qaisjp
Okay, we ('we' being the community) have a ton of awesome, unique ideas; but what about the physics engine? I personally loved the way Niko would die, run, sprint and mainly the entire controlling of the ragdoll (I'm saying ragdoll, supposing in V the engine will be similar to how NPC's are in Source) Will objects have enhanced physics? Health of objects. Picking up stones and throwing them at petty f*ckers, pretty cool. Someone punches you off the top of the building, you will fall backwards - spinning and spinning and spinning until you eventually get a faceplant and respawn at the nearest hospital. The way you jump, the way cars are reacting to stimuli. The environment, water - for instance. Water won't be squared tiles (as seen in San Andreas) (hopefully) but will flow, for example at co-ordinats 0,0,0 there is a landfill and at 0,0,10 there is a water spout that fills the spout. Or a dumper, filled with water. Buckets and all. Floods? Epidemic rush into V? (not really related to the physics engine, but still) Doors, as seen in IV (open when shot at, not fully opened etc) THROWING KNIVES! (Possible, and probably easy; since a friend implemented this using Multi Theft Auto and lua) What do you think about the physics of GTA V? SonofUgly
I think it'll be pretty much be the same as IV's with a few tweaks here and there, but nothing radically different.

Oh cmon, if you think about it - IV is kinda old. If GTA V is going to be awesome, and it will be, why not some modern physics?
D.Dodge
We only have seen a trailer dude. I think it's simular to IV but enhanced with better water physics. Has to be. And ofc. enhanced dust trails and weather physics since LA sometimes copes with extreme weather conditions.

Jyak
Look at the guy getting thrown to the ground, looks like the same engine as GTA IV, but tweaked for better performance and other things which will overall make everything better.
secksyjames
You guys see that part in the trailer where the cars stop out of nowhere San Andreas style? And when the guy in the red convertible crashes into that other car? Something looks really, really different about the physics engine this time around. Legendary912
It will be nothing like IV because it is outdated. It will definitely be the updated version of the Red Dead Redemption physics engine. Edited November 4, 2011 by Legendary912

LCstuntman
You people are idiots... It will be nothing like IV because it is outdated. It will definitely be the updated version of the Red Dead Redemption physics engine. Oh yeah, I forgot you worked at Rockstar . Since you do, you should know that the RDR engine is basically the same as the IV engine, and the engine in V will be the same (with maybe some small adjustments). GTAV2011
All current-gen R* games have been the same engine. GTA V will follow. Until the next generation of consoles come I wouldn't expect a change of engine, and to be honest they don't need a new one.

Hayze
What is the euphoria engine and what is the RDR (red dead redemption) engine like? The euphoria engine is what GTA IV/RDR also used for physics. The logical assumption would be to say it will be the same physics engine with updated behaviors for more actions/reactions and tweaks throughout it. VickeX
The game will most definitely run on the same engine as IV, the RAGE engine combined with the Euphoria advanced ragdoll / behaviour system. Just remember that both the RAGE engine plus the Euphoria behaviours are updated for each game. The ragdolls seemed a bit better already in Red Dead than what they were in IV so it's hard to imagine how great it'll be in V. Also i believe Rockstar wrote that Max Payne 3 will make use of many new behaviours in euphoria, so i'm sure V will make use of some aswell. But yeah overall the physics will most likely be very similiar to GTA IV. The behaviours is what's interesting... Like the peds interacting with other peds as seen in the shot on the pleasure pier. Actually, the MP3 version or RAGE is actually called RAGE 2, so you could say that's new.
.Olbricht.
What you guys should really be worrying about is the RAGE as a whole and it's performance on consoles and PCs alike.

Drake1212
But they MUST improve the physics Why must they improve the physics? GTA IV used the Europhia engine on everything except cars, and Europhia is by far the most realistic pysics engine to date. The only thing that might change, is if they use the Europhia engine on cars, wich i doubt, because R* stated that it took too much fun away from driving. Slamman
Anyone playing Red Dead Red religiously (like me) knows they improved Natural Motion's Euphoria, along with RAGE, the Rockstar engine for game developement on current consoles, yes. Not really a needed topic, sorry to say
