Woody1888
in gta4 the damage on cars was weird. you could fly into a wall at high speed and only see a small amount of damage and it looked scripted. only when you reversed into a swing set (on a side note will the possessed swing make a return) did u notice that the cars could become completely mesed up carmaged on style. I would like to see the same car damage but make it easier to mess the car up completely. maybe even the same level of damage to planes n boats, b.ikes etc
Miamiguy
You are wrong, GTA4 has quite good car crash physics, excpet for some slight script faults that happen sometimes. Clearly you havent crashed a car hard enough. In high speed the front crumples quite nicely. It all depends how you crash and in what speed. Also in what angle. Sometimes also happens that only one side of the cars front or back is crashed, like sliced with a axe or something. Also cars are a bit too hard, should be way softer. But because it was the first try with that RAGE engine, i see no problem, that they wouldnt fix everything. E: Also another good thing is, that it all depends on speed. If you crash your car in a slow speed, you will only have a dent. Now thats a really good thing...i mean in Mafia 2, doesnt matter how hard you crash, car has the same kind of dents. CheesyJ
I actually quite liked the car physics in GTA IV. They may not have been perfect, but I felt that they were a massive improvement on previous games. There is probably room for improvement, and I'm sure R* will try to fix any problems concerning it, but there are more important aspects of the game that they should aim to improve on, in my opinion. Woody1888
that's what I am saying. the car damage was good but it was to soft and I agree that they should be able to change it quite easy. however, will they?
SinaloaZ71
We all obviously liked the damage system in gta iv because it was the best the series has seen. im quite satisfied with the current crash simulation but a few enhancements cant harm haha
jonas91
Would be nice if parts actually fly off when you crash a car, in IV it would just crumple.
bluesboyjr
Would be nice if you could get the wingmirrors to come off this time. Almost any other game with car damage lets you knock 'em flying, even if that's practically the only damage you can do to your car. But in IV, you could smash your car up as much as physically possible, and you couldn't get rid of those little f*ckers without the whole door coming off. And why didn't the whole back bumper come off in IV? In the III Era, it was like it was stuck on with Velcro, but in IV you could only get it half off unless your car actually exploded. The car damage wasnt too soft, the other way around id say. Should be even softer. Then again, i also would like to see parts fly off. I remeber how i played VC and always tried to make the car as stripped out as possible. Everything flew off in that game. Perfect combo is: everything, doors and bumpers, fly off like in VC and then the body of the car crumples like in GTAIV, but its made even softer...like in real life. Offcourse that would be intense work to make all the cars handle like that and have tens or hundreds of details that fly off.

NutsAndy
I loved the damage in IV... remember in SA how you could bash the front of the car and the rear bumper would get damaged... what was that about? all the same damage each time was okay back in the day but IV made it different every single time. I agree though, there should be improvements, like when the engine block gets squished and damaged but the car keeps going, sometimes wheels would jam when they wouldn't in real life but wouldn't jam when they obviously should have done. Body panels should fall off after a certain amount of damage, so they wouldn't stretch endlessly. Sometimes the characters head comes through the roof (Roll cage please?). Mechanical failure and stuff, badly maintained old cars should overheat when ragged, drive shafts, prop shafts, and steering linkages should have a small chance of breaking if the vehicle grounds out heavily on them, jumps should destroy suspension if the vehicle lands hard enough and the suspension isn't uprated for that task.
