Halo_Override
Clifton Collins Jr is the guy talking in the interview and he is hispanic and also played Cesar in GTA SA Someone put his name out a few hours after the trailer launched, and it didn't get much attention, but I think it's a strong possibility at least. It's a pretty close match.
skillz7855
There are Hispanics that sound white. See Compare these two voices Clifton Collins Jr is the guy talking in the interview and he is hispanic and also played Cesar in GTA SA Trailer Lesson very close and carefully to both of them and they sound the same. It doesn't match GTA, though. If you were to play as a Mexican in GTA, you could tell. Not necessarily because if you heard th Officer Hernandez on GTA SA his voice sounds white but he is Mexican. Zip87
That's what I was thinking. R* would take the opportunity to have a proper south american to do a satire on immigration and the life of an illegal in america.
BoringAdultWithAFatGirlfriend
I'm just saying that if we're going to look super hard into the trailer, if it says "came here" and shows the 5 North while saying it, that's a dead giveaway. If no one else has said it and my guess is right, go me.

It would defeat the purpose of playing as a Mexican. Honestly, I'm hoping we play as the middle aged guy. Luckily, all signs point to that. Clifton Collisions is Mexican and he sounds white.Tell me this why can't a Hispanic who sounds white be the lead character its not redundant you know. And if you ask me he sounds like a Hispanic born American from Texas.
urbanfire
Can I flame you for your choice in user name, OP? As for the Protagonist, there are plenty of topics about who he is and his age, that falls in line with what race or background he is, but complicating things a bit, still a persistent rumor of more then one character we can play in this game. I'd like that dispelled. but Anywho, I mentioned he could have a slight Mexican accent I guess I dont think your in a position to flame anyone for anything, do you? And secondly, why would you like it dispelled? LoL relax new guy. He was just joking around the strange username you made today

Edit.: Nevermind, found it (I-5) -_- Seeing as you've already found it, I'll still point out that the 5 freeway terminates at the Mexican border at Tijuana. A major point of entry into the US. One of the biggest. You guys can all say what you will about how "white" he sounds. Some Spanish natives learn English fluently. But we're arguing over a trailer so what do I know? I'd assume he already owned a property before travelling to LS. An immigrant couldn't do that. At least not someone who has to be smuggled in through the border. I'd say the first GTA IV trailer was pretty straight forward about the protagonist, there was no subtle messages, everything he said was literal. On the other hand, RDR's debut trailer didn't even feature John Marston, it was narrated by McFarlane guy, so might be the guy in the V trailer isn't even the protag. No, his story matches what that of a protagonist's would be. He has to be a protag.

You should never talk in absolute terms, because if you turn out wrong, well then you'd sound like an idiot. Kinda like the xbox fanboys who said GTA IV DLC was NEVER coming to Ps3/PC. Anyways, I reckon we will see multiple Protagonists in this game. The white man will "probably" be the protagonist, but like RDR's opening trailer, there is still room for doubt. McKlop
Niko had his Serbian accent in the first trailer, pointing at him being foreign. This guy has no accent (besides American), thus he (possibly the main character) is white, simple as that. If Rockstar would have wanted him to sound for example Hispanic, he would sound like Ceasar Vialpando.

If you think otherwise, you're vastly removed from how this country operates. but, we're splitting hairs here. If the trailer says "i came here for the weather" and shows a nice beach, "bought a big house" and shows a large upscale home, I think it's safe to say that "came here" and the 5 north sign might mean something. There are plenty more but you've already seen it.

Coral_City
I don't think they would put that much effort into any sort of hidden clues. I think people are looking into this a bit too much. R* North was founded over a decade ago. GTA4 has sold over 22 million copies. If you don't think in the time and sales that followed the fellows over there haven't picked up on how people like you and I circle jerk over GTA forums pending information and a release date, you're delusional. If you don't watch film and piece together what's being said and what's being shown, then you're not looking hard enough. Watch for yourself. The OP was only my personal conjecture. This guy... OP... I like him. Tenacious son of a bitch. That being said, I'm going to have to disagree with you since, it's my belief anyway, the narrator didn't sound the least bit hispanic. I was getting more of a Goodfellas, mob vibe out of the guy. My votes for an Americanized Italian.

Maybe you missed my post about the percentage of friends I have that are hispanic and maybe you also missed my post about the billions Mexican cartels pull in annually. Regardless, if we're going to make assumptions I'm going to say you're probably a hardcore racist that has no clue what's going on anywhere near Southern California. HAHAHA, I just have to stop you at "you have no clue what's going anywhere near SC." I was born and raised in Southern California, and have never lived anywhere else. Saying Mexico is a poor country isn't racist, it's FACT. EDIT: And am I going to lie and tell you that I DON'T oppose illegal immigration? No, I won't, because I do oppose it. It has no positive effects on US, only THEM. Do I dislike illegals because of their skin color? No. Whether you believe that or not is your choice. No, I'm saying you have no clue because you assume that EVERYONE that heads over here from Mexico is dirt poor. Which flat-out, is not the case. And I didn't, nor did anyone else on this thread besides you, state an opinion on immigration. Nor did we ask for yours. I simply stated that showing the 5 north might imply someone "coming here", not that I condone it or not. But you called me Hispanic simply for bringing forth the possibility. Oops, you're a xenophobe.

My take on it might be completely off and maybe I'm looking too far into it but I haven't seen anyone mention it yet here (from the slight glance I gave this board) or on IGN so I thought I'd bring it up. I mean, if everyone is going to point out a dog and a hobo with a cardboard sign, why not? I think it's safe to say that by now, Rockstar knows what they are doing and what their fans are looking for when they release info on a title like GTA. I'm stoked to talk about this game more when more details come forward and hopefully the little knowledge I have about LA might help.
