swishersweets20031
So far a few websites, IGN, N4G.. have given out info that the new GTA5.. wont be like san andreas with a state wide multi city, but just one big los santos, a added big ass area of vinewood, and then some outer areas like a the mountain and whatever what not crap. to me thats lame.. no san fierro, no las vanturas, no area 51? i'll be even more not likely to buy this game since i guess "the new approach" is realism like part 4.. JoshGTAfreak
I think that's kind of immature. Just because it won't have the other cities, it doesn't mean it won't be big. In fact, I would love to see them create a city that really lives up to Los Angeles. It isn't going to be only Los Santos. They'll be a whole heap of surrounding areas. I have a feeling one of these will be a small-ish city. Don't stress about the map dude. the game will be great. It also looks more arcadey then GTA IV. discretized
Probably more than likely, but I prefer it this way, having one vibe for the place instead of 3 different "vibes"...if anyone knows what I mean lol. And don't whine about the realism. Rockstar aren't as shameless as IW in releasing the same game over and over again.

RamiTR
I personally think LS was the best city in all of San Andreas back in GTA SA. It just had a nice open and sunny mood to it. This game will be perfect for me. Oh and if they decided to add LV and SF to the GTA V map, you can say hello to 2 more years of waiting for a GTA. But don't worry, I'm sure R* will make map packs (like they made Vice City and San Andreas maps for IV) which will be SF v2 and LV v2.
Raynos
I can understand what you're saying OP, but look at that trailer, it looked pretty awesome. I myself didnt mind GTA IV, i quite liked the driving and damage physics that it had. Los Santos was my least favorite part of GTA SA, the gangster element wasnt my flavor, I was happy to move away from that, having said that, GTA V doesnt seem to be concentrating on that aspect and Los Santos looks way more Vibrant! Playing the ps2 version of GTA SA is not the same, that era has been and gone, so the OP cant just pick up SA and play to get any sort of Next Gen satisfaction. I guess time will tell, lets see what new info about GTA V comes out and draw our conclusions from that, I am quite optimistic that it will still be GREAT. Algonquin Assassin
I'm glad it's gonna be like this. It wont have a story that mashes together into a jumbled mess trying to give 3 cities important roles in the game. I think the map will blow everyones' mind regardless if LS is the only city. I find it ironic people bitched about being stuck in a city in GTA IV. Now R* have given people what they wanted (countryside) and people are complaining about cities again. R* will never win with most fans. This is part of the reason I think SA spoilt far too many people. Nothing since will ever be good enough to measure up to the "mighty" SA. Turin88
R* will never win with most fans. This is true. No matter what setting Rockstar pick for their games, they're never going to be able to please everyone every time. All they can do is go with what they think is best. reform
This isn't an issue for me. I don't care that only one of the three cities from SA will be in the game. I'm just glad it's going to be so much bigger than 4. It's probably going to be almost as big or bigger than SA, just with Los Santos being bigger, the outskirt towns being bigger, and the wilderness being bigger. Turin88
Smallo,Saturday, Nov 5 2011, 10:00] People need to realise that there's a difference between a realistic envirnment and realistic gameplay People also need to realise the difference between having a realistic environment, and having a gameworld that accurately mirrors a location in the real world. I'm all in favour of Rockstar making their environments realistic and believable, but that doesn't mean they can't make up a fictional state or do things differently to the real world like put Los Santos and Las Venturas next to each other. Why should geographical accuracy matter at all?

ch3vychas3
Hmm... Did GTAV.net have prior knowledge? Check this out on the Setting page: San Andreas:San Andreas appeared as the second level in the first Grand Theft Auto, loosely based on the west-coast city of San Francisco. It featured again in the GTA III trilogy, but this time included Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas - all separated by miles of countryside and desert. It was truly enormous, and some even argued it was too big! (If this was the only criticism fans could think of, it shows just how good the game was). A new San Andreas isn't completely out of the question, but it's probably still too fresh in our minds for Rockstar to consider doing it again. Instead, a new GTA based on one of San Andreas' cities (Los Santos, San Fierro or Las Venturas) is more likely. Besides, it is unlikely that Rockstar would be able to create a game on the scale as San Andreas without sacrificing some of the detail that GTA IV had. Maybe in future this will become a more realistic possibility. Los Santos:During the early GTA 4 previews, Rockstar revealed that their original plan was to have New York City surrounded by miles of countryside, on an even bigger scale than San Andreas. That plan changed, and Rockstar opted for 'quality over quantity' by choosing to focus solely on the city. GTA IV set new standards for creating detailed, realistic game environments, and if R* wishes to maintain those standards, it's unlikely we'll see a map on the same scale as San Andreas again any time soon. Instead, it is more likely that we will see a new GTA based on one of the cities from San Andreas, and Los Angeles is the stand out from those options. The nice thing about LA compared to other cities is that it incorporates so many different environments - it has dense city structures, beaches, hills, and the whole county is surrounded by miles of Californian countryside and desert. If Rockstar go for the single-city approach, then Los Angeles provides a unique potential to incorporate all of these environments. A new GTA based in Los Angeles, surrounded by countryside and desert, is a realistic possibility. Indeed, most of the rumours that have circulated thus far have pointed towards an LA-inspired setting for GTA 5. Prophecy? Typhus
Here's the problem, I love San Francisco. I travelled there all on my own just to see how beautiful that city is. Why not include it? Is LA really as stunning as San Francisco? No, I'm not being flippant. I'm really asking. Is LA a nice place? I know very little about it, I'm afraid. Zip87
People who expect all three cities. I'd love to imagine what goes on in their head, honestly. It's not going to be San Andreas HD. I think you're wrong about that... After SA was released people were expecting the next GTA (IV in this case) to be at least the same size if not bigger than SA... Then R* said, ok we make it smaller because it will be next gen graphics and new engine which they started from scratch... Now with V the best move would be to make again a release with more than one city to match up SA. Thats why i said games shouldn't go backwards. Am not bitching or anything and never said i wont buy it if its only LS. Yes the map will be big, stuffed with beaches, hills and so but most of the action takes place in cities. Those extra areas are there to connect the cities... Uhm, where did you see a statement that the map will be bigger that SA? except the R* announcement which does not imply it is bigger than SA but bigger... whatever that means
