neighborhood based on Compton in GTA V, but if there is, it will probably be named Ganton. This is similar to the fictional brand names continuing, as well as the name of the city itself continuing.
MrcTOtheJ
Odds are we will be seeing similar places but different names for the most part, maybe one or two returning names like with IV Francis International Airport had the same name, but was 100%, I still think we'll see maybe Ganton, unless they think of a better name like Al said. But besides that not much. Not to mention Vinewood's 100% confirmed lol.
Matty
It is possible that some of the places that featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas's version of Los Santos will appear in Grand Theft Auto V's version. Like how Francis International Airport appeared in Grand Theft Auto IV, I think that Los Santos International Airport will appear in Grand Theft Auto V also. I think that Downtown Los Santos will re-appear in Grand Theft Auto V also, just a whole lot bigger, Vinewood also (which we already know will feature in Grand Theft Auto V). I said this yesterday I'm pretty sure, but I think that Grove Street will return in some capacity or form, even if it is renamed in Grand Theft Auto V. In conclusion though, anything we see in Grand Theft Auto V will be a whole lot bigger and detailed then how we saw it in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, if they do appear in GTA V - but the overall layout of Los Santos will be a whole lot different in Grand Theft Auto V to that of GTA: San Andreas's rendition. Slamman
I think a hybrid of the SA or LS we've been shown prior, it would be a waste of EVERYONE'S time if all they did was recreate everything, look at the Vinewood billboard in the trailer, do you see the old GTA San An houses and roads? Nada Nope It's isolated on a hill this time, more in keeping with reality. Oil Derricks is another sign of difference within the game
Mainland Marauder
I think, perhaps outside of the "Vinewood" name and certain specific LA landmarks, we'll have an entirely new city that shares only a name and inspiration with the Los Santos of GTA: San Andreas. GTA: SA Los Santos was really about the best they could do with the space constraints of the SA map, but it was very compact for what is supposed to be a massive metropolitan area. GTA IV Liberty was a more geographically correct (keyword is "more," it wasn't perfect) recreation of NYC than GTA III's, by far. That's in line with what I'm expecting here. Maybe they'll just call a random street "Grove Street" that doesn't have much storyline significance. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be." Slamman
I think the same, Just from the trailer, and the one YouTube comparison using old San An features to re-create it, you can clearly see differences that that person had to overcome Here... shady72
Don't know if it's been posted elsewhere on here yet, but this makes a nice comparison: What's the point of this comparison? Like really, SA is a timeless classic, and a great example of the fact that graphics aren't everything. Of course V's gonna be better looking, but that doesn't mean it's gonna be more fun. And yes, I would love to see some parts of the old LS recreated in this game. But I hope they add new areas as well.

I really don't think some people have quite got that CJ, Grove Street etc will not be in GTA V. It has started from scratch like GTA IV.
ToniForelli
In trailer i have seen one part it was new and where shamal was flying the old one i think it will be like III era but rebuilt because it will be set in 2012 maybe
Mainland Marauder
What keeps GTA alive is a few core gameplay elements. The storyline is infinitely replaceable. This is not necessarily to say they're not any good, just that you can have the same game with an entirely different group of characters and setting and it's still GTA. You can have multiple takes on the same timeline but it gets to the point where too much retcon and revisionism to force something to work for another release makes the whole thing incoherent. Let CJ, Tommy, Claude, Lance Vance and crew rest in GTA history. Niko was right. This time, things are different. And even if IV didn't properly demonstrate it all the time, things are better. QFT Let Grove Street go, we need new characters and places, not an HD retread. Los Santos won't be like it was last gen. I don't see why so many people still have trouble understanding that. Perhaps CJ wont be in, but it seems quite likely to me that GS will return, even if only in name. It seems like the kind of thing R* would do as a nod to SA. After all, a lot of the areas from the old Los Santos are returning from the trailer (Santa Maria beach, Vinewood, Red County etc.)
