iamJack
I'm just going to jump straight to the point haha:P Is anybody here kind enough to find me a good configuration for a new desktop please? I'd like to be playing GTA IV at high/max settings with a good frame rate and when GTA V comes out be able to play that with good graphics/good frame rate. (even though I realise the requirements haven't been released yet) My budget is £1200/$1922, I'm not at all techy so I wouldn't really know if this is a good budget or not, sorry. Right now I'm looking at http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ - they let you customize almost everything, however I've heard mixed reviews of the site so if you'd like to use another site then be my guest haha. I know that no matter what I'm going to get atleast one person that replies saying something like 'build one yourself it's cheaper' or 'do it yourself' but trust me, I'm not AT ALL in the slighest 'techy'. I also know it's a bit much to ask for someone to look for a dekstop for ME, but if you do, then in the least homosexual way possible, I will love you forever. Also sorry if this is in the wrong section but I couldn't find a better place to post this. +Again, thankyou if you do this for me.
iamJack
OK Sorry for double post but is this okay? (Like, will it all go together and work or something idk..) ¬ it's over my budget but oh well. (Still open for suggestions, would be much appreciated:D ) Sorry if it breaks the page D: EDIT: Only just noticed there's an edit button at the top of my posts, so uhrm not i'm more sorry for double posting Edited November 5, 2011 by iamJack
Jacko427
I have checked the site and found some nice parts. Go for an i7 2700K, GTX590 and 16GB RAM. That will play GTAV at nice settings. Maybe someone else will recommend better parts.
luceberg
This place offers pre-overclocked systems, which is a big plus imo: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist....d=43&catid=2040

They are much more money that they are worth; you'll get much more performance out of an i7-2600k or 2700k, or even an i5-2500k. Also, that 1050W powersupply is a huge overkill. You could save alot of money by putting it down to a 650W one, and even then it would still be much more than enough even when your system is overclocked. One more thing, I'd go for a GTX 570 or 580 if you have the money to spare, rather than a 6950. They get exclusive game graphical features much more often than AMD and (in my opinion) have a much nicer control panel.
SlaveZer0
as good as bulldozer is showing to be i dont feel the price justifies bang for the buck either. overthebelow has hit the nail on the head and i strongly agree.

Also having the "most expensive" parts doesn't automatically mean you can play GTA IV, it's all about the art of balancing.
Prometheus
Actually the best thing to do is to want 2 weeks till the 3960X comes out, cmon guys, didn't anyone think of that? it is a 6 core unlocked SB!
yoječ
And this CPU will blow half of the budget away alone.
iamJack
@OverTheBelow I took your advice + tweaked a bit of it like the graphics card and this is what I got: Is that good?
unc13bud
i have x4 925 ($80) on biostar ta780g m2+ ($50) and pny gtx 465 refurbished ($100 with $10 warranty) and crucial m3 ($100). playing EFLC at high settings autoconfig with vehicle set to 1 and vsync off. could get a system with a 960t and a motherboard that can unlock, could be as cheap as $500 or equivalent Edited November 6, 2011 by unc13bud
luceberg
I don't think that money is the problem. That PC looks good except that for maximum performance in GTA 4, you should go for the overclocked cpu version.
Prometheus
I think that IamJack's build is the best one, I strongly recommend choosing it. You didn't need help at all Edited November 8, 2011 by PrometheusX

Overclocked PC`s are not a good thing. They overheat and can easily die. You should not over clock a PC.

And you should stop trying to give advice here because clearly you don't know very much about computers. Overclocking is not a bad thing provided you know the limits and many variables of your processor that you need to keep an eye on. If you overclock successfully (the process isn't that difficult), it can be ran at over 1ghz faster than stock and you'll get alot more extra performance for free, that is if you have an aftermarket cooler already. If not, they're pretty cheap anyway. @Iamjack - your final build selection is the best performance for money.
