I can understand that with each topic, a user sees it as a discussion of that specific idea, so when they have a different idea, they feel it necessary to create a new topic. That is no longer needed. This topic should be universal to anything having to do with the protagonist. Keeping everything in one spot should help to organize the forum and streamline the process of seeing and analyzing current information on the subject. So if you think you have an idea of who the protagonist might be, how many protagonists there are, or how a multi-protagonist system may work, post it here. POSSIBLE Protagonists Seen at 0:40, 0:47, 0:50, 0:57 Seen at 1:07, possibly 0:47 Seen at 0:24, 1:05 Things we know so far: -The guy running from police and the guy driving the red convertible are NOT the same person. Difference in hairline, facial structure, skin tone, and tattoos. -Ray Liotta's Wikipedia page showed him in GTA: V as Tommy Vercetti. Due to the nature of Wikipedia, this cannot be confirmed. Anyone could have put it there, and anyone could have removed it. -The homeless guy in the trailer does appear to be Jerry Kapowitz, though the guy getting out of the bug van does not appear to be the same person. If you look closely you'll see the hairline is a bit different and the area around the eyes, especially the eye brows, is different. -The homeless guy is NOT Niko. Their facial structure looks nothing alike. -The older man seen on the balcony in the trailer is seen at least two more times in the trailer, getting out of the van with the AK and driving the blue convertible. Feel free to add things, if you'd like I can keep the first post updated with any information posted so it's all in one place. It was there about 15 minutes ago, but has since been removed. Anyone can edit Wikipedia, so it could have been put there legitimately and removed by anyone, or put there by anyone and removed legitimately. As of right now, we have know way of knowing which. However do we really think it in R* nature to recycle protagonist? Looking at the past action of Houser brothers to bring back environment but not characters (until TLAD and TBOGT) I think we can expect a fresh start. But I was thinking that maybe what they are doing for this one is creating a scenario that would start to merge other GTA worlds with this one. Something that would be radically different. Maybe it would be something where you play as different people, one after the other, when you beat the game. What that would do is prolong the game. turning it into a much more in-depth game. So lets say if the main guy is Claude, ok you beat the game with him but now the end story isnt the end... ...it picks up with Niko or CJ, or someone else... My point is this..lets look at the possibility that there might be 3-5 games within one game. Or better yet what if GTA V meant 5 different storylines with 5 different protagonist? So even if a former protagonist does return, he most likely will not be a playable character, just someone seen in the game as a bit of an easter egg or tribute to the past games. As for the guys in the trailer, I don't know, it could be one, both, or neither. At this point, I'm not going to rule out the possibility of multiple protagonists, as I feel that could be the "bold new direction" R* was referring to. Start thinking outside the box because thats what we are doing now with all this speculation. We been thinking outside the box based off of on trailer...thinking that it is claude WHEN ALL OF YOU KNOW DAMN WELL IT AINT GOING TO BE CLAUDE!!!! But at least we are thinking outside the box...why not have 5 main storylines.. Then you have the FIVE in a scroll much like a tattoo. Why would they have 5 written twice? I think the African amercan dude we see in the tralier is one playable character we may hear from in the next tralier and the guy we here from in the current tralier is the other. Maybe it's there to show us that the V actually is for "Five" and not for Vice City or Las Venturas. Or maybe that's just what someone over at Rockstar came up with. There's no telling. And now, look at the first picture of the protagonist from the first post which I've quoted for reference. Don't the two look similar ??? From my knowledge, Rockstar's main protagonists have more or less been similar to their voice over counterparts as far as looks go (at least CJ in San Andreas) definitely was. If that is the case, this guy from the trailer could well be Ray Liotta and could play either the main protagonist or a crucial part in the game !!! alifjenius Posted November 6, 2011 Share Posted November 6, 2011 About the speculation, if R* only choose 1 protagonist, I think the so called "balcony guy" would be the Protagonist, but we could have multiple protagonists (though it will be unfocused, because we are focused on 2 stories in the same time) Why ? Look at the van scene, that guy comes from the driver seat. Have you play any missions about robbing a bank ("Breaking the Bank at Caligulas" from GTA SA, "Three Leaf Clover" from GTA IV, "The Job" from GTA Vice City, "The Getaway" from GTA III) that involving you sit on a car as a passenger ? He's seen the most in the trailer, and the Voice that's narrating seems to be in the same age group as him. I honestly think he'd be an interesting person, though who isn't interesting in GTA. And as someone said he's not to old, but he seems old enough to know his way around the criminal world, and it sounded like the narrator did too. It all adds up to me at leased The other people who pop up a few times might be DLC people and a EFLC thing might happen, or could just be random people, or people involved in the story a few times. I don't think Jerry is the protag, or has a possibility, no doubt he might be involved in the game if it is him, but I don't think he's protag material.
