Do you get bored in this game sometimes?

Well, for me at first when I first played this game, I was like 'This is so cool', then when I finished the storyline AND did 100% on the game, it was like there's nothing else to do besides rampaging on skinny and fat cops and civilians. I have the EFLC and I finished the storyline of both of them. I'm too f*cking lazy to complete them on 100%.

Sure the game was fun for others but, to think of it, it's boring now. Even with the new stuff in EFLC, it's just getting boring.

So please, have a respectful opinion.

I only got to play this game once on the 360,and I have to say you're right. The III era games were still fun, even when you completed the storyline, but the IV and EFLC are pretty much boring after the storyline.Especially IV,where even some of the missions were boring.80% of the missions only had gunfights.

Yeah, I mean, there was some stuff to do after, but to me this was one of the easiest GTA's to beat. I didn't like how every mission was go somewhere and shoot everyone and come back. That get's old. There were some fun ones like blocking off the tunnel and hijakcing the truck, or the mission where you destroy the vans. So there were a couple fun missions. Otherwise it can get boring.

I was addicted to IV like I was the others. I love the graphics and the city, but it needs more side missions like SA had. Truck driving missions were a lot of fun IMO. The map is nice, but it needed a lot more countryside type areas. That's where you find fun stuff to do. Such as riding a bike down a mountian side.

The plot of this game was better than SA and the graphics obviously a lot better, but SA just had so much other stuff to do.

It's natural for the game to eventually become slightly boring after this length of time. It has been out for 3 years now, in which time the gaming industry has progressed a lot. Even the great games cannot entertain us forever.

Truck driving missions were a lot of fun IMO.

Seriously? Your idea of fun is really far from my idea of fun. Just driving around slowly in a truck for hours is far from fun for me. That's what I hated in SA - far too many side jobs that involve just driving around and collecting stuff. From what I've read, that's apparently fun for people, but those jobs are boring for me.

GTA IV is more fun to me, mainly because of rampages. Being skilled is required in order to be able to survive a rampage. Past GTAs I can hop around in the middle of the street with 6 stars and still survive. That's no fun. You can't do that in IV because of the improved AI and tactics, and more balanced arsenal of weapons between the police and me. That is what makes the game fun.

I suppose it was fun because of the sheer vastness and diversity of SA's landscape, especially the countryside. It made me pretty excited to just be able to drive around, get to really see the scope of the map. But yeah, they were a little boring sometimes. Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

I respect your opinion. Because I'm not skilled enough to kill the cops alive.

All of them get boring when you play them long enough IMO. I've said this before, but I don't know what makes GTA IV different after the story compared to the other games. It's not like all the left over side missions you haven't completed just disappear do they?

I can somewhat understand compared to SA and to a lesser VC, but definitely not GTA III. In GTA IV's defense it at least has multi player. Which I played for a few months after I was satisfied with what I had done with single player.

As much as I love the old GTAs I feel they get overrated too much. As a fan for 13 years and having played every single GTA bar London 61 and GTAA in order of release I know very well what each game is like after their story is done and I don't know what makes GTA IV any less boring. Really you're just doing the same things over and over again like you were doing when the story was available in every game anyway.

As spaceeinstein said we all have a different ideas of fun. Sometimes I feel like taking a stroll around LC, or going for a game of pool, going bowling etc. Boring to some people? Of course, but it's fun to me.

Different people have different ideas of fun which is why to some people SA was boring and to others IV is boring. I think they are both fun but I enjoyed driving around the countryside in SA which IV didn't have. As for eluding the police, I don't IV is that much more difficult. The police are still really dumb and I can run up into my apartment and save and magically they're gone. I don't find it any more difficult than previous GTA's. Yeah you can just run into pay 'n spray with 30 cops behind you, but other than that I feel they are pretty much the same.

Just my opinion though, I can't wait for the day cops don't just turn 90 degrees into a building or wall after they drive past you or drive over 30 people just trying to get you.

first off, let me echo Miamivicecity and Spaceeinstein's comments. Real life can get predictable, mundane and down right boring at times, so it should surprise very few that a video game would be any different.

I find myself shooting games of pool in all three episodes more than anything. It would have been nice to play pool and other minigames online with others.

One thing that entertains me is the gang wars in TLAD. some of them are difficult and require tactics. some bikers throw pipe bombs at you, which doesn't happen in other episodes. But the main thing for us to do once we've worn out the stories, side missions, etc., is to patrol LC in free mode online where there's always some punks looking for action.

Well yes and no. When I first got it, naturally I played it constantly. And it is natural to get boring after a while especially when you play it a lot. But of course I kept going back to it. But I realized I played SA more because, as discussed numerous times, there was more to do. Once you get passed IVs great graphics, new engines, and multiplayer, it really doesn't offer much outside of that. I mean it's still a great game and I still play it but once you beat the game 100% there's not much to do. It's fun to cause chaos but even that alone was more in depth in SA in my opinion. I hope Rockstar has listened to fans about the lack of content in IV and steps it up in V. I assume they will so I'm pumped.

