V has Chiliad. That alone suggests I'll play it more than I ever did IV.

Untrue. It could be any mountain.

The mountain we saw in the trailer was Mt. Whitney if I'm correct.

NOBODY KNOW'S

After seeing the trailer, Im thinking that It looks more open and fun than IV. liberty city was very boring because the beaches were empty and full of dirtbag hobos and all the apartments were small and it had a gritty boring feel to it, similar to what NY Is really like. Im thinking that SA Has more of a sunny cool feeling to it where ill be playing it for years.

Anyone agree?

In the most basic sense of you premise I agree with you. GTA 4 was smaller than what I was hoping for. I don't think it had much to do with it's setting so much as it was more limitations of the new engine. (that are now rectified) Since I'm an East coast resident who doesn't really find the West all that interesting I take issue with your reasoning. If I could do GTA 4 again it would have included much more than NY and NJ. Ideally, It would have had Staten Island, Philadelphia, Boston and possibly Washington DC. That's what my hope was for GTA 4. I was disappointed because the North east always get shortchanged by R*.

Rockstar didnt accurately depict NY. They didnt add in all the things you'd do if you were a real tourist like they originally claimed they were going to do. IV was a bad game all around, which is why it was horribly boring. As amazingly detailed as it was, it didnt do NYC justice. It lacked all the things that make NYC good. Like the shows, the night life, the sights. Time Square was practically empty. There was barely any peds or traffic, and was completely empty. There was nothing to do there. The only place you could go in was a burger shot and a cluckin bell. Out of all the things you can do in Time Square IRL, they didnt include any of it. There was absolutely 0 substance to that game, which is what made it so boring, bland, and just plain awful.

To be honest, they should have started with LS if thats what they were aiming for. LA in real life is a pretty horrible place, and theres REALLY nothing to do there. I cant see how there will be more things to do in this game, but I sure hope they add SOMETHING interesting to make LA a little less boring than it actually is in real life. At the end of the day, if they didnt add anything to do, then all you have is GTA IV with beaches and sun. No more, no less.

Just the vibrant color makes me happy. Liberty City was so friggin' gray. And flat. It's weird how much different hills make.

This. LC was nice but after a while, different shades of gray became uninteresting.

I can not understand you. IMO GTA IV was and still is best game ever made. I dont really like LS but we will see if GTA V can beat that. Rockstar has never dissapointed me.

i like the grity depressing vibe that new york has, they should have drawn on it more, with bigger areas, seasons with snow

Yes, I do agree. GTAIV looked beautiful and everything but it wasn't exactly a warm friendly environment. Once I beat GTAIV I basically stopped playing it, where I've played SA multiple times and still find it fun today because it seems like there are more places/areas to go that actually feel different.

It was great in SA because if I got bored of LA I could always steal a jet and fly to a different city (SF, LV, or even country towns) that was full of different characters and shops, etc. The super-large map with different terrain kept the game fresh and exciting for a longer period of time.

I hope los santos has the hood areas again

but you won't see gang members gathering on streets

since gta sa was in the early 90s

and gang members dont do that anymore i tink

they mostly stay in alleyways/house apartments etc

This. While I don't think R*'s depiction of NYC was to my wishes I still enjoy playing GTA 4 out of all GTA games. (outside of GTA classic) GTA:SA while fun at times I have yet to beat and I seldom play because it's too tedious. I honestly haven't touched it in 3 years. While I don't really think much of the West coast, I am still more than excited that GTA 5 is on the horizon in spite of it's setting.

To the OP:

Agreed. I think GTA will be taking a step back towards the fun and zaniness of GTA: SA. After the reaction to their new stance with GTA: IV, they should be forced to change back a little bit in their newest installment of GTA.

I like both because I will be drawn to one or the other depending what mood I'm at in life, if I am in a depressive mood I want realistic and gritty games, if I am in upbeat mood maybe I prefer to play something light hearted and fun, so I don't consider one of the other "better" just depends on my personal feeling at the time. When I played IV it was in the perfect space for it, and it was really the best game ever, I tried replaying recently though and could not get into it at all.

Miamiguy: Its cool if you like GTAIV but you can't say that GTAIV was better that GTASA because it obviously wasn't. GTAIV was a BIG step backwards.

What ever happened to someone having an opinion? If he thinks it's a better game, so be it. I think GTA IV is a better game too. In actual fact there's really no "better" as it depends on the person.

Anyway I'm locking this thread. It serves no purpose and is just another pathetic excuse for a GTA IV vs SA thread.