How was causing chaos more in depth in SA?

IV was way more better and fun then San Andreas. The random character encounters were awesome in IV, it was the best feature in any GTA icon14.gif

Speaking of which I was playing SA last night and went on rampage in the Rhino before it exploded on a 4 star wanted level. Either it's been a long time since I've used the Rhino in SA, or it's a lot weaker than I remember. The Rhino in VC was well "built like a tank".

I just can't agree with Raptomex that SA had more depth in terms of causing chaos. Shootouts in GTA IV IMO are easily more fun, with the addition of cover.

It's not the same now with the GTA III era GTAs.

multiplayer never gets old for me. Especially if you have some freinds, then you can organise things to do on free mode such as suicide jumping off a building on to a helicopter, then you get slashed miles away its so funny. or you can do a police pursuit, take turns being the getaway driver. Public MP is just random sometimes. on single player i usually take up the role of a public service worker such as a police officer, garbage truck man, ice cream man etc. Probably not quite what rockstar intended lol!

It's so so so dull. I play BOGT now as the 'main GTA game' on Xbox like for rampaging and going online and stuff but even that is boring now.

It's not like Vice City or San Andreas, where you had things to keep you hooked for years - it's just flat, depressing and bland.

I only play VC and SA maybe a couple times a year. In fact the last time I completed VC was in 2003 and SA was early 2005. If I play them now I'll usually start a save and play them for a couple of weeks, but I typically get bored of them.

I love them, but I highly doubt anyone has played them each and every day since they came out.

VC and SA get boring just like any game does as much as fanboys will try to deny it.

Oh no I'm not saying that - I mean I only played Vice City and GTA III recently because I created a new save on them, going to play SA again soon.

But I spent far far longer playing them constantly after the story finished - San Andreas especially for a good 3 years at least. The only reason I stopped was because the PS2 was dead and the current gen consoles had arrived.

Whereas with IV, once it was completed - you spent a few weeks doing 'wacky fun stuff' and then it gets boring and stale, far quicker than VC and SA did.

I think if you finished your first play-through by doing all the chores to get to 100%, then you need to play it again much more capriciously and not even worry about stats or getting busted or wasted. Don't do any of the tricks to avoid negative results like being disliked or losing weapons or money. Don't want to go bowling? Just say no, don't do the accept and cancel trick. Let things happen. It's more fun to just act impulsively as Niko and make decisions because you want to without thinking about what it does in the game.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with the statement "GTA 4 gets boring"... because it doesn't. The thing about these games is that you can diversify almost every aspect of how you play. Have you ever tried to beat the game with the mini map off, or have you ever tried to investigate one of the many myths about LC? You might not have even seen the heart of the statue of happiness yet. There are SO MANY things you can do in this game you just have to take the time to figure out what all is out there to do. So no, I don't think the game gets boring.

VC and SA were fun after the storylines because the main characters actually progressed as people. Even after the storylines were done, it was still fun to freeroam as a VC cocaine kingpin/ San Andreas rap/ganster mogul. After the storyline there was still an empire to build on.

What are you after GTAIVs storyline? Just another thug with literally no goal in life now that you got your revenge. It's completely hollow. TLAD and TBoGT madevit worse by R* making the RETARDED decision to have the Lost Clubhouse+ Bahama Mamas be closed after thevstoryline. Just what the hell were they thinking?? III era games still captivate me, whereas my copy of EFLC sits collecting dust.

Funny how you left out GTA III. LCS and VCS too infact.

I guess VCS falls under VC's and SA's category, but what about GTA III and LCS? In GTA III you didn't progress as a "person".

At the end of GTA III the entire city hates you and it makes doing side missions frustrating. In LCS Toni didn't become a big shot, so what did you do after the story?

GTA IV's story was geared in the same way GTA III and LCS were and the overall goal wasn't to become a boss. Thinking about it, it seems logical. There were 3 games concentrating on the rise to power and another 3 concentrating on gritty revenge.

Something for everyone and that's what makes the series so good. VC and GTA IV are my two favourite GTAs yet they couldn't be more polar opposites if they tried.

If it were up to some people on here every GTA would be a rise to power game which would be like Saints Row. I'm glad GTA IV took a more gritty and serious approach after the previous 2 main console releases were all about wealth and power.

I actually enjoyed playing as a fresh off the boat immigrant looking to try to exercise his demons.

I've been playing for GTA IV for nearly 4 years. In that time I've probably accumulated a minimum of 500 + hours (discounting MP and the Episodes). So I guess you could say I didn't get bored with it.
